When I picked up my kids for the weekend, I was introduced to Vera the Enormous Spider. I took these with my iPhone, which doesn't have a macro lens. Vera appears to be a Golden Silk Spider. She has a mate who is so small, he really doesn't show. - Chris Baskind
And those are two of may way-cool kids in the background: James and Alexandra. They're the youngest. - Chris Baskind
I wanted to post these a long time ago but I couldn't because they were background images on the page instead of images (where I found them). - Lindsay Donaghe
i have to say, you eat about ten thousand times better than I do. which would be fine except that I actually have some idea of what Im missing. - Nathan Rein
although I ALSO have to say that every time my eyes pass over this post, the occurrence of "cracked" and "smoked" in the same line makes me think of something totally different - Nathan Rein
We had a lot of fun trial fitting all the equipment tonight. I thought he was going to freak out. If he's claustrophobic I'm out big money! - Geoff Longman
"For anyone who's ever wished to, but had trouble starting, keeping, or finishing a journal or sketchbook comes Wreck This Journal, an illustrated book that features a subversive collection of prompts, asking readers to muster up their best mistake- and mess-making abilities to fill the pages of the book (and destroy them). Acclaimed illustrator Keri Smith encourages journalers to engage in "destructive" acts-poking holes through pages, adding photos and defacing them, painting with coffee, and more-in order to experience the true creative process. Readers discover a new way of art and journal making-and new ways to escape the fear of the blank page and fully engage in the creative process." - Evangeline
"So delicate and lovely is the silhouette created by this koi necklace: every piece of it is light and rather luminous, from the 14k gold-filled chain and findings to the gorgeous faceted pear briolette of the greenest turquoise and finally the little leather koi, tooled and painted in shades of yellow from cream to marigold." - joneilortiz via Bookmarklet

@Aden: Where would one start looking for this cane sugar version of Dr. Pepper? - Cheryl Jones
I don't care if this makes me sound insane, but it's Dr Pepper not Dr. Pepper! You can order sugar-cane DP from the Dublin bottling plant. Hot Dr Pepper needs to be made with the sugar-cane stuff. (I did a DP vacation once to Texas.) - kendra
@Cheryl Being in Texas it is easy for me to find it Dublin style. You can order it online if you are a big fan and don't mind spending the money. http://www.straubs.com/product... - Aden
I've driven through Dublin, TX on the way elsewhere. I should have bought some. - Yolanda
Go on the tour! They give you a cup of some of the best Dr Pepper ever. - kendra
There is a can of Dr. Pepper sitting on my desk. Ahhh. That was a refreshing sip. - Kate Kapetanakis
@Aden: Thanks! I'll consider getting some Dr P "Dublin style" online. My cousin also love Dr P, so perhaps I'll get some for a Christmas "stocking stuffer". :D - Cheryl Jones
I love Dr Pepper too. Thanks for the heads-up on the sugar-cane stuff! - Mitchell Tsai
Thanks to this tweet I just ordered Dr Pepper to come with our pizza! - Tad - just Tad
I am not ashamed at all to say I have the empty cardboard husk of a 12-pack sitting in my fridge right now. It's wasting a bit of electricity, but also serves as a reminder to me that, yes, I do need to go out and get some Pepper at some point. - Pete Delucchi
@Beth that's what I do. @Mark I think you might be being a wee bit humble Mark. - Steve Spalding
Are we talking Ph.D. level? World's foremost expert? If not, then I would go with sports history. - Julian
Steve: if I have seen a little further it is by standing on the shoulders of giants. Everything I know has been taught to me by others, so there isn't anything I think others don't know. - Mark Trapp
i am an expert at knowing a little bit about a lot of things. - rochelle <3man
@Mark and that, my friend, is "something" if I've ever heard it. You'd be surprised at how few people have that particular skill. - Steve Spalding
@Julian I wouldn't take it that far, just something you think you know really, really well. - Steve Spalding
visual art, and only better than folks who didn't learn it the way I did. fellow artists tend to be on par. - Kamilah Gill
I'd have to admit that my knowledge of the oevres of UK actors/actresses verges on the strange and uselessly comprehensive. - Bran Mydwynter
New Media - I've been producing indie/new media for more than half of my life. - Mark "Rizzn" Hopkins
@Mark Good call Mark, I think you bring up a good distinction -- for things like New Media there are plenty of people who "know" it and only a tiny fraction who Know it. - Steve Spalding
As in dealing with the cousin from halfaway around the world who wants to do the eulogy for you dad's funeral. That sort of thing. I'm good at handling the weird people-ish sort of things that happen at funerals (because I used to sing at them alot). - Ryan Deschamps
Books. Libraries. Research. Of course other librarians are good at these things too. :) - Squirrel Girl
@Ryan that's actually really interesting. @Squirrel Heh. - Steve Spalding
As the daughter and granddaughter of morticians, I might have to join Ryan with the funeral dynamics skill set. Also, I know a lot about Progressive Era librarianship, cookie baking, and psychological warfare against siblings! - Katy Southern
Biographies of Sylvia Plath and memoirs by mentally ill people. - Laura Xett
My internal landscape. Ain't no shrink managed to get a handle on it yet! - Slippy Lane
It's really heartening to see how diverse the answers have been, keep them coming. :) - Steve Spalding
The Garny Gorge is made out of a high number of basalt columns. It’s an absolute must-see if you find yourself in Armenia. It’s a wonderful canyon shaped by the ever-flowing river Goght river. Atop the basalt walls of the gorge the famous 1st century Garni temple can be seen. - Cee Bee
We have some very interesting symmetrical patterns of pillow basalt in the Appalachians as well. Flipped me out when I first stumbled upon them. - Jody C
Ohh, good tip, Aden. We'll be at the Suites at Hershey. It's 1 mile from the park, not sure about the factory, so hopefully we can smell the nomness all night long! - Hao Chen
