OMG! This changes EVERYTHING! - or - Yet Another Wave of Adulation - http://blog.openwetware.org/science...
For science communication I think it really does change things - at least for the innovators and early adopters of open science. - Andrew Lang
ermmm I can't actually get to the blog to reply to Bob's comment there...anyone else having trouble reaching it? - Cameron Neylon
no trouble reaching it here. - Graham Steel
I can get there! if you still can't, I've blogged it here: http://blogs.helsinki.fi/egru-bl... so you could leave a comment. - Bob O'Hara
Or comment on FF, of course! - Bob O'Hara
no - just a momentary blip there - replied at the blog - Cameron Neylon
I really need to watch this video still, maybe this afternoon :) - Brian Krueger - LabSpaces
I feel a blog post percolating as well - especially with the background of the blog3 grant. Google Wave definitely has potential! - Björn Brembs
Thanks Cameron for prompting Peter Suber to post "Google Wave and open science":- http://www.earlham.edu/~peters... - Graham Steel
My dns and lack of time issues need to get sorted out soon. Need to start blogging again - Deepak Singh
Finally watched the whole video. Some pretty cool stuff in there, although real-time editing with more than two people looks really cool, but probably isn't very practical. - Brian Krueger - LabSpaces
If it were any other company I'd be sneering about vapourware, but Google has a pretty strong track record. Is there a firm date for release, and/or some way to sign up for early test accounts? - Bill Hooker
To me, this also sounds like a potential shortcut to part of what was planned in the blog3 grant proposal. - Daniel Mietchen
The only thing I worry about on this is scalability. Is this service going to require dedicated hardware, and what does it look like when 10+ people are all reading/editing the wave. I'm excited about the possibilities and would love to take a look on the inside. - Brian Krueger - LabSpaces
I finally watched the video...still putting my thoughts together...wish I could try it out! I'm thinking it must be as revolutionary as you all are saying, because it just seems to make a ton of sense to me. So much so that I'm confused :) - Steve Koch
The only way to really tell how useful this will be is to dig in and start playing with it - hopefully that will be soon - Jean-Claude Bradley
@Bill I don't think there is a firm release date. There are links to the Wave sandbox etc. here:- http://code.google.com/apis... - Graham Steel
No release date as yet and you can only apply for a developer preview. They ask questions about what you want to build so I think they are intending to both stress test the APIs and also see what people come up with. Exploring a number of routes to ask for test accounts but I suspect half the rest of the world is asking as well at the moment. Things may calm down a bit next week I guess. - Cameron Neylon
