I would vote if I knew what name and category you were in :-)

Sorry, Tim. I think it was "Most interesting tweep to follow" or something like that.

It's ok but I looked all around the categories at http://mashable.com/owa... and cannot find Alister or Cameron anywhere :-/ ... I love voting and wanted to vote for ya :)

"Dave, My REAL fear for the SUL is that it proves that Ev, Biz and team are actually plain DUMB. They are messing with, for want of a better way of putting it, an "ecological balance" and seem completely unaware of what they're doing or the long-term ramifications of it. This would be NO different from Google, in an entirely ad-hoc and unaccountable fashion, promoting certain "friends" and "notables" in the SERPs. Can you imagine the wrath of the masses that would come back on Google for such a "heinous crime"?! That Google would never do this amounts to a "self-evident truth"... and that Twitter *would* do this can only speak to their GROSS naivety. What so magnifies my anger here is that, in parallel with their continuing farce called the SUV, they're clamping down on follow/unfollow "churning" offenders -- of which I am in some sense a guilty party. What intelligent person can reconcile these two, frankly, opposing ethical stances from the same company?! Frankly, I would have no..."

"I'm honoured to start this post off for you with a tweet :) And if nothing else, you've introduced me to Breaking Tweets, which I'd not seen before. That will be a good find, I'm sure. I have so many thoughts of my own about Twitter's "trajectory"... at least some guesses... but they're still brewing in my imagination and will have to percolate some more before a blog post emerges. Thanks for the further stimulation :) -Alister"

Definitely feelin' the love for friendfeed. but just wait 'til the bandwidth gets up there and ff critical mass really kicks in. then performance might be more comparable.
- Rob Schieber
Have to say that I like the new FF more than the old one. :)
- Matti Leppänen
The live update motion is interesting, but might get old pretty soon ... will reserve my judgment.
- Clarence Chiang
Yeah but i use tweetdeck which is fast, but no FF integration...
- Justin Long
Ah scoble found a new toy. I love your youthful enthusiasm.
- Gerard van Schip
Not an entirely fair comparison, most people that use Twitter for much at all are using a 3rd party interface; much of the value of Twitter is in the flexibility of the API
- Dave Schwab
But Robert... Twitter thru the web is useless anyway. It's not a Web site, dude, it's a communications protocol. Who cares what the interface looks like?! We care about the API, about the server performance, etc. We'll code/create/mash our own UIs!
- Alister Cameron
Yes, but I'm dizzy following this. I will have to learn to drive it like a car. I like it for breaking news, but not for real conversation
- Francine Hardaway
unfair.. open old friendfeed and twitter for a real comparison.. when twitter v2 comes out then compare tbh...
- Stuart Evans
Twitter is picking up comments on FF but if FF is linked to Twitter it will republish the Twitter link to the FF comment!
- Justin Long
Agreed, but now FF just looks like Facebook to me.
- Dave Hodson
beta still not available for me, can't wait to test it!
- Arnaud Fischer
checking the brand new beta.friendfeed.com !! is it a combination of iRC , twiter and real time frienfeed and ... wow !!!
- Rocky
I agree with Alister above....Twitter is a utility the way that FM radio is...it carries the convo, there should be no need to use twitter.com
- Jason Stephens
Even with Tweetdeck? There's a balance here. Speed kills!
- Steve Rubel
Please stop with the "Dead" talk. Only attention monger bloggers use that type of language... ;)
- Jeremiah Owyang
Agree with Robert. And Steve has a point about Tweetdeck.
- Roberto Bonini
it's crazy, if I don't at it for one minute everything goes away and other stuff shows up. maybe I just subscribe to too many people but I hate it when the text I'm reading moves on the screen
- Mihai Secasiu
Bernard, The, I think, obvious comparison which you've not explored here is between Relenta and the Gmail/Salesforce combo. While you may not be in a position to comment from experience, I'd like to know if for many, the Gmail/Salesforce "thing" has proven to be a really good solution. Certainly, the pricing or relenta means that it's on a (kind of) par with Salesforce. Nice that...

Nice that Relenta is a clean all-in-one deal, but how can you beat the force.com platform for customization, etc?? Thoughts from others? Follow-up article RRW?? -Alister

Is there something like the TwitterTools plugin for FriendFeed? Specifically, a plugin that will create a digest post of all my entries (and/or likes and/or comments) for the day.
Primarily looking for something that will archive Friendfeed as a daily or weekly post.
- Rob Westbrook
@David thanks but no. @Rob exactly. Sadly I still haven't found this plugin. I guess it doesn't exist yet.
- EricaJoy
Alex King (the guy who wrote twitter tools) says he would do this if it were sponsored. Too bad I can't sponsor a plugins development on my own. In this economy etc...
- EricaJoy
I am currently working on a derivative version of Twitter Tools that will let you create a real post from Twitter Tweets at any time, instead of just the Daily Digest, etc. version, which I have found to be of relatively little use for my blog after having those created for a few weeks a while ago. It's just too disjointed, and FF would probably only be worse. Also note that FF doesn't lose anything, so your stuff is archived, usefulness comes mostly from search.
- Alex Schleber
That sounds cool and all but I really want a digest of my FF entries for the day. :)

How about a WP plugin that takes your likes and makes daily posts of those?
- David Bisset (sn)
Likes aren't important to me. BUT the perfect plugin would allow the owner to choose any combination of comments, likes, or posts. I'd choose comments and posts in such a setup.

Erica, found the plugin wp-lifestream at http://www.ibegin.com/labs.... It's not Friendfeed specific but it does do an archive. I haven't completely set it up, but did use the archive feature today for the first time. Works well. You may want to check it out.
- Rob Westbrook
:( Doesn't grab my FF comments. Since I do most of my typing on FF these days and not so much my site, what I really want is to bring that activity to the 3 people who read my blog. :)
- EricaJoy
Is this something (grab FF Comments and insert in Wordpress Blog) that could be done with Yahoo Pipes? Anyone willing to take it on?
- David HC Soul
With regards to your discussion around Twitter backgrounds, I feel this is an under-utilized thing, and am running a \"Hunt for the Coolest Twitter Page\" to, I guess, stimulate creativity here. Would invite any and all to submit their most impressive \"finds\"... we\'re talking the most innovative background images, the coolest colour schemes... that sort of thing :) http://bit.ly/15h2c

Already played with it a bit today. Having issues with the Ruby installation though. Getting "undefined method collect for #Gem::Version.........

I've been following Appcelerator for a long time and at least on the surface, Titanium looks great. But it will come down to buy-in from developers. Someone needs to do some side-by-side comparisons with AIR apps, in terms of stability, speed, development ease/speed, etc. Let's see how far Jeff and team can make the funding go... but two thumbs up for "balls" and creativity, thus far. Impressed. -Alister

Wakey wakey world... Islam DOES NOT integrate. It is not in its nature to do so. There is only one way it can go as it strengthens in any given country: the imposition of Shari'a... either beside or instead of the legal framework of the host nation. Check your history before you disagree.

Heck, I don't want Tarpipe and Ping.fm to compete. I need/want them both! Surely they can co-exist somehow?? If ping.fm could be present as a Tarpipe input connector thingy, I'd be delighted :) -Alister
