This is my personal worry, I'm quiet heavily in debt. Though, job depending, I'll be paying a lot more towards it from now on. - Kol Tregaskes
There is no form of credit that is immune. We are seeing the economy re-set after years of overly available, overly used credit. All of the bad credit will need to be purged from the system before there is any real recovery. - Brian roy
I'm very worried about this. As someone who makes his money off e-commerce, if credit cards are 'turned off', I'll probably see a 75% drop in income immediately. The upside - if it is that - is that it's very difficult for people to escape their credit card debt. The heavily indebted will just have to work it off, God help them. - Rob Sterling
Sad to see this domino effect put into action. Although lending practices in the credit card market were obviously more risky for the lender, the real fear to me would be rising unemployment. As this occurs more people cannot pay, and the cycle goes on. I will be surprised if unemployment doesn't spike to 10% in the next year... yikes! - ChangeForge | Ken Stewart
I have been waiting for this one to hit. It just has seemed inevitable for years. I hope that better regulation will be the ultimate outcome, maybe before the shit hits ... nah, now that's crazy talk. - Nadine Schaeffer
Personal anecdote - I just got a letter in the mail from one credit card I have, saying the account would be closed starting in november. I hadn't used the card in a year (0 balance) and have excellent credit. They're already pulling back. - Jason Kaneshiro
At least this is happening. The last bastion of abuse (and probably the worst) is being approached. The downside. Those that didn't get out in time have been using their CC's to save their homes while repositioning, even at the (usually) insane rates. Jason - I'm still getting at least 3 apps in the mail a week. Are they clear?? Plain language? No way. - Charlie Anzman
Indeed, we've been teetering on the edge of financial collapse for years. Bush and McCain did nothing to prevent this. Rather, they accelerated the pace. - Mike Reynolds
In the last few months I have made a substantial effort to pay down my credit, fearing a letter in the mail requiring me to pay it down on an accelerated timeline. On the other side, another friend has been maxing out his cards on the theory that consumer credit would soon be shut off soon anyway, and by the time he had to pay it back the dollar would be devalued. Ugly. - Rob Sterling
Probably time to pay off the credit card and then put it away. - Bored
I've been predicting this for at least a decade now. - Chris Luckhardt
I've seen stories where CC lenders have lowered the limit on accounts, below the actual balances on the cards, and then the following month, charged their customers an over-the-limit fee. That's sick and greedy, in my mind. Yeah, they have the "right," but is it _right_ to exercise it? - Heather Sillypants Mina
sucks man, this really, really, really sucks for me right now! - genieyclo
@Heather unfortunately whenever one borrows money, the lender has all the right to dictate the terms, after all, it's their money. - Jason Kaneshiro
@Jason, that is completely correct. There's also a duty that an organization has to ALL of its stakeholders (i.e., not ONLY to its stockholders). Is it really best for all of the stakeholders to begin taking punitive actions like this against customers? How about these orgs who foreclosed on so many homes, which they cannot now sell? How does that help even the stockholders, much less the other stakeholders of the company? - Heather Sillypants Mina
and yet still, no one learns how to live in a different way ... so, more chaos is needed - Gregory Lent
Wow. I remember that stage. My girl is now five. Where did the time fly? - John McCrea
They both managing to sleep through the night yet? - Mike Fruchter
Thats a good trick. I'll file that one away. - Denton Gentry
Dude. Your babies are SO cute!!!! When do I get to babysit?? Seriously! :-D - Lisa L. Seifert
We are like Friendfeed Aunties and Uncles. :) Thanks for sharing your bundles of joy with us. :) - Daynah
@Daynah, thanks for letting me. It is fun, and believe me, I wish I could share all of them. With the iPhone and PhotoBooth, it's just too dang easy. And Lisa, we would love it. When are you coming over? - Louis Gray
Voice of reason... at least NOW they aren't particular about what you put in them. I really think Pete needs a vacation with the Grays for training purposes. They are dang cute though. How big now? Need to get Pete on a weight-lifting program so she could tote them around for you. - Cyndy
Cyndy, I would venture that Sarah is 9 to 10 and Matthew is about 12 pounds at this point. And DO send Pete. We'd love it. - Louis Gray
There are polls that predict the election? How do they get the Diebold voting machines to answer the phone? - Bruce Lewis
Louis, that may be true, but the Republicans did not have so many issues in their campaings either. And, the Kerry and Gore leads were earlier in the campaigns, not this close to election day. - Rob Diana
+1 Louis. Not ready to break out the party hats just yet. - JodyUnwired
I agree with Louis, this huge lead in the polls is making me VERY nervous, especially with memories of 2000. - Trish R
I still like to pretend Obama is behind in the polls. This is the time for Obama supporters to increase their effort, not coast. - AJ Kohn
Agreed AJ. Although Obama looks like he'll take PA, I'm still going to return there to help drive folks to the polls. Can't be sleepin on this now. - Marko Bon
Why do people repeat the myth that Kerry and Gore both lead in pollls. It's just not true, especially after August of their respective years. But there's no need to get complacent. You should make sure everyone you know is going to vote and actually gets out and does it. - Faboo Mama
the Slate App on my iPhone compares previous races to this one, at this same point in the race. Doing better than Gore Obama is. - Marko Bon
"If you see your opponent drowning, throw the son of a bitch an anvil!" — James Carville - Victor Ganata
What makes it even more frustrating is that the bastard just left an insulting comment on my post, after I gave him a chance by not revealing his real name. His comment didn't make it live, but still, it shows that I was too nice. I'm still mulling it over, but I may reveal his full name and his home address, too. - Raoul Pop
If you paid by credit card, or even funded your paypal account with your credit/debit card you can dispute it through them and get your money back. Paypal does not fight credit card disputes so it should be relatively easy to get your money back. You were cheated and you need to get your money back. - Jason Shultz
Seriously, for a "new" phone to be in that condition you would have had to take it outside and run over it in your car a couple of times and then drop it in a lake or bay. Even then, it would take a minimum of a week for the phone to come out in that condition! The guy's being dishonest: I hope you get all your money back! - vicster
Interestingly enough, adam81578 had a similar experience with a buyer back in 2006. "Sold me a USED item as new. Had many excuses. Beware" Adam's response: "IT IS BRAND NEW ...she can't set it up to receive ringtones or internet BEWARE" - Ontario Emperor
Just started the dispute process on PayPal. I had to wait 10 days from the date of the transaction. - Raoul Pop
For a while now, I've been thinking that Betty was wasted for a lotta years, playing the smiling ditz. It was incredibly fun watching her play the screeching harpy on That '70s Show. - Roger Benningfield
i adore that woman. i had the chance to hang with her for a day for a charity event. she's raunchy as all get out. i'd love to see her and etta james together. i may even blush. - Faboo Mama
She did a cameo on Ugly Betty recently and she got to show the claws a bit. It was awesome. I love Betty White. Always have. - .·*♥pea♥*·.
Roger: she played 'the tramp' on some show during the 70s. My mom mentioned this to me one day while we were watching Golden Girls because she said it made it harder for her to see her as Rose. - Stupid Blogger (aka Tina)
she was pretty catty on the Mary Tyler Moore show if I remember correctly. - .·*♥pea♥*·.
I think I know exactly how that came about. The author was trying to say "the whole thing," couldn't come up with the accurate term, and just left it there. I do that stuff all the time, especially when writing in a foreign language. - Vincent van Wylick
OK, the first person that says Bud Lite, gets a swift kick in the butt!! - Jeff P. Henderson
Well, if I am forced to decide which beer was coming close to be the best one I ever experienced, I guess I have to choose for Närke Stormaktens Porter. It was extremely expensive, those 20cl, but it was worth every drop. - Ton Zijp
I love Belgian beers, Leffe, Grimnbergen. I also like local beers that you can't get in Boston. Keith's from Nova Scotia, also Yuengling and Fat Tire. - Steve Garfield

Sierra Nevada Pale Ale FTW! woo hooo! (BTW, there is a huge "Beers of the World" store in Rochester, NY - another reason I love living here!) - Susan Beebe
I really like a lot of the older ones, it's interesting to see how what was "modern" and "new" in design styles evolved over time. That said, some of them are horrible, Nokia, Original Nike, and Mazda....eesh. - cmiper
"No one really knows the extent of McCain's melanoma problems. What I do know is that of the more common cancers, melanoma and pancreatic cancer are the two most frightening to have. I do not personally know of a single case of melanoma that has survived more than a few years that was not apparently localized at the time of excision. McCain has had "four" surgeries for his cancer, so it would seem that it has spread. Why else would he have had follow up surgery? AND WE HAVE NOT A CLUE AS TO WHAT OTHER TREATMENT MODALITIES HE HAS BEEN SUBJECTED TO.
I think it is quite possible that amongst other areas of spread, he could have brain metastases and this could account for the neurological events we have witnessed. If such be the case...
I can not be absolutely certain of his condition as, not only have I never met the man, I have never seen his medical records, but neither has anyone else." - ☺ Cecily ☺

geez i hope this isn't true for his sake and for the world's sake if he gets elected - Roland Tanglao
Roland, this is precisely why everybody is so deeply concerned about Palin. It is unthinkable that she would become president. The rumour is that she was hand picked by Rove and will serve as nothing more than a puppet for a continued Rovian agenda. http://www.alternet.org/blogs/... - Mel "Friend of Marco" McB
