I just figured out a good use for rooms: my personal review cache. I made a private room for me to repost stuff I want to review later but can't at the time like when I'm at work. That way I don't have to use likes as a way to bookmark stuff anymore and can use them only for stuff I actually like.
http://readbag.com/ was designed for that purpose but you can certainly use a Friendfeed room too. - Morton Fox
@Morton, I checked out readbag the other day and didn't get it... Wasn't sure what it does that del.icio.us doesn't do. Did I miss something? - Lindsay is :)
It would be great then to be able to post to your blog from here then. Might not be that hard to implement metaweblog support. - Tris Hussey
Lindsay: I think the only improvement readbag brings to the process is it lets you archive (remove from read list but still keep somewhere) stuff that you've read. - Morton Fox
super great call. i've been "liking" things just to store and reference them. rooms keep me from lying!!...via feedalizr - @baratunde
Great call Lindsay. Just created my own private saved items room. - Hutch Carpenter

How is this different from using del.icio.us and tagging with "check_out_later"? BTW, this is the only way i get to talk to my wife... who's in the office next door... just down the hall... - Tad, Anti-Immanentizer
When I mentioned that I might use a private Friendfeed room to bookmark some stuff, I too got opposition to that idea. I think part of the attraction is convenience. If you're on Friendfeed all the time, might as well use it for one more thing, even if del.icio.us is better. - Morton Fox
It's different because I won't add anything to Del.icio.us without dutifully tagging and writing a summary description. Can't do that with something I haven't had time to review yet. So two clicks to move it to my room or a bunch of typing to send it to Del.icio.us. And I can stay in FriendFeed for all activities. Besides, bookmarking it in Del is "voting" for it and if I haven't reviewed it I don't know if I want to vote on it yet. - Lindsay is :)
Ok - i like all those reasons. Is it time for bed yet? - Tad, Anti-Immanentizer
Hmm... I've never considered bookmarking on delicious to be "voting" for it, but I suppose i can see that, I never used to think about the social aspect of delicious. There is the ability to check the "do not share" box when creating a delcious bookmark. I think I prefer tagging things "toread" and not sharing them until I get a chance to come back to it. Then I can use the FF delcious plugin to have a ToRead dropdown available all the time. - Ben Reierson
I did this the second I found out about Rooms. - Gadiel Rivera
Great idea, I'm also using a room to archive my daughters twitter account and images. Basically an online journal for her to look at in 18 years. - Mike Fruchter
