Observation: if u wait to blog about a big Google announcement til the next day, your post is at the top of the Google post links = traffic.
Honestly, it's surprising. - Hutch Carpenter
I get traffic from the weirdest sources. Most of my hits trickle in from Google searches on old posts that I didn't consider any more special than the others at the time. - Daniel J. Pritchett
Yeah, I know what you mean Daniel. But hey, all part of the C.V. I suppose if you had something in an old post that you didn't like, you could go back and do some updating. - Hutch Carpenter
I'm happy with my old posts. What I need to do is update these stale posts that are still getting Google hits and make sure they are really valuable to the people reading them. They probably want current news on the topic and any updates/resources I can give to them. Maybe I'll make that a weekly goal - update one old post with new information. - Daniel J. Pritchett
Hmmm...good idea. - Hutch Carpenter
It might even be an opportunity for a "this post is so old" plugin: "This post is kinda old. If you don't see what you wanted, here are [our latest posts on this topic]! Here is a [FriendFeed search on this topic]! Thanks for your interest! [E-mail or tweet us] if you'd like some more help." Sort of a riff on the WWSGD "looks like you're new here" plugin... - Daniel J. Pritchett
