I've been doing many many video calls in the new Windows Live Messenger Beta with my dad and several friends and its been a awesome experience. Quality is amazing and so is performance. I find myself using video calling much more with the latest beta. - Brandon LeBlanc
I am so considering my next laptop be Lenovo. They are putting out some slick systems. - Brandon LeBlanc
Love this laptop. I played with it next to a MacBookPro and it blew away the Mac's screen. Also the color calibrator built in rocks and so does everything else except for the weight and size, but then this is meant as a desktop replacement, not really something you'd use on an airplane. - Robert Scoble
I ordered a Lenovo S10 IdeaPad back at the end of August and am still waiting for it to ship. Looks like a really slick little machine. I can't wait to get my hands on it. - Jeff P. Henderson
Oh man - you guys are totally making me want this even MORE. LOL - Brandon LeBlanc

we should work to save newspapers. they're historic brands with hundreds if not thousands of employees. Will blogs replace that? Not likely, at least for now. We should try to help preserve what's great about the newspaper media. - Patricia
Put economic crisis in the title = cheap way to attract attention. - Vincent van Wylick
We don't need to work to save anything. It's survival of the fittest. Newspapers don't need our charity. They need to adapt to a changing marketplace. - Jason Shultz
Changes in news media are being driven by rapidly accelerating technological change. The economic downturn will increase that acceleration. Another factor is customer preference: Most people prefer to fire up their laptops and read the online news services and/or blogs. Heritage news media such as old-style newspapers had better adapt real fast or they will go the way of the dinosaurs. - J. D. Ebberly
When people turn to the latest news on the economic crisis, they aren’t turning to the Wall Street Journal but to WSJ.com. I believe wsj.com increases its page views because of the bailout news. I don't think we can see any "Smart startups" in the short run that can compete with big media corporations especially during economic crisis. Economic crisis makes it very difficult for any startup to survive and compete. So my conclusion is economic crisis may actually delay the death of newspapers. - Kerem Ozkan
Kerem, I don't disagree that newspapers websites get a boost in a storm (and I mentioned this in the post), but it does still hasten the death of newspapers in print form, because print becomes even more irrelevant. My guess before is 5-10% of newspapers left within 10-20 years (maybe sooner), few to none left with a physical print newspaper. The smart ones will work out online, and that will be their core and only business - Duncan Riley
Newspapers in print will not necessarily die out, as long as there are places in the world which don't have good access to electricity. They, however, will be pushed to transform there news delivering act into a myriad of services (print, web, mobile) - tsiakhyie
I know I should be following all this economic fear stuff in the media but I'm not. This was the first post I read regarding the current state of the economy and how it relates to tech (and specifically Microsoft). I am glad I read this post. Good read. - Brandon LeBlanc

Microsoft has enough cash to weather almost any storm, I'd bet. - Craig Eddy
Now is the time that the shrewd investor is buying up great deals and in 3-5 years will be laughing at the panic sellers who made him wealthy beyond his wildest dreams. I just wish I was one of them. It sucks being poor. >.> - pitlord

Why would this software be needed when you can simply use Windows Vista, Windows Media Center and add a TV Tuner card and get TiVo like functionality that way? Works fine for me. - Brandon LeBlanc
There are a few guys that have a list like that and I am not on any of them... That is life I guess. ;) - Roger Kondrat
Some of the people on that list barely use FF. Don't sweat it. :) - Shawn Farner
I thought it was who was NOT cool and only talked about tech. Not that I don't like tech, just makes it a narrow FF experience. - Josh Haley
I'm not either, but then I didn't expect to be so not disappointed :-) - Sally Church
You Tweet too much and don't bring in enough original content. That's why I didn't put you on my list. - Robert Scoble
Keep in mind, I probably wouldn't make my list either. - Robert Scoble
Hey, I like Robert and all (and I think he deserves at least some of the blame for my popularity here by having subscribed to me in the first place) but I couldn't care one rat here or one rat there whether I made his list. I don't need no steenkin' leest! - Akiva Moskovitz
That's OK. My brother and sister are on the list and they rarely use FF - I'm the one on here daily :) - LPH
Unless you are benefiting financially from the exposure provided by being on Robert's list, I can't imagine why it would matter if you are on his list or not. Worrying whether you are on the 'popular' kid's list reminds me too much of Jr. High where being popular and accepted are the number one priority. I would guess that for many, participation in social networks, (and the feedback they receive) fulfills a similar part of the human psyche. - Jeff P. Henderson
Thanks Alex - glad I'm on someone's list! I'm not really that bothered by not being on his list. I would never be able to make a list like that because I follow so many people and everyone says something of value and its always changing sometimes daily... - Brandon LeBlanc
Hitesh: I disagree with that. But I would go and choose which one feels best in your hand. Also, which one has the best lenses FOR YOU and the kinds of things you like to shoot. I would go and try them both out, if you can. Some stores rent them both, or tag along with a photo club (on our photo walks lots of people have both). Also, look into the UI. Some people really hate the Nikon UI, others hate the Canon UI. Good luck! - Robert Scoble
I'm not sure the glass actually matters since the only glass I am using is sigma. I have a 30mm f1.4 and an 18-50 mm f2.8 and they make it for canon and nikon - Omar Shahine
I think the glass matters the most actually. Imo, Nikon is better in low light. I also like Nikon user exerience better - thoughtfully placed buttons, less reliance on menus and screens than Canon. I have a d700 and it's unbelievably fantastic. Get the best glass you can. - Mike Fullerton

I appreciate the feedback from folks. Omar so the glass you have works for both Nikon and Canon cameras? See whenever I talk with someone about cameras they always tell me one thing: glass is super important and ultimately ties you to a camera company (Nikon or Canon etc). - Brandon LeBlanc
Will be interesting to see ER kick off its final season. Based on what I've read so far - I'm none too happy with how the writers are launching the season. - Brandon LeBlanc
Foldershare, Digsby, RescueTime, Wakoopa are shown. I also have Witty, Last.fm, AVG, windowsClippings, and task shuffler running in the system tray but they're hidden. - Alan Le
So bad if you put it in a movie, it would stand as a fake, cheesy, low-budget commentary on cheesy TV shows. I'm so disappointed. - Sean Alexander
After a few days of thought, possibly the worst show ever filmed. - Sean Alexander
did you watch the 2 hour TV movie or the first episode of the new season? apparently a whole new team is in charge of the show - different from the folks who did the 2 hour movie - Brandon LeBlanc

Grabbing Pilot episode of new Knight Rider reimagining FREE on the Zune Marketplace until 9/22! Awesome! Hope its better than that 2 hour movie last year. - Brandon LeBlanc
you bought a Zune 120? I have a Zune 80 and bought a awesome Blue Zune 8. I haven't come close to filling my Zune 80 so I figured I didn't need a Zune 120 just yet. - Brandon LeBlanc

2 hours without IM is hardly a big deal - either send a email or call the person up. The Messenger service has been rock solid for a long time. Microsoft has been doing a excellent job keeping the service very stable. - Brandon LeBlanc
