Apparently, there were two different firmwares that got released with the iPhone 3G, it seems I got the "fixed" one. (5A347)

J Phil - some have reported that 347 fixes the extreme yellow tint. To tell you the truth, I didn't notice it that much on mine so that may be true.

My wife and I got the 'bad' one and had to restore our first-gen phones to the proper one.
