"Turbaconducken. That’s right — a chicken stuffed in duck stuffed in a turkey, all wrapped in bacon. Otherwise known as a bacon-wrapped turducken." D: - Jess Lee

The amazing part is that the chicken *and* the duck *and* the turkey are wrapped in separate layers of bacon. Also amazing is that an entire site is dedicated to "Daily Updates on the World of Sweet, Sweet Bacon" - Bill Strathearn
I have to say that is some seriously unattractive food, regardless of how good it might taste. I'd love to see a professional chef try to dress that thing up... - Kamilah Gill
"Haarde put the problem in perspective by referring to the $700bn financial rescue package in America: “The huge measures introduced by the US authorities to rescue their banking system represent just under 5 per cent of the US GDP. The total economic debt of the Icelandic banks, however, is many times the GDP of Iceland.”" - Simon

It's amazing to think that letting Lehman go under could cause a country to fail. - Private Sanjeev
I was exaggerating a bit. Iceland hasn't failed yet. The actual quote: "They would have survived in spite of their size, they argue, if Lehman Brothers and Washington Mutual had not collapsed, leaving their creditors empty-handed." - Private Sanjeev
""We're seeing that corn is the number-one reason that fast food is so cheap and available," said Meredith Niles, a food policy analyst at the Center for Food Safety who was not involved in the study. "U.S. programs are subsidizing obesity in this country."" - Roshan Vyas

"I realise with hindsight that it is possible you rejected the drawing of a spider due to this obvious limb ommission but did not point it out in an effort to avoid hurting my feelings. As such, I am sending you a revised drawing with the correct number of legs as full payment for any amount outstanding. I trust this will bring the matter to a conclusion." - Paul Buchheit
The important part: "It was silly of me to assume I could provide you with something of completely no value whatsoever, waste your time and then attach such a large amount to it." - Gabe
The clip is from Obama's talk at Google many months ago. I recognize it because I attended that talk. You can see the letters "gle" behind him. - Jess Lee
A Web-only release makes sense. This tech stuff would just intimidate couch potatoes, and most of the science nerds are at their computers anyway. - Mike Abundo
some good minds in that campaign, hopefully they will be in the administration .. and biden needs some training in wider thinking, so hope a couple are assigned to him - Gregory Lent
For tech i thought his campaign was a good testimony of how much appreciation and importance he accords to tech and all things IT. His weak point is business and i didnt see him recently talking about it. Does anyone see him recently commenting on business-related issues? - Hayk
i think he has well-developed ideas about business .. and they are not the kind of thing an american public can easily grasp, so he is keeping a bit quiet .. - Gregory Lent

In a move that seemed like it would never, ever, ever happen, Netflix has finally managed to bring its streaming video technology (and decent library) to Macs everywhere, thanks to Microsoft's Flash-esque also-ran, Silverlight. - Thomas Hawk

Hot Donkey, watch now finally on the Mac! - Thomas Hawk
Except when you go to Netflix and select to "play" something, you'll still get "Our apologies — instant watching is currently not supported for Macintosh." It would have been nice to announce it when it's actually available. - ·[▪_▪]·
hmmm... at least it's coming. Does anyone know when we can actually get it? - Thomas Hawk
"The deployment, which will initially touch a small percentage of new Netflix subscribers, is the first step in an anticipated roll-out of the new platform to all Netflix subscribers by the end of the year." - Thomas Hawk
Thanks for posting that Thomas. I was too lazy to read beyond the "not supported" :D - ·[▪_▪]·
Its ironic that this is all thanks to microsoft. - Roberto Bonini
I got all excited until I found out it isn't available for all users yet. - Nick Humphries
Mac users... look no further than Apple for why Netflix can't send movies to you. Look at Dave Winer's link and read the NEXT line which clearly says that Apple does not license their DRM technology to third-parties. WTF is that? So, essentially Apple is saying that they want it all. I wonder if Microsoft can somehow get some kind of DRM code working on OS/X. Time will tell... - Jim McCusker
How does Apple's closed DRM preclude a third-party from implementing their own DRM? - Kevin Fox
It appears that Silverlight's built-in DRM on the Mac has not been approved by the studios yet. I'm not quite sure why Netflix is tying OS/X's DRM to the issue, but perhaps that's because studio's have approved OS/X's DRM. It's still strange why Apple doesn't license 3rd parties to use their DRM solution. - Jim McCusker
"I think of being on an airplane. The flight attendant comes down the aisle with her food cart and, eventually, parks it beside my seat. “Can I interest you in the chicken?” she asks. “Or would you prefer the platter of shit with bits of broken glass in it?”
To be undecided in this election is to pause for a moment and then ask how the chicken is cooked." - Kevin Fox

"I wonder if, in the end, the undecideds aren’t the biggest pessimists of all. Here they could order the airline chicken, but, then again, hmm. “Isn’t that adding an extra step?” they ask themselves. “If it’s all going to be chewed up and swallowed, why not cut to the chase, and go with the platter of shit?”
Ah, though, that’s where the broken glass comes in." - Tudor Bosman
it must be nice to be so right all the time... - Jonathan Keller
... and before you disagree with it, take note of the fact that neither of the candidates' names is mentioned in the article. - Tudor Bosman
Though he admits that he voted for Nixon and shouldn't have. :-) - Kevin Fox
Jonathan, you find the article to be an example of someone who's sure he's right? About what? I can't detect that Sedaris is making any assertion at all, from belief. - j1m
"Google’s growth rate continued to slow in the third quarter, but the company appeared to weather the economic downturn better than analysts expected as it reported a 26 percent jump in net income to $1.35 billion, or $4.24 a share, from $1.07 billion in the third quarter of 2007." - Bret Taylor

fake, but really quite funny - I am curious to see how the endless cheerleaders of the free market economy will spin this meltdown - Nadine Schaeffer
Perhaps you can read the recent blog post of Prof. Gary Becker: http://www.becker-posner-blog...., it doesn't seem to me what is melting down is a free market economy, given the fact that majority of consumers in the market made their financial decision without fully understanding nor being well informed what it was. Or, in other words, fundamentally it is not free market mechanism that has caused the current problem. - Sophie Yip

Now we know what the stock market does when they didn't pass it. Probably they will pass a similar bill later this week or next, and we'll find out how the stock market reacts to that. I figured the market would go down either way. - Chris White
