We have a personal fireworks banned. We've had it for a couple weeks now. Local municipal fireworks have been canceled. So, what did I see people buying armloads of earlier today? Fireworks. And yes, lady at the supermarket, those sparklers do count.
The news just showed a demonstration by the fire department that showed how fast home fireworks can set dry grass aflame and how quickly it can spread. Very scary.

Today I learned that a lot of the fireworks sellers have been telling people that the local ordinances banning fireworks because of the drought can't overrule the state fireworks laws. I hope that every person stupid enough to believe that gets fined for setting off fireworks illegally during these super-dry conditions.

I hope the impending damage will cost less than the fine revenue.

The sellers should be fined, too. That's lying to customers, even if the customer want to believe it.

They should. I'm pretty sure this is coming from the people who set up temporarily during the summer, not the big fireworks stores that are year-round businesses. Most of these places will be gone after this weekend.
