Brains are not static, but dynamic and changing. Continuously, new connections are formed in our brain. It is very important to connect to a known context and experience to make learning easier. For instance, link theory to work experiences and it will be easier for people to understand it and to relate to it. While using social media you can use this phenomenon by coupling the online world to the real world, by using words from the real world. I often use words like bungalow, library etc.

And they've mirrored that by making it easy to scout, to see what others are spouting about. Please understand that just a decade ago, both were private, non-commercial activities. Now, they represent the future of media, and thus the future of what we do all day.

It depends what you're into. When there's stuff that's not easy to bake into the video itself, I would like much more of an intro around that stuff. Rebecca Black is a good example of this. It's a really bad music video, but what's better than that is the story. I need someone to tell that story, and no machine can do that as effectively as a person today. That's where human curators come in.

What is social media curation? Today, with the exponential growth of social networks and blogs, it can be overwhelming searching for information on the internet. As a result, the act of filtering, selecting, reviewing and providing commentary with a perspective on an article, or collection of articles, have become increasingly important.

On Twitter, you are mixing content, content that the audience you hope to engage will find--not only interesting--but, irresistible, irresistible enough to comment on, @reply, retweet, share, like, etc. Ultimately, you hope your followers will enlist their followers to follow you because of your great content. Some call it a tribe, but think of it as your own club, a club where you are the DJ and people come to have a good time. As a Content Curator, you should be entertaining.

Within minutes of the quake, a group of local IT professionals had formed a team to solve that problem. Using a combination of Twitter, the open-source disaster mapping tool Ushahidi, and a large group of dedicated people, www.eq.org.nz was created to meet the immediate needs of quake-affected residents. It also points the way forward, demonstrating how technology and people can be best deployed in future natural disasters.

Twitter, as a communications platform, has evolved beyond nascent Twttr's charmingly mundane updates ("cleaning my apartment"; "hungry") and into something more crowd-conscious and curatorial.

As Scholarship Goes Digital, Academics Seek New Ways to Measure Their Impact - Technology - The Chronicle of Higher Education - http://chronicle.com/article...
An approach called altmetrics—short for alternative metrics—aims to measure Web-driven scholarly interactions, such as how often research is tweeted, blogged about, or bookmarked. "There's a gold mine of data that hasn't been harnessed yet about impact outside the traditional citation-based impact," says Dario Taraborelli, a senior research analyst with the Strategy Team at the Wikimedia Foundation and a proponent of the idea.
