I’m a big fan of the Chumby. It’s something that absolutely no one needs, but you’ll fall in love with it if you have one. Basically it’s an internet connected alarm clock that displays flash-based widgets. It’s a nice thing to have by your bed if you can’t sleep or just want to check up on stuff when you wake up. It also has Pandora and a decent set of speakers which is probably one it’s best features (oh, and you can use Pandora as your alarm).

Anyway, the Chumby One is basically the entry level chumby. It only costs $99 instead of $200 for the Chumby Classic. They made some improvements to it; it has an FM tuner and can be powered off a lithium ion battery, but only for a couple of hours, so it’s not really worth it. I’m happy with my Chumby Classic (especially because it has two speakers instead of the one in the Chumby One), so I don’t think I’ll be relacing mine any time soon, but if you had considered buying a Chumby and were turned off by the price, it might be a little bit more appealing now.

The Chumby One really seems like a much more well conceived product than the previous Chumby models. I’m interested in seeing where they take this product in the future. It’s really interesting to own something that is always getting new features added without you even noticing.
bengold on I'm an adult with ADHD since childhood, which was left untreated until this year. Here's my story. AMA - http://www.reddit.com/r...
"Thanks for sharing your story, I found quite a few similarities in my own life. Fortunately, my ADD was diagnosed when I was very young. I think I started taking medication when I was 11. At the end of middle school I thought it wasn't working so I stopped taking it. Basically, my Freshman and Sophomore years of High School where horrible. I got some new medication and things have been much better. I take Concerta, but I've been looking to change it again recently because I've been having trouble sleeping (apparently this is one of the side effects...). It's fascinating how all these drugs work differently for different people. I knew a kid in high school (and before now that I think of it) who had parents that didn't believe in ADD or they didn't want to get him medication for it for whatever reason. It made me really sad to see him clearly struggling. ADHD probably seems like total bullshit to many people. I'm the most cynical person in the world; if I didn't have ADD and didn't..." - Ben Gold
One of the things that people say an awful lot about the Apple Mac is that the OS is fantastic, that it’s very graphical and easy to use. What we’ve tried to do with Windows 7 – whether it’s traditional format or in a touch format – is create a Mac look and feel in terms of graphics. - http://bengold.tv/post...

I’ve never been a watch guy, and by that I mean I’ve never been interested in wearing a watch. I’m never in a situation where there isn’t someway to tell time. I’ve never been a watch guy, and by that I mean I’ve never been interested in wearing a watch. I’m never in a situation where there isn’t someway to tell time. Forgetting wall clocks, I always have my phone on me or there’s usually a computer nearby. In 2009, the watch has become something of a novelty. These days, it’s really nothing more than a piece of jewelry that just happens to have a function.

I’ve owned a surprising number of watches for someone who apparently despises the concept. I’ll using see one that looks really cool, but stop wearing after a few months… usually after I whip my hand into something and scratch the face of it. Anyway, a couple of years ago I bought a watch. I was in New York City and wandered into the massive Swatch Megastore in Times Square and bought this watch.

I don’t why, but it’s the only watch I’ve ever consistently worn. I’ve had a couple of watches there were much nicer than this one, but is something about this watch I love. It’s a swatch, so it has a good swiss movement and will keep great time… forever. It’s also a chronograph, which means nothing to me, but it looks really neat. It also has a plastic crystal, which I’ve messed up numerous times, but Brasso always manages to restore it.

Not sure why I felt like writing about my watch, but I did.

Jonathan Ive in Objectified. I would recommend everyone see this film, but I think most people would find it very beautiful, but ultimately dull. That said, it’s on of the greatest documentaries I have ever seen. There are some very interesting interviews with amazing people. This part with Ive is particularly excellent. - http://bengold.tv/post...
