I do love Scarlett, but I have to say that the last few times I've seen Anne on television (SNL, Letterman, etc.) I've been blown away by her beauty... and those long long legs!
- Mark "DerBingle" J
Scarlett. She's obviously outdoors in the sun, whereas Anne is inside, probably with air conditioning. She's much cooler.
- Mistletoe Glen
Anne's beauty is otherworldly. It's hard to believe she's real, actually.

@Glen, Hathaway won't look like a dried up prune when she gets older since she spends her time indoors. ;-)

Ouch, really tough one but I'll have to go with Hathaway too.

"This is the North and Clybourn Apple Stop. This is a Red Line train to Howard. Does that sound weird. Well, it is, but it could happen. According to AppleInsider and chicagobusiness.com, Apple has some pretty big -- and potentially expensive plans -- for the Red Line North and Clybourn stop. The report says that Apple will spend up to $4 million to renovate the station in the popular shopping district in Lincoln Park surrounding North, Clybourn and Halsted streets. And, Apple can, according to the report, name the stop."

This is a great post. I'm on the medication, but need to do all this, too. The problem is making myself want to do it, which, so far, ain't happening. Thank you for posting this.

What's funny is that I actually backed into this plan. I didn't set out to exercise and stop drinking at first. I just noticed that when I did yard work, I felt better. When I had a few G&Ts after several weeks of not drinking, I was seriously anxious and couldn't concentrate the next day. And then realized: "Well, hrm. That explained the previous month of high anxiety with that last project." Because there was an immediate effect, it was much easier to connect the dots between my behavior and my mood ...
- tiffany
So I will say to you Steve: try to get 15-30 minutes of exercise one day. Pick either something you enjoy, or something you don't enjoy, but that has to get done anyway (like yardwork or chopping firewood). See whether your mood improves. If it does, do it again the next day. And so on. The keys are (1) persistence and (2) being realistic / honest about what you expect from exercise.
- tiffany
I love that you are open enough to share this. Winning the battle so far with the help of a good therapist and taking it day by day. I hate exercise, but I can't deny how I feel afterwards. Handle your business, TB.
- Derrick
i am making myself sound like such a lush too. i should say that "drinking" is 1-2 drinks. usually one -- an amount considered healthy by some researchers.

I chose Windows 7 64-bit as Apple claims Snow Leopard is now a pure 64-bit OS with most of its built-in applications being constructed with 64-bit code. These two hard drives have virtually the same specs, supporting a SATA 3Gbps interface, having 8MB of cache memory, and spinning at 5,400rpm."

I'm told a California law was just passed requiring banks to respond within 3 weeks, but our offer went in just before that happened. Was just comparing notes with another friend and they said it's hard to find anything that isn't a short sale right now.
- Jason Wehmhoener
But the upside of this screwed up situation is that some really nice houses are getting much cheaper.
- Jason Wehmhoener
Yeah. My advice is that unless it's your dream house, I'd wait because we're going to have a lot more inventory on the market in the coming months as people get desperate. On the other hand, interest rates may go up.
- Cristo
There isn't much inventory in the neighborhood we want right now. If this one falls through I have a feeling we'll be waiting until spring. That would give us more time for some last minute repairs to this house before renting it, so that's not a terrible situation. We're just ready for a change of scenery.
- Jason Wehmhoener
I don't really get that. Not considering renting is like not considering buying. Just my $0.02.
- Anthony Citrano
Building equity has been a good strategy for us, even in this market.
- Jason Wehmhoener
We did try to sell in 2006, but we underestimated the degree to which we were enamored with living in the woods, and that others might not share the same exuberance for these climes. (we asked for too much)
- Jason Wehmhoener
One reason to buy instead of rent is that you like to renovate. We've been renovating for 3 years and want to keep doing it forever hopefully. There's nothing as fun as waking up early each morning to let contractors in and being there at the end of the day to write them a check. The drywall dust everywhere is so refreshing and stubbing your bare feet on the unfinished wood floors is a great pick-me-up in the morning.
- Cristo
@Jason: OK, but one is not building equity if one's investment drops in value. pretty speculative to assume that it will rise. @Cristo: most leases are easily modified to allow renovations; owners will often renovate for tenants.
- Anthony Citrano
No owner would allow us to pour the kind of money we are burying in our place. The floors in the kitchen are made of gold bullion.
- Cristo
Cristo, yeah, contractors beginning and ending the day, that really is the life. We've been at it for about 10 years now. Next house is going to be "finished" to begin with.

I am currently syncing my iphone with PC itunes... I now want to sync it with itunes on my mac... will i lose all the stuff on my iphone? is there a way of getting the backup from the pc and using it for restore on the mac?
iTunes on Windows will format the iPhone with a FAT file system. iTunes on the Mac will format the iPhone for OS X disk format. Not compatible. You can transfer the content from the iPhone to the PC but ... it will get wiped.

Khürt: that's odd cause I have an iPhone that's strictly used on a Mac. And the other day I connected it to a PC and it worked fine. For the data on your computer though you have to do something like what John Wang says.

you can also use the new Home Sharing feature in itunes 9 to transfer the Media between the mac and PC.

He could impersonate any voice, memorize phone numbers by the sound of the buttons and decipher the inner workings of a phone system by the frequencies and clicks on a call, which he refers to as "songs." The knowledge enabled him to hack into cellphones, order phone lines disconnected and even tap home phones. "Man, it felt pretty powerful for a little kid," he says. Elisha Strom, who appears unable to make the $750 bail, was arrested outside Charlottesville on July 16 when police raided her house, confiscating notebooks, computers and camera equipment. Although the Charlottesville police chief, Timothy J. She wasn't arrested for expressing a constitutionally-protected opinion, or for peacefully protesting real (or imagined) police abuses. No, she's in the graybar hotel for posting the name and address of a police officer, with a street-level photograph of his house. Turns out Virginia law makes a felony of 'identification with intent to harass'. I imagine this law was intended to prevent anti-abortion protesters from posting names & addresses of doctors, but it certainly seems applicable here.

As the Journal's Brody Mullins reported this month, House members last year spent some 3,000 days overseas on taxpayer-funded trips, up from about 550 in 1995. This month, 11 separate congressional delegations will visit Germany. They don't have to itemize expenses—a convenient arrangement since most costs are covered by the government or local hosts. Some trips subtract some hotel and meal costs from the per diems, others do not. "The policy is completely inconsistent," one House member told me. Everyone's whining about FaceFeed. But, the best time to sell a company is when you're the hot up-and-comer. Facebook made a smart (buzz & talent) buy, and FriendFeed probably made a smart business decision. But most people are not pissed that it was sold, but to whom. The crux of it is: most FFers don't like Facebook.
Let's clarify, a lot of FFers don't like FB for some *very specific* reasons: it's slow, it's clunky, the UI is horrible, the apps are nightmares to deal with, the privacy settings are a crock and more convoluted than my house's mortgages documents, plus the ever questionable use of your copyrighted materials in their ads. But other than all those things, FB is great =/

Charging more for the healthcare seems like a difficult idea to implement - how's insurance supposed to know if you smoke or not other than by self reporting? A better idea would simply be to tax the cigarettes, doughnuts, HFCS, and use the revenue to pay for the extra healthcare costs they incur, as well as subsidize school athletics, community sports programs, and building new bike lanes.
