Twitter might be down, but at least he status page is up. http://status.twitter.com/ Then again, it doesn't offer any status updates since July 28th. ;)
QUESTION OF THE DAY: What's your favorite URL shortener and why? TinyURL? Bitly? Trim? Cligs? R u using one that no one else knows about? Let us know your thoughts below...
then I tried Cligs... this one was good but then they changed their entire site around and all my old links stopped working which was a bit annoying...
- Jason Pollock
Plus Cligs is a little too long of a URL shortener for me..
- Jason Pollock
Now I mostly use bitly.. I really like the way you can track your analyitcs second to second.. i love watching the graphs right after i tweet something out.
- Jason Pollock
Bit.ly I like the way it shows me the activity on the links I share.
- Michael Fidler
I like su.pr because I can track it like bit.ly but it also helps promote
- J.D. Rucker
Michael: i totally agree.. i think that bitly has the smartest analytics of any of the URL shorteners right now.
- Jason Pollock
J.D. - Thanks for your comment! It's great to see you on Friendfeed! How does Su.pr help promote?
- Jason Pollock
I started with TinyURL; nowadays I use only TweetDeck
- Luiz Lailo
I like Tweetdeck but I think it turns smart users in bot like tweeters
- Jason Pollock
The results are real-time also. I've tried many others, but I don't see the need for them anymore
- Michael Fidler
I use bit.ly, but not for any particular reason. Sometimes ff.im if I use Shareholic to post to both FF and Twitter; other times I use the Flickr shortener.
- John (bird whisperer)
For example: when someone has RT RT RT RT in their tweet i think that just looks silly but it is a symptom of tweetdeckers
- Jason Pollock
Hey Su.pr is having cool features and is a must for SU power user.
- Binoy xavier joy
John: What do u like about the Flickr shortener? I havent heard too much about one...
- Jason Pollock
Just that it takes fewer steps to post a photo to Twitter. You have to set it up on your Flickr account first, but after that you can click "Blog This" above a photo and send it directly to Twitter with a shortened URL.
- John (bird whisperer)
bit.ly is the best hands down. Short URL's, Detailed Analytics, and the sexiest bookmarklet you've ever seen, which includes stats and the ability to share the link on a bunch of services. Here's a comparison post I did a little while ago http://bit.ly/3USEh3
- Rahsheen
I would like to be able to see the analytics from the bit.ly links I share from feedly and friendfeed. Right now I can only track the one's I create.
- Michael Fidler
Michael: I agree, it would be cool if there was an easier way to track all the links being shared, not just the ones you create. U should b able to put any bitly URL into bit.ly and then immediately start seeing the current analytics on that link.. that would be cool!
- Jason Pollock
I like the way tr.im looks but it's too unstable. I use bit.ly for the stats & because it's easy to use & tweet from it using multiple accts. I used to use snurl.com and really liked it. I think I switched to save the 3 characters. I still use it to share links that I don't want to track - or have tracked (you can see who shared any bit.ly link).
- jbrotherlove
bit.ly: combination of analytics and custom URLs most useful
- .LAG liked that
1) Su.pr - Easy stats, scheduled posting, Twitter + FB integration, and the stumbleupon bar allows easy resharing via Twitter/Facebook, and it pro. 2) If I separate links for campaign tracking I use bit.ly. I switched to su.pr from bit.ly about 3 weeks ago and I'm very pleased so far.

is.gd - started with tiny long ago, switched to is.gd cos its the simplest to use in firefox.

url.ie ... built by my business partner. I like that it's so easy to use. Plus it kinda sounds like my name!
