Brilliant! I mean, there is no place for failure or self-deprecation in academia ;-)

"Only particularly vicious, demeaning, or dismissive reviews will be accepted. This Wall of Shame & Schadenfreude would show that even the most respected researchers among us can and do fail." Worst nonsequitur ever. Vicious etc reviews are written by assholes who need to prop up their own fragile egos and have nothing whatsoever to do with failure on the author's part -- even when the substantive part of the criticism is accurate.

[If this were actually about helping junior colleagues come to grips with publishing,]^H Imo, better to show the range of reviews one is likely to get. Ime, vicious etc reviews are rare; vacuous, content-light and stupid reviews are the most common; and thoughtful, helpful reviews fall somewhere in between. [edited in light of Mat's comment below; no call for me to assume and then impugn the author's motives!]

Alex's motivation is certainly to help junior colleagues with that occasional vicious review. The number of these reviews can depend on the discipline. Chemistry has rather a reputation on that score - maybe psych does too. I received an absurd review but last month.
