I like hard (not frozen) butter when I make cookies; it helps me get the right shape - RAPatton
Do you hand mix? Or do you use a mixer? I try to use hard butter when baking, but I always feel like I have carpal tunnel afterwards. Softened butter is a must for a good grilled cheese, though. - Mark Trapp
but i thought in general all normally cold ingredients for baking--eggs, butter, margarine--should be at room temperature. - edythe
Edythe, depends a bit on what you're baking and combining. If you're going for a flaky pie crust with butter, try to use REALLY cold butter and don't overwork it into the flour (as it melts during baking, will release steam into tiny pockets ==> great, light crust). - Casey

u no how to make urself popular by writing stuff about people u don't like. Sad innit. - Andy Roberts
Andy, sorry - I'm just frustrated by spam bloggers, is that so wrong? i don't think there's anything inherently wrong with affiliate marketers, it just pisses me off when people pollute the internet with dummy content that gums up my systems. is that so wrong? - Marshall Kirkpatrick
and besides, dude, I know how to make myself popular by writing about how other people can work more effectively online and about the exciting things people do online - until some spam blog jackass messes it all up. what's your problem? you seem like you've got an at least semi-legitimate way to make a living and as a wiki consultant I'd think you'd dislike spammers as much as me. maybe working for a pharmaceutical company you still consider spammers kindred spirits in a way, I dunno. - Marshall Kirkpatrick

sorry to flip out but I hardly ever complain about anyone individually and for somebody like you to jump in here and say "don't be mean to the spammer, you have a rotten soul!" pisses me off almost as much as the spam blog did. :) have a good day though dude, no hard feelings, especially if it was just a misunderstanding. could have been. - Marshall Kirkpatrick
