"After its package redesign, sales of the Tropicana Pure Premium line plummeted 20% between Jan. 1 and Feb. 22, costing the brand tens of millions of dollars. On Feb. 23, the company announced it would bow to consumer demand and scrap the new packaging, designed by Peter Arnell. It had been on the market less than two months."

-20% is actually not bad between Jan - Feb. I liked the old packaging myself. Rounded orange lid is neat but gets slippery.

+1 to Benjy's comment. The new design is horrible. It looks like the store brand at best. It's not distinctive at all.

I actually liked the new design - looked less "fake" for some reason. Plus, the new design makes me think more of a mimosa. ; )

The only thing wrong with the new design is that it was not immediately recognizable as a known brand.

I've wondered about this. It happened around the same time as the economy crashing, so I wonder if it was all due to the change, or because a "premium" orange juice suffers in this economy. That said, I hated the packaging, too.
