Funny. I wonder if Heath Ledger's transcendent performance is enough to make Dark Knight a better movie than Batman Begins. I think that, combined with the film's sheer ambition, put it over the top, but they're both pretty great adaptations. And although the Iron Man story (in the comics) has enough serious material to make a real, powerful movie, the actual movie is really quite lightweight. Fun, but I want more from these things. I had the same problem with Sherlock Holmes, a (less successful) fun, well-made adaptation that has all the substance of Tinkerbell's gossamer wings.

I haven't read past the first paragraph yet, but I assume it all comes down to "nobody knows much yet but if Apple releases this thing it will be a fully-realized game-changer". Which, duh.

I disagree with point 3-I think he only ever cares about his job insofar as it allows him to maintain his lifestyle. Furthermore, the groom's cold feet aren't out of nowhere-they're Bingham's fault--and Bingham's need to make it right emanates directly from his guilt over causing it. Natalie's breakup is suspiciously timed, I suppose, but we know nothing about that relationship (itself a fault with the movie, perhaps) so it's hard to say whether it was deus ex machina or not. Also, I agree with point 5 more or less.

iSlate is a stupid name. So is iGuide. So is Ebert's preference, iTab. However, Slate would be okay. Or the InfoSlab. Or maybe the ProfitMaker?

True story: Since he died I haven't been able to bring myself to read anything he wrote. I'm also getting really sick of the photograph of him in an old armchair next to a bare bulb lamp.

Interesting note: my flight this morning was cancelled and I spent an hour on hold with US Air last night trying to deal with it (I gave up on them answering around 1am). I ended up just booking with another airline to fly into, sigh, BWI. Meanwhile, Fletcher, Lauren, and Arlene were all trying delicious beers at ChurchKey. Life is so unfair! Anyway, I suspect the people who didn't find out about their cancelled flights until they got to the airport today will have a significantly more aggravating experience.

This is kinda amazing. I'm feeling like there's a non-zero chance that this is a Tiger Woods situation, although considering he was just in the hospital for the condition I suppose the cover story is the most likely.

When you put it this way, is it any wonder that I didn't find this movie to be that great? I will basically agree with the positive observations in this review, though. It's not a bad movie, and the set/costume design is pretty impressive.
