I think they should have bundled this with server purchases... offering it as an option so each server has direct backup to secure Datacenter hosted by HP. For small business, I think this would have worked wonders! Easy backup, no thought!

Mobilereads landed leaked images of Amazon's (AMZN) Kindle 2, coming out February 24. They say it'll cost $359. Amazon hasn't confirmed the images are real
- winckel
I really want one, but at $359 I can't justify it.
- ZenGiraffe
It looks an awful lot like the first Kindle, or a Photoshop.
- Tyson Key
the original Kindle looked very odd to my mind, if this is real it's a big step forward
- winckel
De-emphasizing the keyboard, giving you areas to actually hold it without accidentally pressing a button.. yeah, this is a much better design.

do newspapers give Kindle the edge over Google?
- winckel
@winckel: The sense I get is that most give Kindle the edge. But I think that's because many people don't quite grok what Google has been doing for nearly 5 years. They've scanned millions of out of print books. They have an agreement to sell them. They now have a mobile optimized delivery system. Google will have more titles available on more devices. Oh, and publishers really don't like Amazon.
- AJ Kohn
I love this competition. I will use Google's stuff, but Kindle is different. First, it has a screen that I can read on the beach. My laptop and iPhone do not. Second, I can buy the latest books. Let's be honest, I don't need hundreds of thousands of books. I just need to get the latest ones. Third, I want long battery life. When I take the day off and head to the beach I don't want my device to die in the middle of reading a book, like my iPhone or laptop would. That's why Kindle will win.
- Robert Scoble
Love it... I've been waiting for the new one to come out! Def getting one
- Dan Delphin
from twhirl
@Robert: I agree. The competition is good but I disagree on the winner. What makes you think Google and publishers won't agree to sell bestsellers? (Hint: Publishers really don't like Amazon.) The revenue share is also better with Google as far as I can tell. Battery life of all devices will improve so that's a short lived advantage. So readability is the only issue I think.

plus, the kindle only works in the US. no matter how much i wish it would come to Canada, i really can't see Amazon working with any of the Canadian carriers...they're just too far behind.
- Trent Olson
I wish there was one device to do it all. I want a small handheld that can surf the web, check email, store and display images and videos, play music, skype, ereader, etc. Several gadgets are close, but none quite there yet.
- jcunwired
@Trent: I hadn't thought of that but you're right. Amazon has the same problem in UK and EU.
- AJ Kohn
I think this post is very valid, except for the last line about "lucking" into being remarkable... I feel that luck has little to do with it. If you set a goal, try a strategy to acieve it, and then analyze the effectiveness the attempted strategy and make modifications to make it more effective, I believe you will eventually become remarkable... luck isn't needed... just analysis and persistance.

Though a little bit abstract in nature (much like the book The Secret", I do believe that thinking about what it is that you want on a daily basis and envisioning it allows your subconscience help you make decisions that get you there.
- Dan Delphin
Interesting idea but it seems kinda silly that anyone would pay for this. Yet, somehow, he's pulling in $6K/month. Unreal. I'm obviously trying too hard.
