So I heard interesting thing today: UK uni libs pay around double what the French do for same subscription package. Can anyone confirm? #rwa
No idea, but try to grab somebody from UKSG? (Part of the weirdness around this is currency issues and VAT and stuff. When I went to UKSG the complexity of it all exploded my brain.) - RepoRat
Reminds me of something I've wanted to see for a long time: an online list of who pays what. It would have to be anonymous because Big Pub likes to lock up that info in NDAs and so on.... if enough libraries "leaked" info to the list, what could they do? Shut down access? That would probably only hasten their own demise. - Bill Hooker
Talk to Ted Bergstrom at Stanford. He's been compiling data for a good while now. - RepoRat
^^^^ This, what she said. - Heather Piwowar
I wonder when/whether Ted will have something publicly available. Bill: Those NDAs are wholly illegal and ineffectual for public institutions in quite a few states, including California and (I believe) Massachusetts. That's one reason the Google Books agreements became public knowledge. - Walt Crawford
I know that some people use FOIA to get some state contract info. Not sure who, though. - Joe Boone
