One thing that has confounded me since I was a kid. Why is smoking in a car legal? There are 20 million things you can't do in a car for safety reasons (and I agree with all of them) but hold fire in your hand and mouth while going 80mph - no problem.

I don't mind if you smoke just not while trying to pass me. Even better smoking and cell phoning.

Driving to eastern WA in May, we saw a girl driving alone in a car completely stacked with boxes of Franzia. The back seat and the passenger seat were stacked to the ceiling with it. And she was on the phone and smoking at the same time.

its funny that the US Federal Gov has no legislation on smoking.. its upto the state to legislate and enforce !

while at it. the 1st country to outlaw ciggs was Bhutan in 1729 !!

Actually CA has been trying for years to outlaw smoking while driving. And John Benoit, a former state assemblymen, drafted and heavily advocated a law that would make eating food while driving illegal, as well as pretty much anything that took either hand off the wheel for a sustained period of time.
