"Photographic technique is no secret and—provided the interest is there—easily assimilated. But inspiration comes from the soul and when the Muse isn’t around even the best exposure meter is very little help ... artists like Michelangelo, da Vinci and Bach said that their most valuable technique was their ability to inspire themselves. This is true of all artists; the moment there is something to say, there becomes a way to say it. - Ralph Gibson"

"Pictures are often made for no other reason than that the act demonstrates the power of the photographer over time, the partial fulfillment of a deeply rooted wish. - Ralph Evans"

"We are only beginning to learn what to say in a photograph. The world we live in is a succession of fleeting moments, any one of which might say something significant. When such an instant arrives, I react intuitively. There is, I think, an electronic impulse between my eye and my finger. But even this is not enough. I dream that someday the step between my mind and my finger will no longer be needed. And that simply by blinking my eyes, I shall make pictures. Then, I think, I shall really have become a photographer. - Alfred Eisenstaedt"

"It is a peculiar part of the good photographer's adventure to know where luck is most likely to lie in the stream, to hook it, and to bring it in without unfair play and without too much subduing it. - James Rufus Agee"

"This is Patrick. He's a special boy. Special to me for various reasons. He can beat me in pretty much any video game at 4. He's a fellow Dolphins fan, who faithfully cheers on Ronnie Brown and Ricky Williams every week (he's convinced that every play should be Ronnie throwing to Ricky from the wildcat offense—yes, he knows what the wildcat is. He's a far more consistent and level-headed golfer than I am. He's one of my godsons; he's also the definition of "awesome." Why? Because I say so, of course. Patrick's got a new little brother, Grayson, over which he's protective and loving. He's pretty proud of his brother, who arrived 7 weeks early in good health but couldn't come home for a while."
