And I cannot help but smile / At any news of you at all
FRONTLINE: Tehran Bureau: Media Guide | PBS - http://www.pbs.org/wgbh...
Mostly noting for myself. It's hard to remember who all these news agencies are and where they tend toward on the Iranian political spectrum. - Bill Mason
Text - Obama’s Nobel Remarks - NYTimes.com - http://www.nytimes.com/2009...
Excerpt: "So even as we respect the unique culture and traditions of different countries, America will always be a voice for those aspirations that are universal. We will bear witness to the quiet dignity of reformers like Aung Sang Suu Kyi; to the bravery of Zimbabweans who cast their ballots in the face of beatings; to the hundreds of thousands who have marched silently through the streets of Iran. It is telling that the leaders of these governments fear the aspirations of their own people more than the power of any other nation. And it is the responsibility of all free people and free nations to make clear that these movements -- these movements of hope and history -- they have us on their side." - Bill Mason
Older son had his first neurofeedback session this week. He spent most of it getting used to the idea of having electrodes attached to his head. :) But apparently even the short time he actually spent doing the therapy helped his mood and mind.
He says that compared to before it, he feels more "discover-ous" than before. I guess he feels his mind is more open than it was. :) - Bill Mason
Before the next session, they're going to acquire a slightly different electrode rig for him. He really had trouble tolerating the standard setup, with 1 electrode behind each ear. It was a tactile thing. - Bill Mason
I think I'm officially tired of the sub-freezing cold. I'm ready to take my butternut squash soup that's for lunch and eat it for breakfast.
But we don't get back above freezing until Saturday, so I guess I better deal with it. :) - Bill Mason
Off to bed. Cheers, all. :)

Earlier one of our cats decided to stroll across my wife's keyboard. And managed to tweet "c 21x" in the process. :) Maybe we should start an account for him and have him send random tweets from time to time....
This is going to be a tough year on our Christmas ornaments. So far between the little one and the cats, 3 have been broken. Que sera sera!
@Miriamex Just wanted to say good morning. :)
I either forgot or lost my wristband today. My wrist feels like it weighs less without it. I'm just used to the tactile sensation I guess.
Hurrah, I found it when I got home. It felt really weird not having it. - Bill Mason
That's enough fun and frolic at work. Grocery shopping, then home.
You know I'm bored at work when I start editing Wikipedia articles.
An hour to go. I stopped editing Wikipedia, though. :) - Bill Mason
Another sign of boredom is reading the Twitter public timeline. People do post some...interesting stuff. - Bill Mason
Mildly surprised to read that my congressman will not be running for reelection in 2010.
It rather sucks to hurt your back while sitting in your office chair. Just saying.

are u there ? :) - کلیشه
As here as I ever am. :) - Bill Mason
u know ? the daily that this is accorded to , is not very frank . this news paper is not an acceptable one belong iranians - کلیشه
I couldn't speak to that, particularly. I'm not sure that I've run across the site before today. - Bill Mason
I don't know this site too . but at the heading it says that they've accorded the news to "Keyhan" news , which this newspaper is most cussed one belong Iranians . - کلیشه
have u heard any about iran's government & politics these days ? - کلیشه
I keep up as much as time allows. But certainly I wouldn't claim to be familiar with all the intricacies. Like which Iranian news sources are held in what regard...this article refers to a number of them. Naturally the ones that are more easily identifiable to me as being tightly aligned with the government, I take with a grain of salt. - Bill Mason from IM
for example iran's election . have u kept ? - کلیشه
Yes. - Bill Mason from IM
nice :) . wht do u think of that ? I'd like to know what foreigners think - کلیشه
I don't if I can speak for everyone. Or summarize in just a few sentences. :) For myself, I think the Movement has captured the imagination of a lot of people. Before the election, I think the picture of Iran in our collective minds was the face the regime shows the world. And in an odd way, I'm grateful for the whole experience, because it caused me to connect with a whole new group of people that I've found new friends among. Not what I expected from my summer. :) - Bill Mason from IM
wow ! a big thanks to u of course :) . - کلیشه
:) Thanks, but I have the easy part. Complain to my congressmen when I don't like where our government's Iran policy is going, and worry about all of you on protest days. Everyone there has the hard part. - Bill Mason from IM
and then : you mean that your picture of Iran and Iranian people has changed into a positive way after iran's election's events . right ? - کلیشه
Oh yeah. Keep in mind that before, we really didn't hear much about the Iranian people in the media day to day. We heard about the government. And we had a previous President who liked to make up things like "Axis of Evil." So that warps your perspective. - Bill Mason from IM
Also speaking for myself, my first memory of Iran is the hostage crisis - I was 13 then. That stays with you. - Bill Mason from IM
It has been a great pleasure over the past few months to gain new perspectives. And friends. - Bill Mason from IM
ow yess :)) . nearly 30 years ago . u know ? the guys that made that crisis were some students of college called "peyrovane khatte imam" . and you know what happened to them ? they are now in prison ! because they were the today's protesters of election ! do you believe ? - کلیشه
I've read some stories about some of those individuals being imprisoned, yes. It's quite ironic. - Bill Mason from IM
mmm.. I'm so glad of the fact . ( that something positive "people" have done ) - کلیشه
and you know ? as Mr Obama have became US's president , we think that it is a chance to us . to use the changes he mean . but ... unfortunately the Iranians president now , is a lose nut ! and will loss the chance :| - کلیشه
i was wondered if you subscribed to me in order to speak in directs . if possible of course and u had time . have u ? :) - کلیشه
I'm not sure what Obama as president will mean, regardless. I'm not sure there's the political will in the government in general to be patient with the situation. Or whether diplomacy will come to a quick end and the sanctions game will start again. I guess we will see. - Bill Mason from IM
And yes, I've subscribed to a number of people to at least have the option of direct messages. It's been helpful from time to time when I ran into language barrier problems. I don't think I do that quite as much as I used to in the beginning, because the sheer volume of feeds would be impossible for me to attempt translating it all. - Bill Mason from IM
so .. you think that it will not turn into a better situation to solve the Iran problem ? at least with Obama's solutions ? - کلیشه
yeah :)) . I have experienced it too . I just wanted to continue our conversation there .. :-?? and now just take it easy ;) - کلیشه
I'm not sure. I think Obama has already run into the 1st problem - that the Iranian regime is too fractured, or too busy with the internal situation, to come to any diplomatic deal. And if a deal cannot come reasonably quickly, that Obama will be under political pressure here to resort back to sanctions instead. - Bill Mason from IM
and : whom did you voted last year ? - کلیشه
well now it is not too hard to Iranian government to think of that . thinking about diplomatic deal that US suggests I mean . even Iranian people and protesters will attend it . - کلیشه
because as it is a chance for Obama's government , it is a chance to iran too . iran and iranians can wait ! so they'll help Obama . and while the others see that some improvement have taken place , there would not be many pressure on Obama . hmm ? - کلیشه
I'm just not sure how long our government is willing to wait for progress, I guess. For what little I understand of Iranian politics, sometimes I think I understand less of our own. :) Poltiics is this crazy game where the rules change minute to minute, in my view. - Bill Mason from IM
I'm agree ;) . - کلیشه
in iran it's an idiom : "politic it the dirtiest" - کلیشه
:) I would agree with that. - Bill Mason from IM
so what would be clean ? faith ? :) - کلیشه
I am not sure. :) - Bill Mason
me too :p . - کلیشه
Junk faxes waste paper & make me laugh. Our entire dept was accepted into the "Presidential Who's Who" of business execs, it says. Yeah.
It kills me that Thunderbird 3 shipped with a Mac bug that reports unread IMAP mail as twice the actual number. That'll inspire confidence.
Every day I pass a broken temperature sign. It reports anything freezing or more as freezing, everything less as 1 degree below freezing....
Two new developers starting in the department today, and I haven't gotten the names of the last 3 hires straight yet. I am so bad with faces....
