"Viennese artist, Friedensreich Hundertwasser, has designed what has become one of the more unique and visually stimulating buildings in the world. With over 1000 unique windows, individualized handles on windows and doors, a living roof, café, parking garage, restaurant, bar, playground, and a running stream, the Waldspirale in Darmstadt, Germany is an architectural wonder. Upon first glance, second and third, one is simply enchanted and astonished. The apartment building contains 105 apartments, with no two windows alike. The overall design follows Hundertwasser’s dogma ‘gegen die gerade linie’ (against the straight line), and its off-center placement of windows is aptly described as ‘aus der reihe tanzen (dancing out of line). Each of has a personality of their own, and no two are alike." - Cee Bee via Bookmarklet

Advisers worry about ‘grumpy McCain’ - Mike Allen - Politico.com
2 hours ago - via Reshare - Link
A close McCain friend said the reason is clear: McCain is miserable about having to run a campaign that’s antithetical to his persona. “He is basically having to be somebody that he isn’t,” said the friend, who remains strongly supportive. “He is just not a guy that goes on the attack in public. For him to be on the attack constantly, attacking Obama’s character … McCain is uncomfortable with that, and it’s made him grumpy.” - MikeAmundsen
I'm glad he's having to pay the price for selling his soul to the GOP. I wish he had run as himself, as he ran in 2000. I'd probably have a McCain sticker on my Prius instead of an Obama one. - Emotion Tad
@Tad: yeah, i've been really disappointed in his campaign this time. it's just not the same man i saw eight years ago. and i don't like where he's taking things. bummer - MikeAmundsen
Palin proves just how low he's had to sink. What a shame. - Emotion Tad
What Tad said. - Mavericks of Troy, NV!
I mean - it's so frustrating. McCain has been a hero of mine since 1999. Lindsay and I both SOOOOO wanted him as president in 2000, and then in 2004 we got excited when there were rumors about a Kerry/McCain ticket, but then a couple of years ago I saw him give a speech at Liberty University and it was clear that he was selling out. So sad. He's still a hero though. All heroes are imperfect and not necessarily presidential. - Emotion Tad

I feel horrible this incident took place, but it's a relief (sorry) that it happened abroad and not in the U.S. - Mona N.
We have to ban t-shirts. They're dangerous. Seriously, this has more to do with the fact that the gunman is clearly a stark-raving lunatic than it has to do with the clothes this man was wearing. - Mattb4rd

politics are dangerous..obama should give this guy a shout out if he wins in his inauguration speech when he's thanking his supporters. something along the lines of "People were literally shot down for me!" - genieyclo
I'm just thankful that at least on FriendFeed, even if we DO disagree, most are amicable. - Mona N.
This is irresponsible journalism, in my opinion. I don't see anywhere in that article where the gunman shot him because of the t-shirt. He said he hated [racial slur], but the guy he shot is black. The victim seems to be making an assumption for a story. With the volatile nature of the campaign right now and McCain/Palin feeding into people's bigotry and racism, these stories only make it worse. /rant over. :-) - Trish R
This happened abroad... but other which way, until the assailant gave an official statement as to why he shot the man, yes. The headline and article is misleading. - Mona N.
Sounds like it was a bb gun. - Jay Tannenbaum
I can't believe one moronic commentator to this article had the audacity to say "free speech comes with a heavy price sometimes(sp)". What does that actually mean? The guy was minding his business, his civil and human right as a individual on this planet. And along comes this [adverb noun] with his pretentious opinions on the order of race.Ugh,disgusting. - Terence Washington
Actually Terrence, as Trish pointed out, this is a case of irresponsible journalism since there's no official that Obama's t-shirt was indeed the cause of the shooting. And it's also my fault for posting it. But this is a perfect example of why you shouldn't believe everything you read. ;) - Mona N.
Perhaps some of the racist slurs that the lunatic shouted were specifically directed at Obama. However, I suspect this guy would have been just as agitated by a Bob Marley t-shirt. - Ontario Emperor
I unlike racial intolerance. - Mike Reynolds

It was mentioned earlier today, but it probably bears repeating: there are some sad (and probably dangerous) racists who count themselves among John McCain's and Sarah Palin's supporters. From shouting out that Obama is a terrorist to hollering "Kill him!" at a rally when Obama's name is mentioned to telling an African-American member of the press corps to "Sit down, boy," there's a lot of ugly shit around this year that makes purple Band-Aids and flip-flops look like thoughtful political discourse. And, what's even more horrifying, that they think they can openly say racist shit because being at a Republican rally — the Republican party, notably, being the party responsible for the aforementioned Emancipation Proclamation and 13th, 14th and 15th Amendments — means that they are among "their" kind. And, given that neither John McCain nor Sarah Palin — the new heirs to the leadership of the party of motherfucking Lincoln — could take a minute, a second, to chide a supporter and say,... - Erica Baker
Yes, there are racist idiots int he republican party in much the same way there are fringe wackos in the democratic part who think the CIA is listening into their thoughts through their fillings. All you have to do is go to any "peace" rally to see folks who are violently crazy. Hell, at the RNC convention folks were collecting their own urine to toss on delegates as they passed by and hoarding explosives. It is getting ugly out there... but that ugliness is not limited to a single party by a long shot. - Soulhuntre
To compare racists with paranoid schizophrenics might be accurate from a mental health standpoint, it's not really accurate in terms of numbers, attitudes, or impact on American society and politics, either historically or currently. - steplow is Steve
Its not even accurate from a mental health standpoint... - Chris Hollander
please post links to RNC attendees collecting urine and hording explosives. conversely, there are links posted *today* of racists shooting an Obama supporter, and calling for the death of Obama. - Chris Hollander
As deplorable as the reported behavior truly is, I think it's reasonable to keep in mind that there are also way too many whack-job "liberals" who are flinging bad things at candidates, screaming epithets at them, and so on. Unhinged people are scary and worrisome on *both* ends of the spectrum, and frankly, I'm not sure the Republicans have more than the average. - Adam Lasnik
Agreed with Adam. It just SEEMS like it right now because this is such a charged campaign season. I think if Obama was in a desperate situation and had started calling McCain or Palin terrorists then we'd see similar stuff on the blue side of things. The far-left is just as loony as the far-right, and remember boys and girls, there's almost NO difference between the ultra-left wing and the ultra right wing except the color of their uniforms. - Emotion Tad
Yes but you see Adam, the unhinged liberals don't have the long history that the crazy racists in this country do. - Erica Baker

Reminds me of the joke about the phases of sex... The 1st kind of sex is Smurf Sex. This kind of sex happens when youfirst meet someone and you both have sex until you are blue in the face. The 2nd kind of sex is Kitchen Sex. This is when you have been withyour partner for a short time and you are so horny you will have sexanywhere, even in the kitchen. The 3rd kind of sex is Bedroom Sex. This is when you have been withyour partner for a long time. Your sex has gotten routine and you usually have sex in your bedroom. The 4th kind of sex is Hallway Sex. This is when you have been with your partner for too long. When you pass each other in the hallway you both say...."Screw You". - £ogical €xtremes

I'm an anti-fan. I liked 6th Sense and then it is hockey stick growth downward since then. He's a director with only a hammer, and every story looks like a nail to him. - Dave Slusher
He's only made two decent films, that I enjoy watching, occasionally. The Sixth Sense and Unbreakable. All of his newer stuff complete and utter crap. - James Fuller
I liked Unbreakable better than 6th Sense and was disappointed by Signs...haven't seen anything of his since...They've all gotten bad reviews all around. I wouldn't say any of them were profound or insightful...but it was fun to figure out the puzzle in the first two movies, particularly in 6th sense because you didn't know there was a puzzle and in Unbreakable because you knew there was. There really was no puzzle in Signs, which made it disappointing and after that...why bother? - Alex "Maverick" Scoble
I'm willing to watch Unbreakable, even though the twist ending was spoiled for me years ago. I've seen other of his films on airplanes (never paying for the headphones) and just glancing up once every few minutes was enough to convince me they are crap. Plus, he personally is so full of shit he's a turd piñata. - Dave Slusher
