Getting this right will be critical. And with the W3C already saying they don't want to continue pushing localStorage that means something needs to take it's place so that offline apps will work.

Obviously a GPL-leaning commenter as BSD folks don't worry about this kind of thing. As for a solution to their worry, more web apps help (as long as there is not a significant server portion to the app). Otherwise just the usual preference of techies choosing open source or getting the app stores to flag open source apps as a security thing or something (but that will never happen).

If those 5% - 7% numbers for IE6 are accurate, it would seem to suggest that for English-only sites it is not worth dealing with that horrible browser. Regardless, I am glad that I don't do any commercial work where I have to care. HTML5 or bust for me!

Rather unfortunate the ACM is not supporting the open releasing of government-funded papers in a central location. Unfortunately for me the ACM controls almost all major CS conferences so I can't even contemplate not submitting as a form of protest. But I definitely won't become a member when I graduate.
