Cool article, haven't gotten near enough such use out of the Zojirushi. This is the money quote, tho: "Japanese cooks, however, consider toasted rice overcooked and highly undesirable. The unwanted crust left stuck to the bottom of the rice cooker is called okoge — the same word used as slang for a single woman who spends a lot of time with gay men." - Brant
Ezra reads XKCD?! I thought I'd had man-crushes before, but this just went to a whole new level. I find myself looking for reasons to go to DC and stalk... - Brant
"My restaurants still won't kowtow to vegetarians."
David Chang is clearly a jackass and a hypocrite. - Jonas Madden-Connor
"Peak meat". That cracked me up: clever, illustrative turn of phrase. Chang deserves criticism for his derision of vegetarians and equating accomodation with kowtowing. On the other hand, good on him for acknowledging this "Let's finally embrace the truth that food is not something to be taken for granted. As a culture, we need to be more curious about where our food comes from. We need to buy from farmers who are trying to do things the right way. We need to think before we eat." - Brant

It's part of a pattern of the McCain campaign threatening to freeze out outlets for unfavorable coverage. One can only hope Ms. Brown will be rewarded for acting as an actual journalist and her example will spread. - Brant

Yeah, so he's probably a shitbag; I'm not defending him. I'm saying it will get disproportionately covered. The press *will* have a field day, and it'll be wall-to-wall, far more in-depth coverage than we get on issues that are much more meaningful to Americans. Beyond that, it's their private, personal business. Even if it weren't, I am unlikely to ever get the truth of the matter from mass media so I'm not going to judge. It's the Edwards' shit, not mine. - Brant
