"Loads of open source applications have good UIs. Google Chromium and Android both have great UIs and they are open source. Of course even if you leave out company open source projects, that still leaves you with some great looking KDE applications, some great looking Gnome applications and some really decent media centre applications. "Because the default UIs/themes are created via collective thinking/collaboration, which results in the worst UIs imaginable, and the more people are involved, the worse the result." More likely it is because programmers are doing the designs and not people who are skilled at graphic design. If you asked graphic designers to program an application, I'm sure they wouldn't get very far. As open source distributions and apps get more popular they are gaining more less technical users which includes artists and designers."

"The new designs are a welcome improvement but more importantly Firefox 4.0 needs better threading. I'm finding Firefox 3.5 gets slower by the day and although I use a lot of extensions this shouldn't make my browser completely lock-up."

"I have a Facebook friend list called 'random-add' where I put anyone I don't know. This allows me to add anyone who wants to be my friend without letting them have anything I don't want them to access."

"The Internet is a big place and part of the problem is crawling pages over and over again. With the amount of links posted on Twitter this could help Google decide what has been updated and what is new on the Internet. You don't need to waste time crawling the Internet if the updates come to you."

"Google Search, Gmail, Google Docs, Google Reader, Android, Google Chrome and I could go on. However I'm guessing your comment might have been a joke?"

"Google Wave is good for a lot more then just companies but only if you have a use for it. For writing stories, reports, spec sheets, planning and organizing events; Any thing that has more then one person working on it and is text based could benefit from Google Wave. As for normal users, it's not really meant for them. You do know what Beta and Preview means don't you?"
