Merry Christmas to the FriendFeed team. You guys rock! FriendFeed reacts quickly and you're adding wonderful features all the time (Thanks soooo much for the "edit" feature.)

Happy Holidays FF crue -- you've made this an excellent and memorable year for many of us. Facebook couldn't have done it without you! :)
- Christopher Galtenberg
w00t you gave me the best online year in 15 years!!! ;p Thanks a lot, everyone, for what you've done here XD
- ElijahBailey-Zu of FF <0,
Sigh. Sometimes it is the little touches, like seasonal logos or easter eggs, that mark a site as a living project, and that you really miss when the developers have all moved on to something else.
- Michael R. Bernstein
I swayed on this, particularly in the last few weeks, Florence and the Machine - Lungs was the top record for me until recently. Bat for Lashes - Two Suns and Yeah Yeah Yeahs - It's Blitz! were exceptional records too but for me it's got to be The XX - The XX. I love every song on the album, brilliant!
- Kol Tregaskes
XX is definitely in my top 5... good call (saw them a week ago, sounded great live too!)... and while I'm not actually sure on the order... for me Neon Indian, Grizzly Bear, Girls (and lately) Atlas Sound would also be up there...
- Jeffrey Marsh
I just picked up The XX after hearing 'VCR' on the radio. What a great album!
- Kyle Hebert
I just found out about The XX a couple weeks ago! I like them. As for my album of the year that would have to be Crash Love by AFI.

Fuckity-fuck-fuck!! Can't things ever be easy for us or our family? You know, just catch a break or two? Not have to deal with some sort of financial or personal crisis?! Arrgghh...

I just found a drunken webcam video I shot of myself and a friend on vacation back in February specifically for the purpose of sharing with FriendFeed. Debating on whether or not I should actually upload the damn thing.
@Brian: My mom would be proud, my future mate would have a sense of humor, and my employer watches South Park. So I'm safe. Not to mention that it's not *that* kind of drunken webcam video. Gimme some credit. :P
- tinypants - Hagitha of FF
LOL Actually I tried figuring out how to get it up to YouTube last night but there's something sketchy about the file size and format. I'm not adept with webcam video in the least bit. I think that's why I didn't upload it back in February... :-/
- tinypants - Hagitha of FF
DO IT!!!! DO IT!!! You probably just need a simple format coder/converter (this one's floss http://www.mediacoderhq.com/) & If your fam has problem with drinking, just say you were stoned outta your mind ~ they'll understand.
- sofarsoShawn
If you don't post it I'm filing for a divorce. Unless I'm the drunken friend in which case you should send it to me directly.
- Sparky
We haven't gotten drunk together yet, Sparky. YOU OWE ME. I'll be up there in February. :D Flying in the afternoon of the 18th and home the afternoon of the 21st. MARK YOUR CALENDAR, LITTLE MAN.
- tinypants - Hagitha of FF
This is weaksauce, btw. I think y'all are expecting the video to be wayyyyyy more scintillating than it actually is. LOL There's also a video of me blowing bubbles with my gum, but I'm sober and in my pajamas in that one. That will stay safely on my PC.

"Ok, “Nativity Bassets” you say - what would God think! I think he would be pleased to see both your love of Bassets and the Nativity being honored all in one scene. This unique trio will grace your lawn during this holiday and for years to come. Sizes are: Josef is 25.5” high x 16.5” wide, Mary is 21.5” high x 17” wide and baby Jesus is 9” high x 15” wide. I love V for Vendetta. I don't understand why people disliked it so much. It's really an excellent movie, both on the surface and for the social commentary.
- Jason Huebel
Yeah I'm not sure why people would hate it, I thought it was pretty awesome.

I know Aden. I think they need to buy their own pants and leave Josh's alone. No wonder he's pantsless so much much of the time.

Well hold on, now I don't have much of a problem with pantlessness :)

Wireless or a combo pkg is not required, but a nice convenience. Just looking for suggestions for both, keyboard & mouse.

Then for keyboard... I strongly recommend the Kinesis... I go with a cheapy dell optical laser mouse... so no bells an whistles there.

Do guys ever like "regular" girls? Or do they always have to be tarted and slutted out to hell? I like looking at nice guys, but they can be in sweater vests and bowties, not waxed, shiny, and in speedos.
I do. Maybe I'm jaded from growing up in SoCal. I've always been around those "Hawt Chicks" who, well, *yawn* THEY ALL LOOK THE SAME TO ME. Give me character or unconventional beauty any day!
- Anna Haro
i was attracted to (and still am attracted to) a "normal" girl. she dresses like a guy most of the time (occasionally will wear a 3/4 length skirt or dress) and i think i've seen my wife in full makeup TWICE in 13+ years since we first met. sometimes she wears lipstick if there's a party, otherwise the overwhelming majority of the time she's got nothing on her face. i don't think she's...
- Joe Silence is not Santa
i have always found 'regular' girls in 'everyday attire to be attractive. Anyway, the looks don't necessarily match personality or sexual prowess
- Ian May
I like regular girls. I may lust after the hotties, but give me a nerdy girl any day. I married a nerd. (Don't tell her I admitted it, but her IQ is slightly higher than mine. Mine is 164.)
- Jason Huebel
@Jason: the nerdy girls ARE the hotties! (i married a mathematician.)
- Joe Silence is not Santa
I find emotional warmth attractive, above all. I have to admit, I like a gal who is down-to-earth but, when necessary, can really turn herself out (I have a glam side, too).
- T. Brent, technopeasant
hoho, I like how Anna blames it on SoCal. =)
- Andrew C
That's my experience, Andrew. :-) I grew up in an area where all the girls wanted/tried to look like Pamela Anderson. NO THANKS.
- Anna Haro
I married a librarian, endogamy FTW! Sneak-up hot is so much more fun than self-regarding know-i'm-hot.
- Pete
FWIW, I know a lot of librarians that are tarted and slutted all to hell. (Not that there's anything wrong with that.) Just sayin' that "librarian" does not necessary equal "regular girl."
- Sarah G.
Indeed not, Sarah, though in my experience the two sets are pretty close. Then again, I haven't been to an AALL conference...
- Pete
And this ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, is why I love Derrick so.
- MASTER OF THE OBVIOUS
I'd much rather a woman think like a porn star than look like a porn star. I'd much rather see the attractive "regular" women I see naked, but most of them won't let me see them naked, so I make due with the women who will. If that makes sense.
- josh neff, geek at large
I like 'normal' women, but my definition of 'normal' is other peoples' 'weird', or maybe just 'different'. And DERRICK! Don't say you don't like the tarts, I can't count how many times I've seen some oiled-up superhunk* scroll down c/o your feed. You know I aint lyin! *Other then Derricks self portraits.
- Will Higgins™
I'm a jeans, t-shirt, no make-up & ponytail kinda girl, and I'm married, so that means at least one guy does ;o)
- Mellissa Claus
I wouldn't use "regular" to describe myself, but I definitely don't tart or slut more than 1x per 5 years. There are guys who are into that, but in my experience it's a minority of guys. That works, really, because it seems like the majority of women wear makeup, etc.
- Lo
I think most men have a knee-jerk (and I'm using the word "knee" here *very* loosely) response to "tarted up" women, where we are reacting to the symbols and signifiers of "sexy." rather than to the person herself (hence "sex object" and all that). When it comes to "regular" girls, tastes diverge a bit, but I think all but the most deluded and juvenile men also find a certain large segment of the "regular" female population attractive, too.
- s t e v e
Also, Derrick, lemme remind you of some of your previous posts here: the women on FF who get comments on their photos ranging from appreciative to Neanderthal are almost never looking phony, dressed to kill, etc. They are just looking pretty or confident or vulnerable or kind or some other "normal" thing that men respond to (appropriately or not).
- s t e v e
Great Feed. I think regular girls are the best..
- ★ Soner Gönül
Also, D., I too would rather appreciate Josh in his vest and bow tie than oiled up in a Speedo.
- s t e v e
Steve, I think that's a universal feeling. Nobody wants to see me in a Speedo, oiled or otherwise.
- josh neff, geek at large
Hmm. 'Librarians of South Beach; sign, signifier, signiFIED! A post-structural dis-course on sexuality and attraction'
- Pete
Josh, you in a speedo would not be as scary and some speedos I've seen.
- DJF
I love Tina Fey, but when she plays me in the movie of my life, I am going to tell her to gain 30 lbs.
- laura x
The best looking girls wake up looking that way.
- Brad Greer
laura: In Tina Fey's defense, it's possible that she doesn't really have a choice. My wife (yes, a librarian; yes, smarter than I am; yes, doesn't own high heels) is 5'10" or 5'11" and weighs 115lb--because that's how her metabolism works. [Addendum: I don't follow celebrity news much OR read the NYTimes, so didn't realize that Fey admitted losing 30lbs deliberately--see laura x below.]
- Walt Crawford
What Brad said! Some of the best looking women I have seen have little to no make-up or other enhancements. Keep it simple stupid... ;)
- JA Castillo
A woman who looks like a stripper is probably going to catch my eye, but that's about it and only temporary. We had a party once where we had strippers. I got to film them "backstage" and just kinda hang out with a bunch of naked women. It was pretty awesome, but as we got to talking, I started to forget to stare at their junk.
- Rahsheen ™, Coach Rah
I personally prefer regular girls. Yeah sure a lot of slutty girls look good, but at the end of the day I find myself looking more at a regular girl with some nice curves.
- Mathew™ one of a kind
I don't know any regular girls. All the women I know are amazing in a lot of different ways.
- DJF
i thought you guys all liked regular girls who "tarted up" for you at home? or if you know that librarian is "tarted up" underneath...?
- Lisa
Oooo, a tarted up librarian? I'm all for that!
- Jason Huebel
I don't know if I like this anti-tarty vein. And whoever was commenting on women's photos on FF and the response they got, um, you're wrong. The "myspace photo" is alive and well on FF. You got it with "vulnerable" doe eyes through teh eyebrows cleavage shots. lol. Do you think the anti-tart sentiment isn't about high maintenance women, but more about a fear of women's sexuality?
- anna sauce
To clarify- men feel safe when women hide their sexiness underneath a cardigan and horned-rim glasses?
- anna sauce
I really doubt it, anna. Men feel safe when women hide their intelligence behind pancake makeup and fuck me pumps is more like it.
- Spidra Webster
Other men, maybe. Smart, strong women are a serious turn-on for me. I like a woman who can stand her ground.
- Jason Huebel
Of course there are exceptions. And probably more here on FF than other places. But as a generalization? yeah.
- Spidra Webster
I wonder if you take a hot woman, who is a librarian, and shows off her curves. Would you guys not be interested because... she has a healthy sense of her own worth? LOL.
- anna sauce
I don't like it when women hide their sexiness or their intelligence. Wearing it on the outside, whether you're in a short skirt & fishnets or a baggy T-shirt & jeans. is really, really, really attractive.
- josh neff, geek at large
I mean, some people are just hot, and not slutty per se, but defnitely have a rack, etc. Like Selma Hayek. Would anyone tell her to take out her contacts and put on a cardigan, so they can marry her... lol. We're putting too much stock in looks.
- anna sauce
It's interesting how many people (mostly guys) say here (and in other similar threads) that they're into women who are smart, practical, and "normal", and not so into the major makeup, flirty, "tarted up" type. However, when a picture is posted here that is like there, there is no shortage of drooling in the comments.
- Rochelle
What's the adage... you f** your mistress, you marry your wife?
- anna sauce
Few things turn me on more than witty repartee, like I'm in a 30s screwball comedy or something.
- T. Brent, technopeasant
Rochelle: On the other hand, there's a whole bunch of us out here who you've never see drool over any picture in the comments, whether it's a "hot" woman or otherwise. Out of a million people on FF, I'm certainly ready to believe there are thousands of "guys" looking for hot pictures to drool over and also thousands of men who prefer women in all their complexities.
- Walt Crawford
Like I said, a "slut" or hot chick or whatever might catch my eye just like an expensive sports car might catch my eye...but that doesn't mean I really want one.
- Rahsheen ™, Coach Rah
Walt, I'm talking about people I interact with on FF and posts I've seen show up in my feed. I've never encountered you before on FF, so I have no idea what your commenting history is.
- Rochelle
Coming from Montreal, people would often rave about how beautiful Montreal women are... but I've also heard it said that your 'average' Montreal girl (whatever that is) knows how to dress in a way that flatters their particular body type.
- T. Brent, technopeasant
I find a woman beautiful based on a range of factors and I do not prejudge them into categories like 'hot girl' and 'normal'.
- Johnny Worthington
WHY ARE WE FORGETTING ABOUT THE MEN IN SWEATER VESTS AND BOW TIES? #furious
- Derrick
Derrick... I can appreciate a well groomed man as well...
- Johnny Worthington
Oh yes, there are men that like intelligent women. Then you end up as the *tech-support gal* .. :)
- Citronella
The thing about "hot" girls is that you can invest hundreds of hours in knowing how to look good to please others (and I'm drawing a distinction from ladies who do it for themselves, like many FF women), but you're still going to be old someday anyway. If you invest that time in knowing stuff, or being entertaining, you'll be the hot one with time.
- Lo
Yes I prefer girls with a healthy dose of fiber.
- Rodfather
This is a tricky question, actually. Obviously, I see where D is going, but I would argue that a girl not being tarted up does not make her "regular." Many of ff's most spectacularly crush-worthy ladies are not tarted up at all, and many of the guys on here notice quite often how fabulous these "regular" girls are. :)
- Bren -- Not Grinchy
Whatever they're wearing, I like intensity in a guy... probably why I like hanging around poets and Highlanders so much.
- T. Brent, technopeasant
I much prefer "regular" girls. I can't stand gigantic fake boobs, I'm not one for women with tattoos and trout pouts make my dick run for cover.
- Joey Gibson
Sure, some guys like regular girls. No, plain janes do not get more action nor asked on more dates. (Simple answer). And for some women (whom i admire) the makeup application that makes them look dynamite takes mere minutes, and they can hold a conversation quite easily - so equating makeup/tarted (?) with shallow is just an easy out. tarted up doesnt cancel out your worth as an intelligent human, for either sex. So, ernk to the turn this convo has taken.
- Archangel ωαřмaiden
I like regular girls. I like slutty girls. but most of all, I like punk rock girls. they punk rock my world.
- Morgan Haley
Im not a tart - I have neither the figure, the wardrobe nor the makeup skills to enhance my looks. But I dont trash those who do. I consider myself pretty regular - plain and chunky, on the higher side of smart. I just think this question (Do guys ever like regular girls") is too much like "do guys ever like chocolate?". The answer is some of them, some of the time, and it all depends on the chocolate.
- Archangel ωαřмaiden
I like a variety. Give me "vanilla", give me fetish and everything in between.
- ‘-.-’ Tutivillus Grift
lol I also notice tHat in the spectrum of tart vs regular, we've conveniently left out the ugly girl, for whom the only real answer is to have an awesome personality that overrides face (or interesting text that overrides posted pictures).
- Archangel ωαřмaiden
Warmaiden: I agree with you. However, I have seen photos of you wearing make-up, and you've mentioned buying lingerie...
- T. Brent, technopeasant
Dear godz. I like flesh, curves, handles, niches, painted, tanned, alabaster white, smart, simple, ditzy, high heels, bare feet, short skirts, amish dresses, burkas with hint of slutty eye, short, tall, wide, thin, tarty, virginal, ad infintum. But, there has to be some beauty there. Turn-offs - cankles, dirty feet, underarm hair, bad complexions, body odor, or the idea that sex (or our...

You know what? I wanted to like this thread. But you're all playing so facilely with stereotypes that don't mean jack shit that it's a pointless conversation. I'm a "regular girl", and a "slut" and a "tart", and a "librarian" -- what the HELL are you actually talking about, other than objectifying women while pretending to be enlightened about it?
- Jenica
Jenica, I think you're absolutely right. I've been trying to make that kind of point--at least it's been in the back of my head--but I've been doing it very, very, very badly.
- josh neff, geek at large
Nice work Jenica. File this under "threads I wish I hadn't posted in"
- s t e v e
I prefer to subjectify women. That is to say: SUBJECT THEM TO MY AWESOMENESS WOAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
- Akiva Moskovitz
I agree that words have a lot of baggage associated with them, but it'd be pretty hard to have this conversation without words. Is there another word besides "tart" that more adequately expresses the nuances that you feel should be included in such a discussion? Or is it just flat out wrong to talk about women period? (please read that in a non-confrontational tone, I don't mean to fight, just curious & happy to be ignored)
- Lo
"other than objectifying women while pretending to be enlightened about it" - Whedonification, or see also Sorkinification.
- Andrew C
Jenica, what do you find attractive in men? And don't answer with anything that would objectify them.
- Kenton
I don't think we're all playing with the stereotypes; or rather, I don't think we're all playing *along* with the stereotypes. Some of us (OK, me) are tweaking the stereotypes with our responses (except for the being married to a librarian part. Librarians are pretty neat, regardless of where they fall on the sexual attractiveness scale.)
- cecily
Hmmm. Being one who's in an open relationship, and a Kink? I get to deal with all types from all walks in many situations. I'm pretty desensitized to a lot of "normal" turn-ons, so someone who tries to stand out will get my attention - so will someone who tries to blend in. That's why I appreciate the entire spectrum. And yes! I love women who want me to objectify them, literally!
- ‘-.-’ Tutivillus Grift
Sean, if only I knew. This was delivered directly to me fresh and hot.

I'm surprised no one's noticed old boy's red-framed glasses.
- Akiva Moskovitz
oh right... the glasses are so important when three asian men are licking his nipples and all the comments are by people who think gay marriage has something to do with equality... when it has everything to do with taking protections away from children. the red glass glasses.... um yeah. chicken and Oklahoma with milk

It's just so refreshing to see genuine juvenile humour at work. These kids are no different from any other, I think it's a great happy image, given all the other shite happening in this world on a daily basis. For those that are too pompous and prudish, 'up yours with brass knobs'
- ImJustCreative
Wow. 666. Nice! Actually, the reason Asashoryu is getting a divorce ( http://ff.im/4T0UA ), is because he wants to spend time with this lot.
- Rick Cogley
To this day, the pic still comes back. Just like Herpes. :D
- Danny Minick
Although unlike herpes this photo is fun to share with friends.

I would rather go to http://woot.com and buy the Acer Aspire One for $259.99, I do not care that it is a refurb.. but what would I do with two laptops? Maybe #hive knows? hmm..

What's this? A real question in this thread? Two extra laptops? Make them fancy digital photo frames.

@SeanMcGee sorry about the spam, this thread is sorta spammy.. I get the messages in email perfect for replying with any message because it then gets posted on twitter and facebook.. I do not do it all the time, look at my other posts in this stream..

I just use this image as a way to announce crap. no one really pays attention to my feed... except my enemies. so when I have something important to say I tell the Asian Titty lickers. it is my strong belief that this thread needs it's very own domain name. something like http://xrl.us/TittyLickers
- Noah David Simon
You know, every time this pops up, since FF hides the middle of the comments of which there are 804 or so, I see Akiva say "I'm sorry." at the top. It makes me wonder about how some things are just not possible to apologize for!
- Rick Cogley
wow, I can't believe tomorrow is Friday :o) no, wait, somewhere in the world it's ALREADY Friday :o)

Thanks Rick, thats what I thought.. does that mean I can start with the #followfriday on twitter or do I have to wait till it is Friday here in NJ? would be funny to post it from this post LOL all my friendfeed goes to twitter..

David - yeah, you can get an early start.
- Rick Cogley
Rick, I am not good at lists or #followfriday but there are lotsa good people in this thread.

the thing that strikes me about this (aside from the obvious) is after seeing this thing pop up like 35-40 times since March its just occurred to me that I don't have any (guy) friends that a) would lick my nipples b) would lick my nipples for a photograph. Maybe I should get out more...
- J. Abdul-Qahhar
I'm a little scared that I've this has gotten more than 800 comments and almost 200 likes over nearly five months and I still haven't clicked "Hide."
- Scott of Two Countries
It's just a bit of fun. I mean watching how many comment, not the picture content (although I suspect that is all that was too!)
- Ian May
Allright, you guys ready to shoot "mirth and girth"?
- Rick Cogley
For the life of me, I'll never understand the emotion people have around this picture for or against. There's no nudity at all, not even implied nudity. Less dude nudity than a beer commercial or cigarette ad, yet there are people who really really really hate this picture.
- Matthew DeVries
I found a way to get a Tit Theme, and it involves this picture.
- Jimminy
Hahahaha! It's like a telethon. And after Joey Bishop goes off stage, they flash this picture on the screen. "Won't you think of the CHILDREN?"

I just had to bump this once more... gives me a whole new excuse to go look at Phoebe again!
- Mark "DerBingle" J
Hmmm, where do you think they're from? My guess is Japan...
- sofarsoShawn
The bumping algorithm includes things like novel people posting to it, in addition to thread age, and rapidity of comments. If the same 3 people are talking in a thread, it quits bumping because it's obviously a closed tea party.
- Matthew DeVries
I forgot, also you're a very handsome guy(saw the wedding images), I don't understand why you don't like to share your face. Rochelle is a lucky lady.
- Jimminy
Jimminy, it's an irrational phobia. No different than people who are afraid of heights, spiders, clowns, or Canada.
- Akiva Moskovitz
Akiva, now I'm LMAO at the fear of Canada. People are actually afraid of Canada, or just the fact they don't know if they're British or French?
- Jimminy
I don't think even Canadians know that difference.
- Akiva Moskovitz
If Friendfeed had sound .. this thread would be all licks and slurps
- Mattb4rd
Sorry Akiva, I think it was the display picture.. I have known male and female Akivas.. Oh and by the way guys I am not afraid of Canada LOL will be there this weekend.. Dave Marie von Ebner-Eschenbach<http://www.brainyquote.com/quotes...> - "Even a stopped clock is right twice a day."

I think locking this post would be un-FriendFeedian.

It is now September 1st, and this has not reached 1000 comments. I am sorely disappointed. Yet, for some reason, I am uplifted by the smile of this young man, who was fortunate enough to have such great friends that fateful day on the beach.
- Josh Haley
Quick let's add some comments... Gee that guy on the far left is not really getting into the swing of things is he?
- Travis Koger
Travis... bear in mind that we don't know what "main chubby guy's" right hand is doing, or where it's doing whatever it's doing...
- Mark "DerBingle" J
BUT WE CAN INFER WHAT "MAIN CHUBBY GUY'S" HANDS ARE DOING. BOTH OF THEM.
- Sparky
@Mark, of interest (well not really) is the location of Front Left guy's left hand.
- Travis Koger
The photo of Akiva in the jacuzzi with the Texas A&M cheerleaders would be so much more popular. Now if only someone would post it.

On Fark, there was this one thread, that just kept growing and growing. On Fark, it was a single page per thread. And you could post images and gif inline. Well the thread wouldn't die, people just kept posting. I forget which one it was. Anyway, it got so monsterous, that few people going to read/post to it per day (which was only a handfull) accounted for 1/3 of the server load of the site. They eventually had to cull that thread.
- Matthew DeVries
I think everyone who has participated in this thread has 'culled' themselves privately.
- Akiva Moskovitz
What with all the copycat images this has inspired I hope our muse continues to stick around and not get lost in the shuffle of so many knockoffs.

Yes, Sparky, they do not know how good they have it there frolicking on the beach while we freeze up here.. Hard to believe it is only 49 degrees, feels like 29.. I bet it's at least 85 degrees on that beach.

Matthew, you may have given some people more reason to keep bumping this thread.
- Victor Ganata
How does it give you thumb exercise? Whatever you're doing, why don't you either use the keyboard or switch to Linux so you can middle-click the scrollbar to jump to where you want? :P
- Tanath
actually this thread does not bother me because I get it in email and gmail groups them and starts new thread after every 100 comments. I have it autoarchived so I do not have to see on phone lol and just see when I look at my ffeed label in gmail.

this is probably the most popular feed of 2009 in FF. lol.
- Bora Mesut PALAS
I think the one where Robert Scoble gave away money easily beats this one, but this post has staying power. ;-)

I think that Chinese at FF post was a marriage proposal thing. They were all trying to bump the guy's photo so that it would be the first thing his girlfriend would see when she logged onto FF.

'A lot of times, when a show that we love gets canceled way too early in its run, we like to trot out the mantra: "It was before its time." But looking at a television landscape with The Office, 30 Rock and Parks & Recreation (and that's just one night on one network), I really do think Sports Night may have been too innovative for its own good.'
- Akiva Moskovitz
from Bookmarklet
LOVED Sports Night. Glad to see Josh Charles on TV again on The Good Wife. The way they handled Gillaume's stroke was excellent. I loaned my DVD's out and doubt I'll ever get them back. Wish I had them.
- Gunny doesn't side-hug™
Yep. Count me as another Sports Night fan. Someday I'll get the DVDs.
- FF's Bubba of Arizona
Sports Night is AWESOME. I have the DVDs but have been savoring them, not watching all of them yet. I didn't know about it when it was on.
- Jandy, ConcertMaven of FF
It's probably just as well you waited, Bubba. I bought them early and they had no extras. Then years later they released one with some extras.
- Spidra Webster
I felll in love with Felicity Huffman when this show arrived.
- Mark "DerBingle" J
Apparently I fell so hard that an extra "l" was involved!
- Mark "DerBingle" J
haha...yeah, that was my first taste of Ms. Huffman and it was good... :)
- JA Castillo
I've only recently found myself as a steak fan, but I've conjured up a pretty good rub, and I think I have a pretty good cooking technique. It's too big though, oh my stars, I ate just under half of it.
- Derrick
Chili powder, granulated garlic, brown sugar, kosher salt, little dried thyme and oregano, black pepper, cayenne, and onion powder. I put it on just before lunch time, let it sit, and let the steak come up to temperature just before putting in the cast iron, which had been in a 450 degree oven for twenty minutes.
- Derrick
In a wonderful turn of events, D, you'll get to have steak on Instinct as well.
- Jason Toney
That's a lot like the one I use. I have a couple ribeyes in the freezer right now, in fact.
- ha3rvey, not a sweetheart
Whuuuut, JT? I have to admit I bought these for a photo shoot that never came to fruition. The indulgent side of me loves the ribeyes, but the more practical likes the skirt steak. Good to know, JT. Just gotta load up on the veggies, right?
- Derrick
yeah, 6 oz steak portion (and lean) plus some veggies and you're all set.
- Jason Toney
@Derrick - now I know you are family...sweet potato fries are loved here too!
- JA Castillo
Well, damn, JT, that's kinda what I ate tonight. JA, I need to learn how to make mine from scratch; these were frozen via Trader Joe's.
- Derrick
The wife cuts hers, places them on a cookie sheet and adds a dash of olive oil atop and then drops them in the oven. Season w/ salt thereafter. It's a bit different and if you are not on top of things, you can burn them, but it beats frying them up! :)
- JA Castillo
I think Cook's Illustrated had a recipe for oven sweet potato fries earlier this year. I'll see if I can find it.
- ha3rvey, not a sweetheart
Damn that looks good. Not to mention a very tasty looking skillet.
- Mark Krynsky
You are quite welcome! How did you go about creating these? Love DIY design stuffs and these rock! Is there a quick & dirty way to round edges?!
- JA Castillo
It was real easy JA... did the design as a variation of this web page we had: http://www.moosicorn.com/about-u... (Did all the graphics editing in powerpoint and paint.net cause I don't know what I'm doing and it's the simplest program with layers)... printed them out on recycled card stock from PaperZone. Cut them out... the 3rd picture is of me with the rounded-corner punch thingy (also from PaperZone). Stamped the back with a postcard stamp and voila!
- SAM
JA, you can get a corner rounder from scrapbook supply places.
- Laura Lou Who
Yep, we got ours from PaperZone... the stamp (cool and vintage looking) for the back came from "Impress" my wonderful wife just told me.
- SAM
I like these for a few reasons... It's us on them, and having made them they mean more to us. They're on recycled paper and don't require envelopes. Cost wise, we saved a ton. They have less space to fill up with writing. (I can never think of too much aside from the obligatory, happy holidays and have a great year sort of thing.)
- SAM
So, how can we get on your mailing list? ;)
- Laura Lou Who
Very cool! I make our card every year (and I am WAAAAY behind this year!) and this is the first time I have seen a DIY project that looked "do-able" and did not require a letterpress or other crazy and/or expensive things to complete. Kudos to you both! :)
- JA Castillo
Laura: Feel free to send me your address written in erasable ink on a 1940 Martin D-45 acoustic guitar. :) Or DM.
- SAM
TOO FUNNY! Al and I start to write our greetings on all of them, passing them to the other for their "& Name" part... then she steals them all away from me. Apparently sexism is alive and well... she feels like a "bad female" for them all not being in her hand with my & Scott at the end. :) (Hope she doesn't burn dinner, while she's writing them out.) ;)
- SAM
While playing WoW the other night (I'm a noob) I was thinking of this arcade game. Thanks for the memories!!
- jcunwired
It would be hilarious if your character in WoW would shriek and yelp like Dirk does.
- Victor Ganata
When I first tried that game at the arcades, I thought the objective was to get the guy killed because that's all I ever seem to have been able to do. And they were intricate deaths too.
- Arlan Koizumi
I think it's just niche humor, and overplayed. But this one is pretty funny for the strip. There's a really funny site called xkcd explained... http://xkcdexplained.com/ ... they catch the weird subtexts.
