Her Lindsay-ness
Since I can't figure out any other way to forward it without looking like it came from me... Here's the message I received last evening and noticed today.
AntiVoteSMS.jpg
Yes, it's a bit funny, yes, you shouldn't be fooled and, yes, maybe the people who believe it shouldn't be voting anyway. Regardless, it offends me because someone is out there blatantly trying to trick people into not voting, and specifically not voting for a particular candidate. That's just bad and they deserve to be called out on it for attempting to infringe on peoples' right to vote. - Her Lindsay-ness
I don't think this is a blatant or malicious/serious attempt to trick people. just sayin - Lindsey is Fierce!
A friend used to tell me that he thinks some people are too dumb to vote. And who decides what's too dumb, I'd ask him. Me, he'd say. Problem with that, I said, is that there's always someone smarter than you out there. That used to shut him up till he got accepted into MENSA. sigh. I just can't win. I give up. :D - ♥patricia♥
Whose phone number did you just post? :) - Mattb4rd
It's not a blatent attempt at terrorism when you make a joke about a bomb in an airport security line, but it's still dealt with seriously. You don't fool around with peoples' rights. Maybe I'm overreacting, but it seems like a serious issue to me. - Her Lindsay-ness
Yes, it is blatantly trying to trick people and it is fraud, as it's tampering with elections. - Anika
Smart is as smart does Mrs. Pea Woozle. - Mattb4rd
Guess it could go the other way, send a text message back saying: 'Strange, I heard that McCain voters were asked to vote on Wednesday!" - Les Zaldor
republican wackos embrace technology. great.... - Danielle
Reshared into the US Politics room: http://friendfeed.com/e... Whoops, fixed the link. - Daniel J. Pritchett
Call the number and see who picks up. - Rochelle
I live in Phoenix... so yeah, not surprised about that. Wonder how whoever it is got my number though. I hardly ever give out my mobile number to anyone. I usually give out my GrandCentral instead. - Her Lindsay-ness
@bluecockatoo I don't think you're overreacting. This is serious. If it was intended as a joke, it's a very poor decision. This is electoral fraud and should be dealt with seriously regardless of intent. - ·[▪_▪]·
Called the number... Got an answering machine saying to leave a message for "Lisa". - Her Lindsay-ness
total speculation, but Nathan Sproul runs a GOP vote-mill out of a consultancy in AZ. in 2004, he was accused of actually tossing Dem registrations in the trash. [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki...]. the following source is a bit biased, but i think the facts/links are correct: [http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008...] - MikeAmundsen
Isn't Sproul still in jail? He was arrested (finally) for his BS here in CA. - Anika
I freaking hate crap like this. - Derrick
I saw a tweet like this earlier. I'm afraid someone in the US may believe it--maybe a first time voter. - Valley
There is a lot of that going around: http://omgplzstfukthx.blogspot.com/2008... - April Russo (app103)
I saw a tweet like that, too. I don't think it's funny at all. Should not be forwarded at all. It is dangerous because some people don't know better. I also think it's just wrong to think someone should know better just because YOU do. - Rahsheen ™, Coach of FF
I'm afraid that a person who believes this kind of email may actually hold an important position in the workforce - Lindsey is Fierce!
+1, Niguel and Rahsheen. - Cheryl Jones
ouch....wonder how many people will believe that which is sad. - Zehn
I think y'all have bigger issues than a text message: http://friendfeed.com/e... - Shey, Jamaican of FF
@Shey, you're right... it's bad on both sides... and in both cases the people who do it should be held responsible... and their parties should also apologize for it. - Her Lindsay-ness
