Liste düzgün sanıyorum, bir çok kişinin hangi dilde konuştuğunu algıyamıyor sistem. Ki bu da dediginiz gibi veri bozukluğu galiba. Örneğin sizin profilinize girdiğimde (http://ffholic.com/UserInf...) dili bilinmiyor yazıyor. Muhtemelen sıkıntı orada. Anlayabildiğim kadarı ile listede eskisi gibi Turkce ve Ingilizce yazanlarda yok, sadece Turkce....

Fikrin yanlışlığı ve sürdürülebilirliği yoktu. Örneğin Beylikdüzünde 100 tane berber varken bir tanesini görünce koca memlekette berber yok bir tane de ben açayım diyesim geliyordu. :) Haklarında hayırlısı neyse o olsun.

3G ifadesi Türkçe bir ifade değil. Editör parantez içerisinde bu ifadenin dilimizdeki okunuşunu yazmış. Yanlış olan bizim "3G"'ye "üç ge" dememiz. Herşey yazıldığı gibi okunmuyor. Örnek: Turkcell, Acer, Apple. Bu teknolojinin Türkçe karşılığı 3N - Üç ne - 3.Nesil - Üçüncü nesil :) Ekranda 3N - 3.Nesil yazsa daha hoş olurdu. Ayrıca hata olsa bile, editör hakkında hakarete varan kelimeleri kullanmanızı anlamak mümkün değil. Bazı insanlar, kendileri hiç hata yapmıyormuşcasına eleştirmiş.

Ama Bluetooth'a Mavi diş demekle CD'ye Si-di demek farklı iki konu. TDK, Bluetooth ifadesine karşılık bir kelime önerebilir. Ama CD ifadesine karşılık bir kısaltma bulmak durumunda değildir. Çünkü "CD" yabancı ifadenin kısa yazılışıdır. Aynı şekilde 3G ifadesi içinde TDK'nın yapabileceği bir şey yok. Generation kelimesine karşılık Nesil kelimesini kullanacaksak, kısaltmasını da 3G değil 3N yapmamız doğru olacaktır.

Olur mu bayanlar baylar! Tri ci nedir allah askina :) Bari uc ge yapalim sunu da kotunun iyisi olsun! Hem terimi degistirmemis oluruz hem de dilimize daha yatkin olur. Ben editor olsam parantez acmaz direkt 3G yazardim ve konusmalarda da 3 ge ifadesini kullanirdim. Gerekiyorsa roportaj yaptigim kisileri de bu sekilde telaffuz etmeleri konusunda uyarirdim. Parantez de olsun derseniz icine 3. nesil yazardim.

İlla ingilizce okuyacağım diyorsanız zaten doğrusu tri ci değil, ˈthrē ˈjē diye okunur. İngilizce bilenler dahil Türkler (Almanlar, Portekizliler, vs) de bunu böyle okuyamaz. Kastırmanın gereği yok, üç ge diye her vatandaş rahat okuyup söyleyebilir.

ayşe yonca baltaoğlu, 3G yazısının yanına parentez açıp (Tri Ci) yazılması, örnek verdiğin NTV'nin yaptığı yazım hatasıyla kıyaslanmamalı. NTV veya başka kanalda da 3G yazısının yanına parantez açılıp (Trı Ci) yazılsaydı aynı tepkiyi alırdı. Tepkinin sebebi; geniş bir izleyici kitlesine sahip bir kanalın, Türkiye'de kullanılmaya başlanan yeni bir teknolojinin adının, Türkçe söylenişinin desteklemesi beklentesidir diye düşünüyorum. :)

There are over 330k users to crawl and ff has API bandwidth restrictions, so we can't open up the flood gates all the way. We give precedence to higher ranked users, because their entries climb the charts much quicker. Currently, we're updating about 40k users in a day. On top of that, we're following 20k rooms, and the public feed.

We crawl anyone with an entry, a subscription, a like or comment. So if a user did nothing on FriendFeed (and even noone subscribed to him/her) then we do not count him/her. Regarding to your question, we crawl -somehow- active users and it's not over a specific time.

A while ago, we compared Scoble's subscribed user count and our estimated count on FFHolic . There was a gap between the two. The gap shrinks as you move on to less followed users. I am guessing there is a follower group out there who only subscribes but do not participate. We can compare Scoble's numbers to FFholic's again if he would post it. That might give an idea about the size of the gap.

True. In Germany you can get a ticket for staying in the left lane. Passing on the right is illegal.

In the U.S. I'd settle for use of turn signals. TURN SIGNALS PEOPLE! It's that little stick on the left of the steering column. Definitely we should adopt Euro standards on this, as well. We could save tons of wasted money on stop signs if used Dutch right-of-way rules. If you even SEE someone on your right, YOU yield. In U.S. we are too lazy to pay attention, give us a kindergarten sign.

In Pennsylvania the left lanes are for passing only. California's driver's manual says: Drive in the lane with the smoothest flow of traffic. If you can choose among three lanes, pick the middle lane for the smoothest driving. To drive faster, pass, or turn left, use the left lane. When you choose to drive slowly or enter or turn off the road, use the right lane. If there are only two lanes in your direction, pick the right lane for the smoothest driving.

Yes, kinda shocked me when I moved out here and read the manual for the first time. But I'd have to say the most broken driving law (aside from speed limits) in California is this: if you're making a right turn from the rightmost lane, you must turn into the rightmost lane. This is unlike a left turn, where you can turn into any lane as long as it is safe. Nobody actually follows that one, and I bet 99% of drivers don't even know about it.

In the US some highways are designed with exits on the left side. In that case you have to be on the left lane to be able to take the exit. So leaving the left lane to speeders is not even possible. Also having different speeds of vehicles on the highway is more dangerous than having a steady flow of traffic.

FYI: It varies by state, but passing on the right in the US is only illegal if you use the shoulder to pass. So many people get this confused.

getting a car license in Germany is closer to getting a pilot's license in the US, that's the main difference. A US driver's license means the driver got a random 20% of the laws correct when asked, most of which were related to identifying the meaning of a sign.

Postlinearity, that figure is only helpful and relevant if you compare the number of miles/kilometers driven per person per year in the respective countries. Germany is a much MUCH smaller country than the US when it comes to landmass: we might have fewer drivers, but our drivers are likely going much longer distances over the course of a year. Accident statistics should take this into account and report 1 accident per every X miles driven.

My understanding is FFHolic can't crawl the private lists, so inactive folks with private lists are missing, for example. (Also, it's about 300 high for me, FYI)

My subscriber rate started to pick up when I stopped breaking 100 likes/comments in a week, but FFHolic is definitely being conservative (or out of date) with its statistics: it's under reporting me by about 60 or 70.

Robert, my guess is that you have more than average number of subscribers with no entries, comments or likes. It is quite possible that there are a lot of users who joined friendfeed, subscribed to you and did not take any other action. We can only find out about a user if they have an activity on friendfeed. Maybe you can give a sample list (a few hundred) of the users who subscribed to you and we can examine that list to see why we're missing so many users. Thanks

Zee, looks like it's probably because there are some conversations on there with over 100 comments each. The algorithm blends number of users, and numbers of likes and comments as well as recency (that's not a word is it?) of posts.

Actually we look at the character count total of each post and find posts with more wordly comments. Only comments sent by someone other than the original poster are taken into account.

You're probably looking at the English rooms list. That room doesn't have a language assigned to it yet and that's why it is only in the All languages room list http://www.ffholic.com/Rooms... and not in English rooms. I admit that it is an issue though and we will get on that.

Something's not quite right with the most active rooms list...There's a room called Science21 which is apparently third most active yet nothing has been posted in it for a few days and the last comment was yesterday sometime...surely that's broken, no?

Rooms get their activity points assigned for the last 30 days. One room may not have any activity for the last week and may be on top of the list because it was very active the previous 3 weeks. We will take this as a suggestion and may be add a 24 hr/7 day option to the activity lists. Thanks

And the perfect solution as you stated would be using the lists, if you feel certain people ONLY dish out one type of thing. Robert Scoble - Friendfeed software needs to be smart enough to automatically restructure and optimize to your interests in real time your social networks and personal information flow. Imagine when 10 billion people are using a program like Friendfeed. Only the most minute percentage of communications is going to be of interest to each of us. Mark, I have been using the lists to filter out people who give me stuff I don't care about, and I've turned of Friend-of-a-Friend. Even then, people who I want to follow because I like them and they are interesting are also interested in things that I don't care about. People have diverging tastes, and the really popular memes are almost universal: look how long it took for Bacon to die out. Unless you don't subscribe to anyone, the "rethink your subscriptions" cliché doesn't solve the problem.

who is the developer of ffholic ? the languages filter doesn't work properly for persian and arabic

The language detection is provided by Google. I am guessing it is not working correctly all the time. Do you know what percentage of Arabic entries are actually Persian?

i have checked it until the last page. all of them are Persian entries. there isn't any Arabic entries among them. Persian characters are similar to Arabic but our grammar are completely different and we have four more character , "گ" , "چ" , "پ" and "ژ"
