eh be kardeşim bokunu çıkarttınız artık tri ci'miş - Şafak Otur
Tamamen kisisel gorusumdur. TDK v.s. ne der bilmiyorum. Birsey demiyor anlasilan? - bmert
Yani Blu-Ray'e Mavi Isin diyelim demiyorum. Gerci ne anlatiyorum ki... Si-di, pi-si v.b. ornekleri dusununce... - bmert
Ama Bluetooth'a Mavi diş demekle CD'ye Si-di demek farklı iki konu.
@Ahmet Selman +1 - ahmet bulent
tri ci merak anlamına geliyorsa o zaman Turkcell'in reklam sloganı harikulade! herkese değil anlayana bilene hitap etmiş demektir. - tunahan

- Gokcen Karan

Deleted my bookmark to FFHolic. The stats are so way behind real-time and inaccurate that they're just not that useful any more

Useful to inquiry some stats or show relationships, but not to discover content - Roberto from iPhone
they probably just crawl the database on a certain schedule. What is that schedule ffholic-ers? - Laura Norvig
Are we talking about the user stats, and especially subscriber and subscription counts? - Baris Seker
There are over 330k users to crawl and ff has API bandwidth restrictions, so we can't open up the flood gates all the way. We give precedence to higher ranked users, because their entries climb the charts much quicker. Currently, we're updating about 40k users in a day. On top of that, we're following 20k rooms, and the public feed. - Baris Seker

So when is FFholic going to integrate the new FriendFeed API? Because the current stats are pretty far behind most of the time

Hey, it seems FFholic stopped collecting data.
Why do you think so? - Baris Seker
For 3 days on a row I have the same amount of activity points, keep standing on 212 subscribers and I am the 394th most active user for 3 days already. No move there. - Ton Zijp from email
We're working on some improvements on the user data grabbing side. There is some fine tuning needs to be done. Last time we updated your record on July 3rd. I will watch your record and see where it is in the queue. Thanks - Baris Seker
Thx Baris. I'm glad that I was correct to notice it. :-) - Ton Zijp

Does anyone have a reliable number on FriendFeed users? Scoble?
They don't release numbers. You can look at Quantcast for visitor numbers. - Robert Scoble
2 - JCunwired
Eleventy-seven - Rah-PM 2012
thank you all. @Scoble, I'll look. - Valeria Maltoni
We (FFholic) count 222784 public and 28577 private users. These users are the ones who subscribed to at least one other user, or liked/commented/shared something. - Webrazzi
Arda, are you counting them since you started crawling FF or are they active over a specific time frame? - Yuval Atzmon
We crawl anyone with an entry, a subscription, a like or comment. So if a user did nothing on FriendFeed (and even noone subscribed to him/her) then we do not count him/her. Regarding to your question, we crawl -somehow- active users and it's not over a specific time. - Webrazzi
"222784 public and 28577 private users", wow amazingly small. - Meryn Stol
I did that kind of crawl last year (http://user21.com/2008...) and I see the public/private ratio has grown from 6:1 to about 8:1. - Yuval Atzmon
Also Arda, you may want to add a timeframe to the term "active". If someone commented a week ago he's active but what if his last known activity was 6 months ago? Should he be considered an active FF user? Probably not. - Yuval Atzmon
thank you for continuing the conversation. Love the Eleventy-seven a lot :) Good observation on official number vs. private users, Arda. - Valeria Maltoni
A while ago, we compared Scoble's subscribed user count and our estimated count on FFHolic . There was a gap between the two. The gap shrinks as you move on to less followed users. I am guessing there is a follower group out there who only subscribes but do not participate. We can compare Scoble's numbers to FFholic's again if he would post it. That might give an idea about the size of the gap. - Baris Seker
Baris, I suppose many people join FF, start following some suggested users but just keep lurking or simply stop visiting FF altogether. - Yuval Atzmon

Cultural question: it seems that even on a 3-lane highway (like the A11) the French stick to the right lane except for passing. True?
True. In Germany you can get a ticket for staying in the left lane. Passing on the right is illegal. - Nils Sandin
I wish people would learn to at least yield and pay attention to behind them. ++Mathew DeVries comments. - rob friedman
My experience driving in Europe is that Europeans are much better about yielding to faster traffic. Many Americans think they own the road. - Rod Bauer from twhirl
In the U.S. I'd settle for use of turn signals. TURN SIGNALS PEOPLE! It's that little stick on the left of the steering column. Definitely we should adopt Euro standards on this, as well. We could save tons of wasted money on stop signs if used Dutch right-of-way rules. If you even SEE someone on your right, YOU yield. In U.S. we are too lazy to pay attention, give us a kindergarten sign. - michael silverton
I think a lot of people are just ignorant of the laws. Every other car is driving with its parking lights on, ILLEGAL, flicking ashes out the window, ILLEGAL, passing on the right, ILLEGAL, failing to yield, ILLEGAL, not yielding to pedestrians, ILLEGAL. I could go on. - Rod Bauer from twhirl
Driving Annoyances always a great show-filler for that lamer no-show booking situation. :-) - michael silverton
I'm just pissed that Leo is driving in France and I'm not. C'est une putain Leo! - Rod Bauer from twhirl
Once you get in-town, you can choose whichever lane best suites your destination, though. Unless otherwise posted. - midnightgolfer
In Pennsylvania the left lanes are for passing only. California's driver's manual says: Drive in the lane with the smoothest flow of traffic. If you can choose among three lanes, pick the middle lane for the smoothest driving. To drive faster, pass, or turn left, use the left lane. When you choose to drive slowly or enter or turn off the road, use the right lane. If there are only two lanes in your direction, pick the right lane for the smoothest driving. - invariant
Here is British Columbia, Canada it is also true, keep right unless to pass or if you are letting someone merge on to the highway, really straight forward really - Bryce Campbell from twhirl
And I get to drive from San Francisco to San Diego tomorrow, bobbing and weaving in hopes of "smoothest driving." Well, I'm not much for bobbing and weaving, personally, but it explains why everyone else drives like maniacs and floods into my Safe Following Distance. What a retarded, utterly ambiguous rule. *sigh* - michael silverton
Yes, kinda shocked me when I moved out here and read the manual for the first time. But I'd have to say the most broken driving law (aside from speed limits) in California is this: if you're making a right turn from the rightmost lane, you must turn into the rightmost lane. This is unlike a left turn, where you can turn into any lane as long as it is safe. Nobody actually follows that one, and I bet 99% of drivers don't even know about it. - invariant
In the US some highways are designed with exits on the left side. In that case you have to be on the left lane to be able to take the exit. So leaving the left lane to speeders is not even possible. Also having different speeds of vehicles on the highway is more dangerous than having a steady flow of traffic. - Baris Seker
In Germany you definitely have different speeds, but the accident rate and death toll is at the lowest in years, less than 5000 traffic deaths in 2008 (on population of 80 mio). - Nils Sandin
FYI: It varies by state, but passing on the right in the US is only illegal if you use the shoulder to pass. So many people get this confused. - xero
getting a car license in Germany is closer to getting a pilot's license in the US, that's the main difference. A US driver's license means the driver got a random 20% of the laws correct when asked, most of which were related to identifying the meaning of a sign. - xero
Postlinearity, that figure is only helpful and relevant if you compare the number of miles/kilometers driven per person per year in the respective countries. Germany is a much MUCH smaller country than the US when it comes to landmass: we might have fewer drivers, but our drivers are likely going much longer distances over the course of a year. Accident statistics should take this into account and report 1 accident per every X miles driven. - FFing Enigma
Spent some time in Germany. In a way, I love how most drive in a structured and respectful manner. Then, after arriving home I'm immediately disappointed. - Shawn Poulson
In Germany you have to get like 20+ hours of private instruction to get your license. It costs a lot of money and the result is people know how to drive. I actually witnessed people parallel parking successfully! Amazing. - Todd Hoff

FFHolic: you're missing about 2,000 subscribers on your list at http://ffholic.com/Users... any way I can help you get them?
My understanding is FFHolic can't crawl the private lists, so inactive folks with private lists are missing, for example. (Also, it's about 300 high for me, FYI) - Louis Gray
Louis: I don't subscribe to many people with private lists. It's just about 2,000 people low for me (I currently have 22493 subscribers). Weird that it's inconsistent. I wonder if they could use my account to find people and be more accurate? - Robert Scoble
Funny little stat: Mona and Susan Beebe are only two other people on the top 100 most popular list who are also in the top 100 most active list. Wild. Seems that you don't need to participate here to be popular. - Robert Scoble
I haven't been to FFHolic in awhile but from what I recall, their "popular" metric is based solely on the number of people who follow you, so, no, you don't need to be active at all to be popular. - Laura Norvig
Popularity is not the point, in my assessment. We're evolving Augmented Cognition spaces. But may just be me. :-) http://friendfeed.com/rooms... - michael silverton
Robert, being hyperactive doesn't drive value in some cases. Mona and Susan and you are outstanding FriendFeeders. But note even with my overproduction here, I'm at the #184 slot for activity. Are there almost 200 people more active here than me? - Louis Gray
I am about #23 on activity and #96 for subscribers, but the FFholic numbers are off... they need to fix that... oh, and Thanks Louis! :) BTW my feed is private, probably should remove that for a while to see if the stats self-heal or not. On a secondary note, the FF internal pie chart stats are ALSO wrong; possibly due to "private feed" too?? not sure - Susan Beebe
I just removed the "private" lock on my FF feed. Looks like FFholic crawls my info on a weekly basis as I see they're info on my is about 1 week old. Let's see if that refresh rate and the quality of my data statistics improves - Susan Beebe
Louis: I actually got more followers on Twitter when I participated less. So, I think you're right. - Robert Scoble
My subscriber rate started to pick up when I stopped breaking 100 likes/comments in a week, but FFHolic is definitely being conservative (or out of date) with its statistics: it's under reporting me by about 60 or 70. - Mark Trapp
Robert, my guess is that you have more than average number of subscribers with no entries, comments or likes. It is quite possible that there are a lot of users who joined friendfeed, subscribed to you and did not take any other action. We can only find out about a user if they have an activity on friendfeed. Maybe you can give a sample list (a few hundred) of the users who subscribed to you and we can examine that list to see why we're missing so many users. Thanks - Baris Seker

I guess our most active users, most active rooms and most discussed entries algorithms are pretty good! What do you think?
Certainly seems to be! - Jaemi Kehoe
i'm not sure - on the 'active rooms' - the 3rd most active room is called "Science21" - yet the last bit of activity in there was on Monday! What's going on there FFholic? :) - Zee.
Your algorithms are pretty good, but they are only serving to fuel my addiction...please make it stop! - Scoble, Alex Scoble
where are you seeing the stats on the most active rooms? - R. Ferguson
Zee, looks like it's probably because there are some conversations on there with over 100 comments each. The algorithm blends number of users, and numbers of likes and comments as well as recency (that's not a word is it?) of posts. - Laura Norvig
Actually, maybe they don't even take into account how recent the posts are. Hard to tell. - Laura Norvig
Actually we look at the character count total of each post and find posts with more wordly comments. Only comments sent by someone other than the original poster are taken into account. - Baris Seker
Why are rooms missing from the most active room list? US Politics comes up as #6 in a search, but doesn't appear in the main list. - Steve Isaacs
You're probably looking at the English rooms list. That room doesn't have a language assigned to it yet and that's why it is only in the All languages room list http://www.ffholic.com/Rooms... and not in English rooms. I admit that it is an issue though and we will get on that. - Baris Seker

hey Laura - thank you :) I think you're right, will drop them an email - hopefully it can be changed. - Zee.
The room and user names get refreshed as soon as we can. It may take up to a few days depending on the popularitity of the room and user. - Baris Seker

I must admit that Robert Scoble gave us the idea of our new feature to filter the high quality discussions. Thank you Scoble!
It's a good thing that you credited the right Scoble. Thanks for that. :) Of course this brings up the questions, how will you figure out what discussions are high quality? - Scoble, Alex Scoble
Most discussed doesn't always equal highest quality. I'm confused what this is referring to. -
What is your criteria for a "high quality" discussion?! hmmm sounds interesting! - Susan Beebe
Sounds like a Robert request. ;-) - jeneane sessum
I don't see you guys responding. It's been over 10mins...LOL. What makes a high-quality discussion? - Rah-PM 2012
We believe high quality discussions doesn't have 1 word comments like "Wow", "LOL", "HaHa" and etc. Do you think it is true and do you have any suggestions to improve it? And actually do you find the current most discussed entries list useful and high quality? - FFholic.com
Request: RSS feeds for Most Discussed English Entries on FriendFeed and Most Liked English Entries on FriendFeed. - Sean McBride
The meaning of "Most Discussed" vs. "Most Commented" is hard to distinguish. I don't think "Most Discussed" is the right label. - Laura Norvig
FFholic: this entry (one of mine) occupied the number 1 slot on FFholic's Most Discussed English Entries earlier this evening: http://tinyurl.com/42dvdq Later in the evening it disappeared from the list. What happened? - Sean McBride
Sean: We already have feeds for them. Just click show all and click on the rss icon. http://www.ffholic.com/Rss... - FFholic.com
Most discussed entries have more wordy comments than average. We have a simple algorithm but I think it is pretty successful at picking out the hottest discussions. - Baris Seker
Great -- found the icon for the RSS feeds. This is a valuable service you folks have put together. You are doing much of the data mining I requested from Friendfeed a few months ago. - Sean McBride
Baris: how do you define "more wordy"? Total number of words in the discussion? Total length of the words in the discussion as measured by characters? Vocabulary level of words in the discussion? (I have a special interest in automated methods for measuring the cognitive complexity of texts.) Thanks. Again, love your work here. - Sean McBride
Do you guys track "most blocked"? Might be doing us all a service. - Oldengrey (Jay)
Jay -- an even more interesting metric to data mine -- social networks which engage in the most blocking. - Sean McBride
Good idea, Jay. - Yolanda
Baris -- regarding the RSS feed for Most Discussed English Entries: is there any chance you could include in the feed the text of the initial entries, with clickable links to the Friendfeed discussions? Currently the feed only provides clickable access to the links pointed to by the entries. - Sean McBride
Sean: Internally we were debating whether we should give the original link or the friendfeed link on the entries. I'll post a discussion and see what people think. Thanks - Baris Seker
Baris -- I for one would like to be able to see both the original and Friendfeed links for entries, as well as all the comments (as in the feed for Friendfeed Best of Day). What do you think? - Sean McBride
Baris: Might this be possible with FFholic? Rank Friendfeed users by number of links PLUS likes PLUS discussions PLUS subscriptions shared with me. (Shared discussions: users who have made comments under the same entries I have made comments.) - Sean McBride

We'll try to add a number of entries per page feature. Thanks - Baris Seker
Zee.
Something's not quite right with the most active rooms list...There's a room called Science21 which is apparently third most active yet nothing has been posted in it for a few days and the last comment was yesterday sometime...surely that's broken, no?
Rooms get their activity points assigned for the last 30 days. One room may not have any activity for the last week and may be on top of the list because it was very active the previous 3 weeks. We will take this as a suggestion and may be add a 24 hr/7 day option to the activity lists. Thanks - Baris Seker

How often does FFHolic get updated? Seems like my stats have stayed the same for a while even though I've been subscribing to people and commenting/liking at a fairly good rate.

To FriendFeed: Will you be creating SUP IDs for profile/comments/likes pages in the FF API?
Profile pages already support SUP. We may add it to other pages as well. - Paul Buchheit
I don't see a sup in this page: http://friendfeed.com/api... - Baris Seker
Sorry, I misunderstood what you meant by "profile" pages (I thought you meant full feed). Are you actively monitoring the profile urls, or are you just curious? - Paul Buchheit
I think they are going to add it at some other point. They had no mention of sup in their blog. - Colide81 (James)
We are monitoring profile feeds quite a lot. The sup_id would help reduce the bandwidth. Also a sup_id on the entry feed would be nice: http://friendfeed.com/api... - Baris Seker
Unfortunately I just learned about what sup_id is. When I was developing the system (ffholic) in mid-August, I saw the tag in the feed but I couldn't find anything about it. Maybe I should have looked more. - Baris Seker
Is this something that could be added quickly or do we need to wait for the new beta? - Baris Seker

It seems the quality level here has gone down as people try to move up the FFholic page. If this continues I will change who I subscribe to. I want to have items that make me smarter, not more entertained.
I think FriendFeed's complexion has dramatically changed, and not exactly for the better. - Ben Parr
Guess you will have to unsubscribe from me then :) - Scoble, Alex Scoble

It sounds a bit harsh, it does, but aye kin see if ye only use FF for smarts and whatnot - Rah-PM 2012
For once Robert, you and I are in complete agreement. I have yet to even look at FFHolic and I doubt that I ever will. - Aaron Krug
I feel sorry for anyone who can live without kittens. ;) Odd, how people tell me similar things when I say I'm Agnostic. - Scoble, Alex Scoble
Robert, I think now is a good time to start using the FF beta list feature. You can move the people that post mostly entertainment off your main feed and into a "fun" list. - Alan Le
Robert, I'm with Yolanda and find this a little harsh. Sorry that FF is not up to your liking (maybe its to others though??) but if you reading/receiving posts you don't like then it's completely up to you if you wish to hide/unsubscribe that post/person. And you can easily create your own friends list. A little confused, sorry. - Kol Tregaskes from twhirl
greybeard: anyone who links to the BBC doesn't have to worry. Subscribed! Yolanda: I +was+ lecturing! :-) Alex: if the shoe fits. I like noise, but there was an increase in the noise force and if that is the way it will be I will look toward people providing good stuff that makes me smarter. I don't watch Entertainment Tonight for a reason. - Robert Scoble
i looked at ffholic once, chuckled, moved on. ranking people is worthless imho. truly worthless. creates frustration, envy, and reinforces the worst attributes of people. - Jeremy Toeman
I second being sick of kitties in teapots, as well as all other trite imagery and obvious Photoshopping. I try to hide it as much as possible and I definitely don't add any more fluff like that. - Kamilah Reed (K. Gill)
Kol: it was harsh for a reason. Life is harsh. Ask an NYC trader. - Robert Scoble
I don't know that FFholic is really in the back of most folks' minds. What I do expect is that you are starting to see cliques evolve even more so, and that some cliques are ones you and I would rather not be in. That's a natural evolution. - Louis Gray
I think the problem has less to do with FFholic and more to do with the lame "talk like an idiot" day(s). - Nathaniel Payne
I like FF, I think it's a good mix of tech and fun...I think you just gotta pair down your follow list and you'll be fine...But with popularity comes the populous so short of setting up your own closed invite-only environment, there's not much you can do here but fish or cut bait... - Live4Emma (L4S)
Louis: understood. I will start using lists more like Alan suggests - Robert Scoble
Well, I think you pegged it a long time ago, Robert... You are defined by who you follow... so is your feed... if you don't like what its (or you) have become, time to make some changes. Fortunately FF makes it easy to do so. :) - Lindsay
Obviously I touched a nerve here. That is interesting too. - Robert Scoble
I actually don't believe in subscribing to 200+ people, although clearly that expands my reach and the positive affirmation I could get here. So, in being selective, I tend not to blame the community for content that doesn't interest me, but rather my own selections. How does that logic grab you? - Marko Bon from fftogo
Platy: that is why I say you are defined not by who follows you but who you follow. Obviously I am about to redefine myself. - Robert Scoble

Marko, completely agree, hence why I'm confused with Robert's comments. Just cut down on your friends or create a friends list with the people you want to read. And, as a bonus, click Hide. ;-) Robert, how do you read through FF? - Kol Tregaskes from twhirl
Do you only watch one type of TV show? One genre of movie? Talk about only one topic, ever? Most likely not. I like FF because it is so diverse and dynamic. And the perfect solution as you stated would be using the lists, if you feel certain people ONLY dish out one type of thing. Since most don't, you will probably miss out on a bunch of stuff, which may be your goal in the first place :) - Josh Haley
Josh, if Robert does, then he should subscribe to one type of FFer. :-) - Kol Tregaskes
I find myself atop the list; dunno why, don't care if I stay there. I comment and share as I will, as I am. That means humour, intelligent discussion, a simple agreement, disagreement, word of support, or a semi-rare rant. That means being myself and letting the subscriptions take care of themselves. I tend to subscribe to people who do so similarly. FFeed is what you make it. - Michael W. May
I can understand the logic, but I don't agree. The site is called "FriendFeed" not "LectureSmartFeed." While it's nice to have educating information on here, it's also nice to be entertained by interesting stories that I wouldn't have found otherwise. I see the site more as a pool of information both educational and entertaining. - James Ferguson
Haley. I like a little variety, even noise. But when I refresh and see nothing but I know something changed in the force. I refresh FF hundreds of times a day. - Robert Scoble
On the mark. Entertainment is good but being smarter / more in touch is best. - David Z
@theposterformerlyknownasAlexScoble, I love cats. I live with 2 of them. All the more reason I don't need a steady stream of pukey-cute kitties & doggies to look at. I seriously wish more folks had gotten a little more art education so they'd have a better idea which images are really worth bothering with... - Kamilah Reed (K. Gill)
Variety is the spice of life, Robert. No, wait FF is not life or is it? ;-) - Kol Tregaskes
Robert, have you tried friends lists? I would suggest this is the simple answer. - Kol Tregaskes
I agree: this is aggregation aggravation - Anna Camara
Honestly FFHolic is not getting that many visitors. So being on the list wouldn't impress a lot of people. Also, we didn't create the lists to make people compete with each other but to let people outside the blogging community to see what the buzz of the day is. - Baris Seker
The problem might get worse now that you mentioned FFholic, Robert. I bet there were still a few folks who hadn't heard of it yet. - Kamilah Reed (K. Gill)
You do need a bit of chill-out time from all this tech posts. Robert, are you just after tech-news? - Kol Tregaskes
Robert Scoble - Friendfeed software needs to be smart enough to automatically restructure and optimize to your interests in real time your social networks and personal information flow. Imagine when 10 billion people are using a program like Friendfeed. Only the most minute percentage of communications is going to be of interest to each of us. No one using Google Reader would complain about the availability of too many feeds -- you simply select to follow those feeds that are most interesting. - Sean McBride
Hey, if you don't know FFholic, you're not an early adopter. :) - Sean McBride
Kol: you can see what I like here: http://friendfeed.com/scoblei... -- yeah, tech heavy, but I go for anything that makes me a smarter person. Cat photos? Hardly ever. That's my brother's job and I just typically hide them unless they are only the best of the best. - Robert Scoble
I "like" what I want and don't expect others to feel the same way. I also hate seeing politics flooding my FF, but haven't griped about it (before now). And I've never heard of FFHolic. But that's the hit or miss of FF, I guess. Some really awesome random stuff that one would like can pop up, but also the not so really interesting bits too. - Arlan K.
I don't mean to offend...I respect you and everything you talk about/share with us...but can you take a quick look at this and maybe share your opinion? - David Cook
As much as I like the "you are who you follow" argument, to Robert's point, look at who are the most active people on FriendFeed. Look at what the most popular stories are. Regardless of who you follow, you're not going to avoid what everyone on FriendFeed is liking, commenting on, and posting. - Mark Trapp
Was that a threat, Robert? I think it is funny that there is so much bitching about FriendFeed being too much about social media and techies.. and now that people are beginning to use it for entertainment.. there's a problem :) That being said, you should begin using lists, or just unsubscribe from those whose content you don't like... but you'll probably have to turn off foaf as well, if you don't want any entertainment at all... or just go back to google reader! - Tim Hoeck
social media is always a game - Jeremiah Owyang
It's only a threat if people see some value in me following them. I doubt they do. Anyway, I am starting to use rooms. With 3,000 it's a bit tough to categorize everyone, but I'm working on it. - Robert Scoble
Mark, I have been using the lists to filter out people who give me stuff I don't care about, and I've turned of Friend-of-a-Friend. Even then, people who I want to follow because I like them and they are interesting are also interested in things that I don't care about. People have diverging tastes, and the really popular memes are almost universal: look how long it took for Bacon to die out. Unless you don't subscribe to anyone, the "rethink your subscriptions" cliché doesn't solve the problem. - Mark Trapp
This is the first time this post has actually made it to my FF page 1 today, which speaks to how busy FF is today. I've not yet read the comments above, however I will say that I think it's rather presumptuous to assume that people are trying to move up the FFholic page. Many of us were surprised at the results, and at least one person has decided to take a FF hiatus due to the results on that page.... - FFing Enigma
Hey, maybe Robert can call for a Serious-Chatter-Only Corporate Version complete with his special personal wish-list of features, and it can win TC next year. What a hoot! - abacab
... It's been said many *many* times over that the wider the audience on any social site gets, the broader the interests get. FF is no exception. Options are to either subscribe to a narrow interest niche or a broad variety of people. It's a personal preference, and if you're looking for nothing but intellectualism I would venture that you'll have to look harder and harder for it as more and more people join. - FFing Enigma
kol: actually, the time I spend here is life and if FF continues in the direction of a bored high school study hall, I'll spend a lot less of my life here than I do now. - Bill Sanders
Friendfeed: Serious Business. - David Young
Our new "most discussed entries" feature will probably help you to filter the quality ;) http://blog.ffholic.com/2008... - FFholic.com
امیرعباس
who is the developer of ffholic ? the languages filter doesn't work properly for persian and arabic
The language detection is provided by Google. I am guessing it is not working correctly all the time. Do you know what percentage of Arabic entries are actually Persian? - Baris Seker
i have checked it until the last page. all of them are Persian entries. there isn't any Arabic entries among them. Persian characters are similar to Arabic but our grammar are completely different and we have four more character , "گ" , "چ" , "پ" and "ژ" - امیرعباس
We will remove Arabic and replace it with Persian then. Thanks - Baris Seker
thank you - امیرعباس
and there is deference between Arabic "ي" and Persian "ی" - Pouya

I want an FFholic Greasemonkey script that tells me data on each user when I hover over their name and when I click on their ID. If you think this is good 'Like' it if you have a suggestion on what 'data' we should be able to see Comment. I would love to hear your thoughts.
Everything? The hover now already tells us # of comments and likes. Additions could be: # of posts, # of subscriptions, # of subscribers (would # of feeds be at all useful?). - Laura Norvig
You can see the feeds so I wouldn't think that is terribly important but the rest are all good points. I would like a 'velocity' number that varies depending on how active they are during a period of time. TC has tonnes of subs but never interacts, thats why I want a 'velocity' number. *Velocity is my term for it that I stole from Compete.com - Roger Kondrat
Could be some kind of algorithm that balances a combo of posts, comments and likes for the past week and turns that into a number on a scale of 1 to 10, or maybe just a scale of 1 to 5. - Laura Norvig
Not what we are discussing but an improvement or a start? - Roger Kondrat
Roger: I would like to say that we will try creating a Greasemonkey script that will do exactly what you're describing. - Baris Seker
Laura: Thank you for your suggestion. This is also in the list of things to do for what we called an active users list. - Baris Seker
You're welcome, Baris. I have to admit I haven't explored FFholic (or even installed greasemonkey, actually - I suppose that exposes me as pretty non-geeky!). - Laura Norvig
FFholic.com
Most popular users of FriendFeed - http://www.ffholic.com/Users...
Warning: Since FFholic is not associated with FriendFeed, the numbers are their best estimates. FFholic says "Has 947 estimated followers" when I have 805 followers (as of Wed 9/10/08 2:36 am EDT) - 18% error (142 followers too high). - Mitchell Tsai
Dear FFholic, Is it possible to share what algorithms you're using to estimate # of followers? Perhaps we could help you refine it; e.g. maybe 50-100 of us FriendFeeders could tell you our real numbers & you could compare with your estimates to refine the algorithm. - Mitchell Tsai
Mitchell: my numbers are off by more than 2,000. - Robert Scoble
I don't think subscriber numbers mean anything as far as who is popular given that users are given a fixed group to subscribe to when they sign up for FF. - Rah-PM 2012
for you robert that's a rounding error :) - Morgan
Rahsheen when I joined FF I was not on the recommended list. JFYI - Robert Scoble
Robert: 16,411 +/- 2,000+ is 12+% error. Same range as my 18% error. Can anyone else contribute what errors they see? For an estimate outside of FF, they may just be guessing (e.g. like doing "body-fat" measurements or website traffic estimates). - Mitchell Tsai
For Robert, private users are creating the problem here since their subscribed users cannot be seen. I am guessing because Robert is so popular he's got more private followers than average. For Mitchell, we're working on that problem. - Baris Seker
Baris: I also am following 30-50 (?) private feeds (maybe 2-5% ?). Not sure how many private followers I have... Two things I can think of to help. (1) You're overcounting public followers. Maybe you're counting people who've stopped following - 86 drops & 31 refollows - if you're snapshotting, that's not it (2) You formulas might over-estimate how many private followers I have. Perhaps private people actually don't follow too many other people (compared to active types) & that screws up the estimate. - Mitchell Tsai
