I didnt really want to add everyone i know on friendfeed to my facebook, i like to keep them seperate as much as i can. but you know what, fuck it http://www.facebook.com/simon... add a note saying you;re from friendfeed if you add me, then i can group everyone up :)
- Simon Wicks
Thanks, Simon. I've not started going through these yet. :-)
- Kol Tregaskes
I'm only going to add the people i actually talk to on here. I have a lot less people on my follow list than you, so its a bit easier for me :)
- Simon Wicks
Remember, guys. According to FB, you're only allowed 5000 friends. Spend them wisely.
- James Myatt
As if we weren't before? Were they really that many people here who didn't also have a FB account, even if they didn't list it in their profile? I've been with FB since 2004
- LANjackal
Well, with this news it is pushing me to start using my real name for web services and to kill (or at least slowly stop using) the tomit persona that I have used for many years. Find me here... http://www.facebook.com/ronaldb...
- tomit
FF better figure out how not to destroy themselves (if possible) with this merger. Friendfeed in the FB interface will not work. I think FF really just f*cked themselves.
- Ethan
I'm on Facebook, but I don't have a name in my profile URL (yet; I'm still new...). But if you want it, it's http://www.facebook.com/profile... -- if you friend me, tell me you're from FF.
- Dennis Jernberg
I don't freaking have one because I never wanted to sign up for Facebook. :P Now I find out that through no fault of my own I'm technically a Facebook user? GAH.
- Cheryl Jones
http://facebook.com/alex.covic - I will friend everybody - for those of you concerned with friend/family + privacy = you can create lists (just like ff-groups) to keep FF-users in a different corner;-).
- Alex 'BuckyBit' Covic
I do not use it much LOL I just post to it from other sites so to fill up my friends stream, I do get messages and some status in text. Anyone who really wants to add me, use the facebook link on my profile. :o)
- David Gross
www.facebook.com/drodzand you won't see much since I got the privacy settings on max in Facebook. Just another reason why I think Facebook is completely different from friendfeed. I hope they keep friendfeed running because I use both services in diametrically diverse ways.
- David Rodriguez
http://www.facebook.com/kimbers... (I can remember if I commented on this already. I don't see "You" on the list, but I'm tired. So, hopefully, I didn't. If I did, oh well.
- Kimber Scott
Thanks Rob, I had forgotten my username for I always used my email address to login - I found there is a settings > username > change thing that lets you change your username once and then you get a facebook.com/username url!
- TrafficBug
I am thinking about just using my Public Page more. Keep my regular profile for family and coworker data. Follow me here if you want more of the type of posts I do here of Friendfeed. http://www.facebook.com/pages...
- tomit
I wishlisted it, then jonesed, then ordered it as my xmas gift to myself. I bloody well deserve it because I'm spending xmas by myself again...
- Spidra Webster
I wish I could afford this...however, I have a cunning plan!
- Carlton Hackett
I shouldn't. But I did. I'll be cutting back elsewhere.
- Spidra Webster
I do love Scarlett, but I have to say that the last few times I've seen Anne on television (SNL, Letterman, etc.) I've been blown away by her beauty... and those long long legs!
- Mark "Godt Nyt Ǻr"
Scarlett. She's obviously outdoors in the sun, whereas Anne is inside, probably with air conditioning. She's much cooler.
- Glen Campbell, esq.
Anne's beauty is otherworldly. It's hard to believe she's real, actually.
- Spidra Webster
@Glen, Hathaway won't look like a dried up prune when she gets older since she spends her time indoors. ;-)
- Jason Huebel
Ouch, really tough one but I'll have to go with Hathaway too.
- ronin
Actually, neither do it for me the way a Kristin Chenoweth or Carla Gugino do, but both girls photograph well. Anne has doe eyes whereas Scarlet has that bombshell figure
- RAPatton
from iPhone
Anne Hattaway, because she's kind of crazy so I have a shot at her. Scarlett is married to a guy with a six-pack, so there's too much for me to compete with. Translation: Hotter = the one more likely to fuck me.
- Ciaoenrico
anne hathaway - she never looks like a cliché - pure style
- barbarars
hmm, maybe she is bitchy and fridged...
- Kristee Kelley
yeah,,,, you could be right Kristee.... I'm kidding... I'm kidding. I'd take you any day instead Kristee ;-) ...but first I have to keep my big mouth quiet on facebook about your identity
- Noah David Simon
i sometimes get compared to him in terms of appearance lately. not sure how i feel about that. :|
- Joe Silence
Actually, you remind me of Jack Black, Joe Silence!
- Adrian
They performed together in Second City Toronto, I believe. This was pre SCTV.
- Molly, New Ears :P
oh dear, i am Kung Fu Panda now! 0_o
- Joe Silence
Actually, just looked it up and they both performed in Chicago, not Toronto. I didn't realize John Candy performed in Second City Chicago, I knew he performed in Toronto.
- Molly, New Ears :P
Well, Joe, I find Jack Black quite attractive. Despair not :)
- LAST DAY OF WORK
""THIS is the kind of snooping you'd expect in China, not a modern western democracy. It raises huge questions over privacy invasion and freedom of expression." So says Andrew Heaney - who is not, as you might imagine, a civil liberties campaigner, but a senior executive at TalkTalk, one of the UK's largest internet service providers. Along with other ISPs, his company faces the prospect of being forced to spy on its customers' downloads for signs of potential copyright infringement. Heaney's disquiet is shared by web campaigners worldwide, as the measures contained in a controversial international copyright treaty (New Scientist, 5 July 2008, p 24) are slowly being translated into national laws variously tipped to bridge, distract from or widen the gulf between the entertainment industry's desires and those of the millions who share copyrighted material over the internet."
- Steven Perez
from Bookmarklet
"ACTA is still being worked up in secret by trade delegations from the many nations involved. But a series of leaks to the Wikileaks website reveal that it will require ISPs to become technological sleuths who monitor their customers' internet use to "deter unauthorised storage and transmission of infringing content". Infringers will face a "graduated response", with disconnection as the ultimate sanction."
- Carlton Hackett
I don't know if I ever saw HMC. I like Wall-E enough, but I don't LOVE it the way a lot of other folks out there do.
- Derrick
Very tough decision, however I must err on the side of robots
- Mo Kargas
My animator friends think Wall-E is pretty dumb and have nothing but complaints about it after humans get introduced into the film. :-/
- Jon, the Chilled Beartato
I saw HMC awhile back when the theater where I lived got it in. Was dubbed, which sucked, but I really dug the story.
- Jon, the Chilled Beartato
I like Miyazaki's other movies better than Howl's. I mean its ok and it def shows off Miyazaki's abilities, but Spirited Away, Castle in the Sky, etc. are awesome
- Sir Shuping
Spirited Away is redonkulous. I love that flick.
- Derrick
Wall•E. Oddly enough, Howl's Moving Castle is my least favorite Miyazaki just right behind Princess Mononoke. Give me Spirited Away (by far the best) or My Neighbor Totoro any day of the week.
- Akiva Moskovitz
I am also surprised that I'm going with Wall-E. I generally avoid Pixar films...but this one was too good to be ignored. Though Howl's is also extremely beautiful.
- Carlton Hackett
I *heart* Wall-E. I get the criticisms about the human part, but for me the first half was so transcendent that I don't care. I also love HMC, though - actually one of my favorite Miyazaki films.
- Jandy, ConcertMaven of FF
Jandy, I feel the same way about Wall•E. It would have been an unbeatable classic if they had added another 10-15 minutes and built up the human rebellion side of the major conflict.
- Akiva Moskovitz
Eh and I am fine Laura :) Working on subject guides, listening to comedy.
- Pete
I am fueling up with an espresso beverage. I'll get back to you. :)
- aden
Laura, I'm having an awesome day. I can feel it coming. Instead of being at work at 6:30, I woke up at 6:30. I'm having a lovely breakfast, and I'm glad to hear that have some sun out that way. :)
- ha3rvey (business time)
Good Morning! I've been up for a few hours ever since having bad dreams about The Joker....guess playing over 4 hours of Batman: Arkham Asylum wasn't such a hot idea! LOL
- Carlton Hackett
I'm not sure as I catch it online during the weekends but I love this silly show. Glad others do too because that means a full season of it. Yay! More TV! :D
- pea
It didn't! I have no idea what it was, a friend sent me the pic and I was so horrified I had to force everyone else to see it. I would flee and scream like a little girl if I saw this in my house
- Haggis (Sean Loyless)
are those....*fangs* at the front? Cool looking as long as it's not anywhere near me.
- WorldofHiglet
You can keep it outside. In a hermetically sealed chamber. With tinted windows. DO NOT WANT IN THIS HOUSE.
- Haggis (Sean Loyless)
I just found my Xmas present for Anika...She will love this for her bug collection... hehehe
- Bill Heslin
This is a Dobsonfly http://bacn.me/7dw It's a male and cannot actually bite. Females can however. They are native to all 50 states. Even California where like everything else, bugs are illegal.
- Christian (Simply X)
"They are not poisonous, but possess an irritating, foul-smelling anal spray as a last-ditch defense"... it even FARTS... I love it! :D
- Andrea (Notorious)
Tell me what country that is from and I'll put that on my do-not-visit list ;-) (oh, nuts... it's here in the US???? - help me!)
- Ken Stewart | ChangeForge
I am *so* gonna try to find one of these somewhere and pose with it. I think I saw one of these on one of the screen doors at my parents' house once. I admit that it made even my bug-loving heart jump a little. I at least knew in advance that such things existed.
- Kamilah Gill
that looks like something right out of the Australian outback...yikes!
- Susan Beebe
Updated the title since most people won't want to read the 70 comments to find the answer. :D
- Haggis (Sean Loyless)
@Haggis ....LOLz! hell, no, I wasn't going to wade through 70+ comments to find the answer. my "Boll Weevil" ploy worked! i got the answer in just 2 comments! now THAT is real-time search.
- .LAG liked that
Ok, I've successfully stayed up an hour later than planned. I call it a night, and as usual I say Good night, FriendFeed, Good work. Sleep well. I'll most likely kill you in the morning
Apparently the whole "being in HELL" part of the game is absolutely okay, just no killing bad babies while you're there. Because, obviously, people in HELL are quite easily offended, you know!
- Carlton Hackett
Happy Friday, friends. My goal for today is to get to 6pm when my couch and I have a HAWT date. Today's shoes are courtesy of my main man, Steve Madden. Red Mary Janes, again!
Reed's a great cuddler, other than the occasional hair-pulling. These days I get much more cuddling out of Reed than the husband. He's not the touchy-feeley type, to my great disappointment.
- Meredith
Those are so hot!!! I love Steve Maddens. *jealous of your feets*
- Carmen - Happy 2010!
Good morning, Mary Carmen. So. You need me to rub your feet again? OOPS I'VE SAID TOO MUCH. :)
- Steven Perez
hey does this pole still work?...you gotta try this pole!
- Sir Shuping
If I'm wrong, nothing happens! We go to jail, peacefully, quietly. We'll enjoy it. But if I'm right, and we can stop this thing. Lenny, you will have saved the lives of millions of registered voters.
- Glenn Slaven
"This city is headed for a disaster of biblical proportions." "What do you mean, "biblical"?" "What he means is Old Testament, Mr. Mayor, real wrath of God type stuff." "Exactly." "Fire and brimstone coming down from the skies! Rivers and seas boiling!" "Forty years of darkness! Earthquakes, volcanoes..." "The dead rising from the grave!" "Human sacrifice, dogs and cats living together... mass hysteria!"
- mjc
That's great! actual physical contact! can you move?
- Sir Shuping
You're right. No human being would stack books like this
- chaz2b
Shevonne, you're totally right. Never made that connection before.
- Ginger Makela Riker
Everything about this is ill. The glasses are the piece de resistance, though. And, Ginger, that haircut was, in fact, called "The Gumby".
- Jason Toney
I once wore my hair in a Gumby cut...all cuz of the Every Little Step video. Yeah...glad there are no pics!!!
- Carlton Hackett
Nothing really. I usually make coffee, but it doesn't really wake me up, I just enjoy the stuff.
- Ian May
Coffee and cartoons...or Saved by the Bell. Mostly coffee though.
- Carlton Hackett
I have a three step process - (1) hot shower, (2) very loud music & (3) coffee.
- Stefanie Hahn
I can't do the very loud music. I need something gentle. When I used to have to get up at 4am and drive 40 miles I used to enjoy relaxing nighttime radio.
- Ian May
the realisation that i have two little girls who depend on me for almost everything. that and a cuppa tea.
- Joe Silence
Yum, is that mashed potatoes on the side? I swear they put crack in their mashed potatoes and red beans and rice.
- Trish R
Yes, it *was* mashed potatoes. Sometimes, I take the chicken pieces and scoop up the potatoes that way. *drool*
- Admiral Anika
James, I'm in NE (just outside of Boston) and was surprised when they opened one up this summer just a few minutes from my house! Unfortunately, I've heard from friends that the service there is awful, so I haven't been yet. -_-
- Penguin It's Cold Outside
I'm not sure if we have a Popeye's anymore. Never had chicken from there. I did go to Church's a couple times though. Comparison or no?
- Arlan Koizumi
Church's doesn't compare to Popeye's, in my experience. Church's tends to be greasy and bland. Popeye's isn't. Church's does have better mashed potatoes than KFC, but that's not saying much.
- Admiral Anika
By golly! There's one in downtown Minneapolis... 21.93 miles away! Probably won't get there tonight, but that's good to know!
- Mark "Godt Nyt Ǻr"
yeah, my attitude is if I have to use the block feature, I'm doing something wrong. So far, I haven't blocked anyone though I've been blocked. Meh, their loss.
- David C. Cooper
Joey posted how to check if you've been blocked but I didn't get it. (Yes, I'm slow.) How do you do it? Please talk down to me.
- SAM
I've got to be up there on the "most blocked" list. I get a LOT of blocks, too.
- Rochelle
I would believe that Soulhuntr is more blocked then Cristo or MVB
- Uncle CW™
You do, Rochelle? I have a tough time believing that. Not that I doubt you, but rather, why would anyone block you? I have yet to see you write anything remotely controversial.
- MVB (Curmudgeon of FF)
WHY AM I THE ONLY TO COMMENT ON THIS THREAD? :(
- directeur
MVB, I can easily list 10-12 people I know of who have blocked me, and I'm certain there are others I don't know about. Several of the blocks have been from people who say I post too many baby pictures and/or talk too much about baby things. I'm not sure about all of the others.
- Rochelle
MVB, thats probably because you have him blocked and forgot about him. :P
- Uncle CW™
No, I moved him out of my main feed because he stopped participating.
- MVB (Curmudgeon of FF)
Rochelle, I'm struggling to wrap my head around that. Strange...
- MVB (Curmudgeon of FF)
I just went through some of my Friends history and have counted that I've been blocked by 13 people since August. Who knows how many before that.
- Rochelle
Even I haven't been blocked that many times and I'm pretty much the FriendFeed version of roid rage.
- Akiva Moskovitz
Noah David Simon is probably at the top.
- Jimminy Fuller
Being blocked would be awesome...at least it would mean people paid attention to me. :( lol
- Carlton Hackett
Didn't Frank Zappa do a song about this? "I'm a BLOCKIN' FOO-oooo-oool, I'm a blockin' foo-oooo-ooool!" (If @directeur hadn't blocked me, he'd know what I'm talking about!)
- Mark "Godt Nyt Ǻr"
Stones - "Satisfaction" can't always get what you want etc...
- WarLord
Carlton, looking at your feed (the first page, anyway), I don't see any native FF posts prior to 1 hour ago. Almost all of your Twitter posts are @ replies. To me, that's a major isue if you're looking for comments and interaction. People don't tend to comment on Twitter and Facebook posts here in FF unless you're already well established.
- Rochelle
You're hilarious, buddy. Not everyone gets your humor though. You're OK by me
- LANjackal
Blocking is ok though it never feels ok to be blocked. :) Seriously just interact here and communicate with us. You'll be surprised at the communication that may go on. Have fun with it!
- James Stratford
They don't call it Fiend Feed for nothing.
- BLOGBloke
Thanks James. I think I'm starting to get the hang of it.
- Cristo
what? Nah, so what if they've blocked you. Ignore it. You are a valuable member of this community.
- Thomas Hawk
Cristo, stick around. FF rules as you can see from all the support
- Shane
I think everyone should post "Cristo is a valuable member of the FriendFeed community." so all my blocker friends can see it. :)
- Cristo
Do we get to pick our own images for this Cristo meme ?
- Eric Logan
Aren't you at least due for a wipe and restart?
- LogEx
LE, the problem with that is it takes a long time to build your subscriber count back up again. Without subscribers, you don't get a lot of interaction on FF.
- Cristo
Well, the new avatar is 273% better than the old one, so that's a plus.
- LogEx
Hmm. I tested and I personally do say these the same. /ˈɔrəl/ for aural (http://dictionary.reference.com/browse...), and /ˈɔrəl/ for oral. But I guess I do hear people saying /ˈoʊrəl/ sometimes. (http://dictionary.reference.com/browse...) Regional accents do vary, but honestly I bet most people in the U.S. pronounce these the same even if they think they sound different in their heads.
- Stephen Mack
Which reminds me, I was going to teach Kamilah the IPA.
- Stephen Mack
Interesting. It's like pen/pin, hill/heel and form/farm for me. In my head, they sounded different, but my voice & diction teacher used to go nuts telling me I was saying them the same.
- Admiral Anika
Is this in reference to anything in particular?
- Fleagle
@Fleagle- mostly just referring to the jerks on Xbox Live who feel that their supposed anonymity is a good reason to break out the racist jokes! :(
- Carlton Hackett
Web anonymity is the scourge of our society. I really believe that. It creates monsters. Monsters of the worst kind, without any sort of accountability for what they say. XBOX Live is surely one of the worst examples there is. It's almost completely forced me to stop using it altogether. Thank God for great games like "Bioshock", which don't require the Live element to be compelling.
- Fleagle
That is the bonus side of single-player games! And Bioshock really is a wonderful game! Web Anonymity can be good in some cases, but like all things, when abused, it allows the jerks to release the inner-jerks they really are! :(
- Carlton Hackett
Assassin's Creed 3 possibly in World War II with female character - Assassin's Creed 3, Second World War, Ubisoft - PC Games Hardware - http://www.pcgameshardware.com/aid,697...
