Apparently, people think it's odd to ask your bank to give you $50 in dollar coins and $20 in quarters. Who knew? :)
On'y because it's not a Navy town. Brings to mind a fun story of a guy who was just exceptionally lucky, to the point of ridiculousness. The man's name was Chris and he had been selected to Chief Petty Officer. The selectees had to pay their dues (~100 dollars)to the Chief's mess in Sacajawea dollars by Saturday. In the course of the week, one of his fellow selectees, Matt, busted his butt going from bank to bank scrounging up a few dollars here and a few there, going to more than a dozen banks to put together his dues. On Thursday night, Chris and him were talking and Matt asked how the hunt for dollars were going. Chris said he hadn't had time and wasn't going to get a chance until Friday afternoon. In the back of his head Matt thought "Man, you are screwed". Saturday morning rolls around and Chris has his set of coins, as well as two extra sets! When Matt asked how he managed that, Chris just shrugged and said "I just went to my regular bank and they had plenty!" Classic example of the sort of luck he had. - Charles Fenwick
