Ime, vicious etc reviews are rare; vacuous, content-light and stupid reviews are the most common; and thoughtful, helpful reviews fall somewhere in between. Alex's motivation is certainly to help junior colleagues with that occasional vicious review. The number of these reviews can depend on the discipline. Chemistry has rather a reputation on that score - maybe psych does too. I received an absurd review but last month. - Matthew Todd
