Ethan, I'm trying to hook it up with my twitter account: "tad" It still doesn't work. Are you expecting more letters? I don't get a descriptive error, just the word "Error"

@tad hmm.. I typed in "tad" and it connects fine, and delivers all the hashtags from your twitter(like freakyfriday, tad, android, etc.). we will look to see what exactly is happening with your case and let you know. Please hold on. Thanks.

Stuart - here's the quick deal. 1) An RSS reader follows feeds you have selected. 2) Twitter and FriendFeed follow people you have selected. 3) Lazyfeed follows topics you have selected. Lazyfeed beats an RSS feed reader for finding new blog sources. Lazyfeed beats Twitter and FriendFeed on finding topical information. It's a great discovery engine.

Thanks a bunch, Louis. Appreciate it.

how can i get anything (anything at all!) in the long, column shaped box on the left hand side of the screen? there is a wee box that says "paused", but i can't get anything else to happen there. can the boxes be moved? i don't like the "hot topics" at the top.
- kelly
Kelly, above that is a home navigation bar that says "Enter a word of your interest". Put something in there and click go. Then you can see related items and it should grow from there. Click the Add button to put one in the left bar.
- Louis Gray
kelly - there's an "add" button at the top of each topic's page. Click on it and it will move the topic into the left column. Also, the update "pauses" whenever you hover your mouse over that area. You can also hide "hot topics" by clicking on a gray tab attached just below the hot topics box.

Possibly the most unsafe socket I have seen in a long time. Form over function?
- John Cooper
Plus, a slot design like this can't make use of the gripper 'bumps' in regular sockets. ( http://www.howstuffworks.com/questio... ) This is total design wankery with little to no consideration for the actual use cases IMO...
- Andrew C
what about safety? Im sure they could design some sort of cover for it. This is awesome...

But why would you cover it? The whole design imperative is the exposed slots, right?

- Julianne
I've only hear about it from the news. Sad another family is being torn apart. Sad America looks to reality TV for entertainment.

I care only in that it reflects this popular notion that being selfish is somehow "best for the kids" rather than selflessness. Their security and stability is more important than our whims any day.

I've been coveting copper river salmon for many years now ever since Paul teased me with stories of copper river salmon being served in Charlie's cafe and how it's served only once a year (and it has to be at the right time of year, too, when the salmon is just about to travel up the river and they're still loaded with salmon fatty goodness). Now, if I could also have some of Charlie's fabled bacon cheeseburger soup...

I know I'm not a guy, but I do wear ties sometimes. I go for the Half Windsor for casual looks. The 4 in Hand for a more formal look.
- Admiral Anika
I always use Four in Hand, but the blokes in our London office seem to feel that is uncouth and anything but a Windsor is unacceptable.
- Christopher A. Wichura
Pretty sure I do a Windsor, but I don't wear ties very often.
- Jordan Hofker
Used to be Four in Hand (I actually thought it was a Half Windsor until just now) but then I learnt how to do a Windsor a few years ago, so I always do that now. Never seen the Shell before. That looks pretty interesting…
- Tony Ruscoe
from fftogo
When I do it myself, four in hand. When a lady is doing it for me, usually a windsor.
- Beau Liening
I think Four In Hand. Never think about it though. Would you believe once I started wearing ties again, I just googled "How to Tie A Tie"? So... I've done it the way that video said ever since. :)
- Louis Gray
4 In Hand or Half-Windsor. 4 in Hand is most versatile, but some of my shirts require the Half-Windsor because the collar is so wide. I need to learn some more knots though...
- Chrimmus Tad
from fftogo
Four-in-hand, although I had no idea how it was called. I'll play around with the other ones the next time I'm going to wear a tie -- some of my ties are too long, and the four-in-hand knot is often slightly uneven.
- Tudor Bosman
from email
I am relieved to know that the four-in-hand is a legit tie knot. I always felt a little embarrassed thinking I didn't know the "real" way to knot a tie.
- invariant - farewell FF
The full Windsor knot is just too bulky for anything but the best silk ties. At school I was lazy and wore a four-hand knot, but on the rare occasions that I sport a tie now it's the half-Windsor
- Slappy Line
I see that I invented Windsor by myself(i.e. none showed me but I knot windsor). Four in hand is the most popular style in Turkey btw.
- Burak "cyrus" Bayburtlu
four in hand ...quickest easiest n still has a sexy dimple
- viki saigal
At last something practical I could use! lol
- Kevin J Hatton
Half-Windsor or Four-In-Hand depending on the shirt and the width of the tie.
- ha3rvey (free hugs!)
(OT) Friendfeed do need a poll feature
- Jérôme Flipo
I ran the Men's Furnishings area at Robinson's (when there was a JW Robinson's) and men would call have us pick 5 shirts and 5 ties to go with a couple suits for a week long business trip. Almost everyone of them asked that we tie the tie and put it on the shirt so they could loosen it - and wear it without re-tieing the tie! My knot of choice? Half Windsor!
- Robyn Hawk
learned to do a four in hand myself after watching someone else do it. However, I detest ties - horrible things. Was forced to wear one thru school and when I started work. After the 4th time I caught it under my knee while crawling under desks I refused to wear one. When I did one of my vertical slice episodes last month where I dressed up as the spy from TF2 was the first time I had worn a tie since about 2002. No time for them soul sappers. Next up, abolition of the suit! ;)
- alphaxion
Actually, after looking at this again, I do the Full Windsor

"Cryotherapy ("cold therapy") constricts blood vessels and decreases metabolic activity, which reduces swelling and tissue breakdown. Once the skin is no longer in contact with the cold source, the underlying tissues warm up, causing a return of faster blood flow, which helps return the byproducts of cellular breakdown to the lymph system for efficient recycling by the body. "Ice baths don't only suppress inflammation, but help to flush harmful metabolic debris out of your muscles," says David Terry, M.D., an ultrarunner who has finished both the Western States 100-Mile Endurance Run and the Wasatch Front 100-Mile Endurance Run 10 consecutive times. Though you could use individual ice packs, cold-water immersion generally produces a greater and longer lasting change in deep tissues and is more a more efficient means of cooling large groups of muscles simultaneously. The discomfort associated with sitting in a tub full of ice water scares off some athletes. I admit that after my long...

Good idea. I ate breakfast, slept and when I woke up, I wasn't in pain. So,...

Yes, we have 9 that are actual shopping bags. Other canvas bags can be purposed for shopping if need be.
- FFing Enigma (aka Tina)
I have them but never with me when I'm at the grocery store
- jcunwired
Yep. I have three big ones from Trader Joe's that I keep in the car, and we probably have another 20 in the house that we've won or had given to us.
- Derrick
We have a growing collection of the re-usable bags.. and always forget them at home (hence the growing number).
- Herb Hernandez
Yes, usually. But if I forget to bring them, I'll get paper bags and use them to sort cans and recycling.
- Penguin It's Cold Outside
Yes! I bought some from www.heatherbrown.com and then I got one free from the grocery store. Plus I have my freezer one from Sam's Club. Stuff defrosts really quickly in Texas in the summer.
- Trish Haley
I put my groceries in the same old Northface backpack I use for everything else. I don't have a special reusable bag for the market. I admit, though, I generally go to market at a low traffic time so I won't annoy people in line by bagging my own stuff in the backpack. I once got a sweeeet reusable bag of that kind as a promotional item from the MTA, but I gave it to someone who needed a bag.
- jojo, adventurer
The re-usable bags are in our cars. I remember them about 50% of the time so I'm getting better!
- Anne Bouey
Yes, 4, and one is lined for cold things. Buy them cheap right at the store. We can scan and bag our stuff into the cart and then at checkout the food is already bagged - by me - the way I like it. Just hand over the scanner, pay and go.
- m9m, Crone of FriendFeed
m9m, that's the way Bloom does it here (the self scanner). I wish EVERY store did that!!
- FFing Enigma (aka Tina)
Anyone customize their shopping bag or are they all bags with some store or sponsor's logo?
- Adam Helweh
Plain brown and hemp here *cough* *cough*
- jcunwired
@jcunwired if its missing then we know what happened huh? Especially if the groceries don't make it to the house.
- Adam Helweh
I used the plastic bags as wastebaket liners; I always have a few around.
- Robert Hafer
Our stores are threatening to stop giving out plastic shopping bags. What will I use to throw away cat poo?
- m9m, Crone of FriendFeed
I actually tucked one of my helmet bags in my backpack last week with the intention of using it as a shopping bag, but I didn't remember to pull it out today.
- MiniMage TKDteacher of FF
Our state (South Australia) has just banned giving out 'free' plastic bags. Now each time I go shopping I have to buy more re-useable bags if I don't happen to be carrying one with me. I can see that I'm going to amass a huge collection of useless bags. The stores have just started selling biodegradable 'plastic' bags for 10c each.
- Chris Loft
Chris, grab a box of small trash bags and put your groceries in them; cheaper than 10 cents a bag.
- Robert Hafer
Sometimes we do, but I like to get the plastic bags sometimes because that's what we put cat litter into when we scoop out the cats' poo box.
- Rochelle
Sounds like we need to invent an alternative way to dispose of cat poop. Ideas?
- Adam Helweh
I have about a dozen reusable shopping bags. Kinda defeats the purpose, huh?
- Julianne
from Nambu
It depends on if I have enough plastic bags to do poop duty when walking Jackson, my Great Dane mix. When I do, the groceries go in one of my Dana Design backpacks.
- Mathew A. Koeneker
plastic, and have a bunch at home as trash bags. for refregerated/frozen goods, we have a insulated zipper bag to help keep it all from melting in the Texas heat
- Josh Haley
Yes...it's amazing how all the groceries that take around 15 plastic bags will fit into about 3 reusable ones.
- mark
Yes, and Safeway provides a two cent credit for every bag you bring. I routinely save 18 cents.
- Andy Bakun
yes we use them. we have like 10. just have them in the car when we need them.
- (jeff)isageek
I have lots of reusable bags from various store promotions and from giveaways at expos and events. One day, those will clutter up the place worse than plastic bags, which would be ironic.
- Morton Fox
@Alix what materials do you knit them from?
- Adam Helweh
We've got a bunch of re-usable plastic bags for groceries. I'm starting to get annoyed about tossing out the little plastic veggie bags and wanting a re-usable alternative for them. Last weekend, I went to REI and got a pair of panniers for my bike so I can stop driving to the store and instead of them bagging everything, I just told them to shove everything into one of the panniers and carried my purchases that way.
- Wirehead
yes. I got the one I like best from Uniqlo in NYC. It zips down to a ridiculously small size and it has no logos or branding on it.
- JoEllen
I usually remember, but not always. It'll be easier when there's a charge per bag next year.
- Chris, Taskerrific Guy
Adam - generally cheap cotton yarn from the big box craft stores. I have one made with organic cotton but that's not as easy to acquire and costs about 5-7 times as much. Hemp or linen would work just as well, or recycled yarn from old sweaters or whatnot. If you don't want to splurge on needles, put chopsticks in your pencil sharpener. :D
- Alix Whitmire
Wirehead - you can buy or make reusable veggie bags and either pay the extra cost for the weight of the bag or ask them to adjust the weight. Just cut a circle out of mesh fabric and thread ribbon/rope through it at the top and it should be fairly light, or do a search on Etsy.
- Alix Whitmire
I do, but I need to put them in the car so I always have them. When I go out specifically to go shopping, I remember them, but I often stop by Trader Joe's on the way home without planning to, and then I don't have them. In addition to being reusable, they pack and carry so much easier than plastic, too!
- Jandy, ConcertMaven of FF
I have one I take to the store with me, but I use the little plastic bags as can liners for small trash cans so I like to have those around as well

CA License plate names in 6 alpha-num or less (assume 1 char is lost in @ to help differentiate with regular license plates and alpha & num is allowed) - 36^6 values (2 billion+) compared to 36 mil CA population. SEEDMAGAZINE.COM "When we push athletes to their limits in the lab, we’re learning that their brains give up before their muscles do." - http://seedmagazine.com/content...
"A very important detail to note is that this method makes extra large loaves that are approximately 4.5 pounds each. Each loaf costs only $0.68 to make. That is sixty-eight cents. I buy flour and yeast in bulk, so it's possible that if you buy your ingredients at a regular grocery store, your loaf might cost twice that....a whopping $1.36! (And don't be intimidated by all the steps. I've broken things down into as simple increments as possible because this is really EASY!)"
