Ok I'm on the bus back to New York. This was a neat experiment. Posting a few sentences about the talks was less laborious than I imagined (I brought only my iTouch, not my laptop). For next year we'd need to plan ahead and figure out a way to get a critical mass of people on board as well as set things up so that posts from the proper bloggers...

Albert Mao (from Rohit Pappu's lab) gave one of the better Intrinsically Disordered Proteins talks. His approach is to run MD simulations on several highly charged IDPs to determine which properties of the polymer were dictated by charge content versus the aminoacid sequence. It is a simple strategy whose results should be testable by NMR and...

jack Johnson from Scripps gave an amazing talk about the assembly dynamics of HK97. The talk had everything ranging from single molecule tracking of pro-head maturation to a detailed look at the secondary , tertiary and quaternary structure changes involved in maturation.
One of my good buddies works for Jack. Wonder if he's around - Deepak Singh

Ben Hall (from Mark Sansom's lab) described work done with SIDEKICK: a 56-core MacOSX cluster running high-throughput coarse-grained MD simulations of trans-membrane helices. It runs driven by python on top of GROMACS and Xgrid.

Derek Claxton (from the Mchaourab lab) gave a really nice talk describing different types of EPR experiments to deduce conformational changes in the transport cycle of LeuT (bacterial homolog of sodium-neurotransmitter symporter. <http://www.mc.vanderbilt.edu/labs...>

This is an experiment to replicate the microblogging coverage of the ISMB conference at the Biophysical society 2009 conference. The idea is simple , join this room and post or bring in the feed for anything you think that others attending the conference or those outside might like to read about.
Let's see if the biophysical crowd is around here :) - Deepak Singh

I assume there will be free wifi at this thing ;)
I hope so..but its a huge conference , free wifi may imply that nobody is able to ever get online while at the conference - Hari
