How can I find out if you've subscribed to my FriendFeed? - Lawrence Liu
via twhirl
According to the little bubble, not me. Even though you said the other day I was being added to the World Wide Talk Show. ;-) Oops, can't press Enter for a newline. What I was going to say, prior to the Post button getting unexpectedly pressed, is that I cannot imagine following 20,000 (or even some fraction of that) on FF. It's gotta be tough as it is on Twitter. - Joanmarie
Guessing that comments are the way to let you know :) - Jed White
Holy crap. You've practically got the SNN goin' on - Scoble News Network ?? You will all be featured this week on Fast Company TV - Submit bio to ... - Charlie Anzman
This is the greatest thing to happen to anyone ever! Cheesecake for everybody. - Akiva Moskovitz
I let you know via Twitter, perhaps this is more appropriate. - bill shamam
IF you are able to WITHSTAND fair portion of Russian (sorry, but I try to bring here my community from Russian segment of livejournal.com after buyout disaster) and/or stream of Nokia-tablet/Maemo/etc related-stuff and/or a lot of bitch about this and that... http://friendfeed.com/silpol ;) - silpol
Robert, I appreciate your efforts, but I'm afraid that if I follow you (and you follow me in return), I'll have to deal with a lot of noise, and a lot of hype. Once you get worked up about something, you have this need to talk about it all the time, and to impose your point of view (ex: FaceBook). That's why I unsubscribed from your blog a while back. I couldn't deal with it any more. You shot down two of my comments without even bothering to consider them. Take this for what it's worth, no hard feelings. - Raoul Pop
You're not subscribed to me, here, but anything I have to say that might be interesting to you, I say in a comment anyway... I'm not very talkative, but I enjoy watching your conversation! - Kenneth LeFebvre
reminds me of a display I saw at the guggenheim a few years ago showing a stream of lines off of websites and IRC based on a word like Love, Hate, etc... interesting - Sean Reiser

“To all my friendfeed friends: if I don't know who you are, I might not subscribe back to you. Sorry. If I should know who you are, then you should probably know how to reach me by email and explain my mistake :)”
People seem to assume there's this expectation of reciprocity, which I find weird. It wouldn't even occur to me to apologize for not friending someone back, or not friending someone at all, even if I do know them. Maybe it has to do with the word "friend". - ⓞnor
FWIW, I definitely don't care whether the people I friend have friended me back. - ƃuɐʞ
I don't think that friending or not is related to "friend" status (though I have friendfeed friends that I have not met IRL), but more noise control. I regularly purge people when I feel I have too much chatter or the signal quality for what I'm interested in goes down. I've even had "real" friends I thought about un-friending on friendfeed for all the pictures of cats. - Clare Dibble
Pictures of cats are a matter of taste. If looking at kittens and babies is what it takes to make you a good, nice person, have at it. But I'm not a huge fan. - Clare Dibble
I try to put up plenty of cat and baby pictures specifically to dissuade those strangers who friended me and I don't know. (Kidding! Please don't feel slighted all my stranger-followers!) - Kevin Fox
I usually will not friend people back when they have a lot of content in there which I do not understand language wise, or i see a lot of stuff I am really not interested in. or if I really do not like you. sometimes it also can be that I just overlooked you but then again, in my area of work paths cross again all the time. - Nicole Simon
I really have no idea where all my stranger-followers come from. How do they even find me? I'm not exactly a high volume poster. I thought maybe they randomly subscribe to everyone, but I checked a few and they don't always have a large number of subscriptions. It never even occurred to me to subscribe back. I don't even have time to keep up with people I know. One of the attractive things about FriendFeed is its non-obligatory nature--I can wander in and out for as short a time as I have. - Ruchira S. Datta
I could email you at work but you still probably wouldn't know who I am. I'm OK with you not subscribing to my feed though. :) - Erica Baker
The word "friend" definitely implies reciprocity -- you can't be someone's friend unless they are friends with you. But for me, FriendFeed is less about following friends and more about following people with interesting feeds (some of whom are strangers). I think I'm subscribed to about 8% of the people who are subscribed to me, and I don't care whether I follow are following me. - Jess Lee
And yes, I do subscribe to some people whom I don't know face to face -- but either they have interesting feeds, or maybe I know *of* them (via mailing lists at work, for example). - Tudor Bosman
I find http://LinkRiver.com somewhat better for impersonal and content-only aggregation and following, but at FriendFeed i've found many who share my interests and perspectives. My friends use facebook more than any other network, and though they have not joined FriendFeed, the FriendFeed app pulls in my posts. I just wish i had more control over FriendFeed-facebook News entries. - John Lam
I think "follower" is a better term than "friend" in this context, since there's no implication of reciprocation. - Alex Mendes da Costa
Another nod for 'follower'. Although Followfeed don't have the same warm-fuzzy. - Ashton
yeah i'm with you Tudor, i would never expect anyone to "friend" me back and i hope that nobody would expect the same of me either. i like to review what a particular user seems to share on friendfeed, if i find them of genereal interest then they'll get added :) - Ian Rathbone
The thing I like the most about places like FF and Twitter is that you *are* a follower, not a "friend" (such as with Facebook and the like) - you don't need two-way confirmation. You can follow and unfollow whom you like whenever you like and there's nothing stopping two people not following each other from talking to each other. If that makes sense. (TL;DR: Voted for "follower".) - Cyvros/fyc
I'm sometimes embarrassed about re-adding people I've dropped, because I think they get another notification, which might clue them in that I dropped them, and then they might get miffed (though in reality I'm probably just tuhing the edge of my signal/noise envelope). - ⓞnor
What would be nice is an option to actually tune the signal/noise ratio. I suppose that's what FriendFeedMachine is doing, but I'd really like some sliders (I've got some weird obsession with sliders), kind of like what Facebook does with its newsfeed. We've got the option to hide services in FF, but nothing to just see less of them rather than shut them out completely. - Cyvros/fyc
No explanation, no problem, no question, only follow... - terababy

What AlertThingy needs is an option to have a textbox that is always open. Also a shorten URL feature would be nice using Tweetburner or another service. I wonder if it would be possible to do @ replys via twitter. Clickable hashtags? ...via AlertThingy - Rolf Schewe

This is how Starbucks needs to differentiate itself from McDonalds. Or do they shoot porn movies at Starbucks also? "Double Whips with Hot Baristas"? - Ontario Emperor
I love this line: "he chose McDonald’s as a filming location because they did not want to pay for the use of a hotel and did not expect to be discovered while filming". - Ginger Makela

first healthy choice meals and now this. McDonalds is really on a roll! - Elad
Actually, many of McDonald's US slogans of the last 30 years make for great porn intros: "Make every time a good time", "We love to see you smile", "McDonald's - It can happen", "Have you had your break today?", "Food, folks and fun!", "It's Mac Tonight", "Nobody makes your day like McDonald's can", "You, you're the one", and "We do it all for you". It would have been much more appropriate for them to have chosen In-N-Out as the location - Mark Krynsky
That was a standard catchphrase when I was in elementary school: "In-n-out, In-n-out! That's what [insert whatever here] is all about!" [whatever] usually had a juvenile sexual connotation. - Kevin Fox
Kev: You forgot "It's a good time, for the great taste." Man... terrible.... Only surprise is that this arrest was in Japan and not the SF Valley where we grew up (porn capital of the world). - Chris Reed
well, you could certainly offer starving-artist-Jess a commission - j1m
In college I ran a few eBay auctions offering my services as a commissioned artist. The highest bid I got was $75. This was for anime/manga style drawings only though, not photorealistic ones. Unfortunately people kept asking me to draw weird stuff that I didn't want to draw. - Jess Lee
