Thoughts are nerve impulses but you are not your thoughts (I am sore but I am safe) #EPain
conceptual change message: challenge, result in threat appraisal, intention 2 change, indepth processing, reflection behaviour change #Epain
yellow flags: 3. withdrawal from social activity and 4. belief that if I have pain I must be harmed somewhere. #EPain
Presenting conceptual change message can also result in weak positive change, superficial processing, avoidance intention heuristics #Epain
don't construct a knowledge display in response to patients - instead construct a story that they can use to change their concept #Epain
yellow flags: 1. belief there has to be a passive answer (why can't you fix this). 2. fear avoidance (of pain OR of reinjury) #EPain
recognising thought viruses in patients - thoughts/beliefs which are linked to chronic pain - these are yellow flags #Epain
David Butler Education targets is impt for patients in setting goals-multimedia interventions including internet, books can be useful #Epain
Patients often show a latency period having a delayed pain response eg 10 days after original cause #Epain

Suggested pattern of central sensitivity - the ongoing pattern generation is impt - look for clues #EPain
