">The *reasons* not to take moral advice from failed rockstars *is* self-evident. Is they? What about being (likely) murdered makes Kurt Cobain a "failed rockstar"?"

"Seriously? This guy is being downvoted for simply asking for a source? I don't doubt Arthur C. Clarke took LSD, but it isn't unreasonable to ask for a source."

"Beat a dead horse or say "Agree to disagree" aren't the only two options here. I understand some differences can never be fully resolved, and I respect a healthy argument--and that some people may simply tire of the conversation. That's why I always try to say something like "You've given me a lot to think about," which is a complimentary and respectful way of ending the discussion, rather than "*We disagree. I'm ending this.*""
- ben
"That's definitely fair when it comes to something subjective. "I like vanilla ice cream!" "Oh, well I think chocolate is best!" I'm referring to situations where you'd actually find yourself in a discussion that could be productive/debated/discussed."
- ben
""We'll just agree to disagree." Um, NO. Aside from the fact that this saying is really a euphemism for "I've closed off my mind and won't listen to anyone," it's also an incredibly douchey way for someone to try to control an argument (that they're probably losing). Instead of gracefully saying "You've given me a lot to think about," or even just "I'm just not in the mood to argue right now," you try to make it look like you're offering some olive branch of wisdom and attributing a false sense of equivalence to the contradicting arguments. How about "Let's just agree that you've thought this out more than I have, but I'm too stubborn to change my mind"?"

carraway on Reddit, I found a stingray in my backyard shed last night. What's the weirdest, least explainable thing you've found in/around your house? - http://www.reddit.com/r...
">I'm guessing it's getting downvotes because: 1. Some people perceive it as piggybacking off a popular comment. 2. I didn't actually get in trouble for it so it isn't actually on topic. Wrong. I'm downvoting you not because I believe in the rules of the public school system (I don't), but because you took advantage of and embarrassed your "quiet and timid" English teacher--who obviously sounds shy, underpaid, and a little sad--for a McMuffin. Not exactly sticking it to the man Ferris Bueller style."

"[KIDS](http://www.imdb.com/title...): An amoral, HIV-positive skateboarder sets out to deflower as many virgins as possible while a local girl who contracted his disease tries to save his next target from her same fate. >The movie 'Kids' was awesome, and my mate and I were stoned 17 year olds talking about the movie and repeating lines and laughing ಠ_ಠ"

">Quality and reliability of course are very important, but it's a folly to believe Apple is head and shoulders above the competition in those regards. Eh, [kinda](http://allthingsd.com/2011052...)."

"Probably too dated for most youngsters here, but [Escape Velocity](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki...) was an absolutely fantastic game for Mac back in the day. Huge universe, **completely** open story structure, mods. Just so much wasted time that I don't feel bad about."

"You do know that people get HIV in ways *other* than consciously choosing to have unprotected sex? Health care workers, rape victims, uneducated people in third world countries just to name a few.."

"This is a tangential question of reddiquette, but I've always felt it appropriate to expect people to Google something when you're providing a fact, explanation, or supporting information. A vague anecdote that you can't even relate yourself isn't something you should expect fellow redditors to spend time hunting down/citing for you. */end rant*"

"What really gets me is that they didn't call the police *even after finding out later the man had been murdered*. Their accounts and testimony could've ended up helping solve that crime."
- ben
"This is the fourth time you've copy/pasted the exact same reply to someone accusing you of cowardice. I just want to point out that **if** the murderers weren't picked up by cops on the scene, you and your friends were still the only people who would've been able to provide eye-witness testimony of the event. Sure, maybe nothing would change--but it's also possible that your accounts/descriptions could've provided a clue leading to arrests or evidence leading to a conviction. **TL;DR** - Only witness to a crime leading to murder, Scumbag Steve doesn't even call the cops after finding out on the news later."
- ben
"I'm not sure why this man is being downvoted for not making his point eloquently. He's not saying they should Rambo up and storm the joint. But not doing what is basic human reaction at that point and alert authorities is, to put it crudely, pretty fucked up."
