"Sarah Palin's attacks on Barack Obama's patriotism provoked a spike in death threats against the future president, Secret Service agents revealed during the final weeks of the campaign.
The Republican vice presidential candidate attracted criticism for accusing Mr Obama of "palling around with terrorists", citing his association with the sixties radical William Ayers.
The attacks provoked a near lynch mob atmosphere at her rallies, with supporters yelling "terrorist" and "kill him" until the McCain campaign ordered her to tone down the rhetoric." - Sean McBride

It seems to me that crudely inciting violence against high-level American politicians is getting into the realm of terrorist activity. - Sean McBride
It seems to me the hyperbole is getting a little thick: 'lynch mob atmosphere'. Obama won...get over it now. - Peter Simard
It honestly struck me as a lynch mob atmosphere. And that extremism is still percolating out there in American society. We need to pay close attention to these dangerous trends, which I predict will increase in the coming months and years. - Sean McBride
When you prey on people's fears, especially in uncertain times, all in the name of the end justifying the means to gain a political advantage, you uncover and unleash the worst aspects of human behavior. Fear and hatred are two sides of the same coin and it is not so easy to put the genie back in the bottle once the provocative fires have been stoked. - TStowers
Considering all things said and done, especially prior to elections, by Sarah Palin, this one last thing must not come as surprise. - Hayk

“I'm really trying to get into FB because I visited my little (21) cousin and he was all into it. Why is it fun for everyone else but me? Besides the few from here who have connected with me there, everyone else is boring...”
Does anyone here actually have fun on FB? What do you do? How does it work for you? :) - ♫ Rahsheen™
me too. I signed up for Facebook about 6 months ago and "deleted" the account within 2 weeks. I didn't find anything appealing to me. I guess it's too mainstream for me. - imabonehead
I don;t use it but hubby does so we use it for putting pics etc for family there. I have a worldofhiglet account but only to keep tabs on ppl not on other apps. - WorldofHiglet
I don't get it either. It just seems like a PITA to share stuff there. Nothing like here. - Yolanda
I only really use it to play word games with friends back east. And I'm connected to friends that I don't really communicate with on a regular basis. So being able to see their statuses and photos is nice because I get a feel for what's going on in their lives. But FB hasn't sucked me in like FF has. - pea♥ fierce as a woozle
I like Facebook because I am able to keep tabs and contact people I would not normally be able to see in person often. - Andrew Trinh
I've had a FB account for a while but didn't really start using it until this past spring. It's fun to reconnect with old friends from college and high school even. That's what I use it for mainly. I like it way better than it's drunken uncle MySpace. I like the clean interface. - Daryl Burns
I'm just about 60. Have recently gotten into FB... Enjoy being able to recommend stuff to people who might like what I like... FF I use to stay in touch with the emerging technologies, for the most part. - Malcolm Gault-Williams
Those who don't like FB aren't into it. *lol* (j/k) I love FB, because I can keep in touch with high school friends and my cousin and her daughter are both on it. - Molly, the Merry Maker
I mostly use FB for work and a few RL friends. I won't add anyone I haven't spent some quality face-to-face time with. It's not fun, but it's been helpful for me in my blogging endeavours and on the work. - Anika Malone
I enjoy the photos, status info and networking with former co-workers, etc. Of course, I also manage multiple groups and organize meetups with FB, so this has become an essential piece of my social networking strategy - Susan Beebe (Santa Claus)
FB really isn't that great to me. Its really only there for me to connect with people that I know that I don't talk to anymore. - Mathew Ballard
I was one of FB's first members back when it was available to like 3 schools. I used it then to communicate with old school friends. I still use it today to do that. I don't live on Facebook and I don't even log on unless I have reason to (to message a friend, to answer a friend request, to view pictures). To each his own. There's no need to get "into" it like you say, though. Just use it like any communication tool, I suppose. - Tamar Weinberg
I don't quite get into Facebook either, all the apps I can almost find on Facebook, but they are all not so great when you use it on FB,I have to go to their homepage for each service. As a matter of fact,I discovered and joined FF when I was on FB,but I found it would be mush better to use FF on their own site, then I seldom come back to FB FriendFeed app. - Steve Chou
I love Facebook, I want to be with the cool kids and despise what it stands for but I can't - Joe Dawson (beta)
Many of my old school and real life friends from childhood are on there, as are my closest family, so have no choice if I want to stay in touch from 5000 miles away. We share pics and pithy comments, play scrabble occasionally and debate things in some private clubs. Thus I find time in my busy week for them because they are important to me, so I bend to their choice of communication platform or the relationships wither, despite not being a big fan of FB. - Sally Church
It's not the same when your real-world friends aren't using it. - Sarah Perez
I used it to keep in touch with my girlfriend, but now... - klecu
But you guys ARE my "real-world" friends :( - ♫ Rahsheen™
I hate FB and MySpace. You're not alone. - Jason Carreira
Rah, there are some killer features on Facebook that you would hardly find on other services especially if you are networking for professional usage. For example, Facebook "events", lets your friends share, announce and invite you to events you might be interested with (work related, seminars, etc etc...). I believe Facebook is a major and powerful tool for networking re work related but for hobbies as well (music, photography etc etc) - Ron Shoshani
I have tried to use Facebook as an artist, but I have to admit that, especially since the re-design, it's a lot more difficult than other sites. - ♫ Rahsheen™
The only reason I go to myspace is to play Mafia Wars. I was into facebook for a while, but it grew boring. I get sooooo tired of app invites and causes and crap. - Jason Shultz
So the consensus is that most of us don't like Facebook - Mike Reynolds
I'm actually surprised at this consensus. I thought people around hear were in love with FB. - ♫ Rahsheen™
Facebook for me is an excellent way of keeping in touch with people who have never heard of Twitter or FF, and would have no interest in either. Several folk I know arrange events on FB on a regular basis - indeed I've even done this once at the request of a friend, and it was a very successful evening. Oh, and the calendar/invite function is pretty good, though not wuite the best I've seen. - Baxter Tocher
