You know, you could have just started feeding in your tweets here and achieved the same, right? Or would that have been too subtle?

My twitter stream is the typical... random thought bubbles, food porn pics, and shared items relating to technology, politics, and $$$. http://twitter.com/sean808080 is where you find me. Oh and I like unicorns and fairy dust.

I've been using this for a few days now and it's working quite well. Sometimes, the email addresses appear a beat funky to the recipients, but so far everybody's been getting their emails. How's it been for you?
- Carlos Granier-Phelps
I haven't tried the Groups app, though it's been mentioned a few times. I'll check it out now to see exactly how they deal with this issue. One thing, though, my solution is free ;-)
- Carlos Granier-Phelps
Checked out Groups and it can't do photos yet. The Camera application allows you to email up to 3 photos per message - however you can't interface the Camera app with the Groups app. There's another app called MultiPhoto that allows you to send multiple photos but not to multiple recipients.
- Carlos Granier-Phelps
UPDATED: Now works with most email services and eliminates the Invalid Address dialog box.
- Carlos Granier-Phelps
"Thanks so much for this find. I'll update the article with these instructions. I've already tried it and confirmed that that "Invalid Address" dialog is indeed gone! BTW, I found no traces of your comment from yesterday. Nothing in spam folder either."
- Carlos Granier-Phelps
"I really like what TV.com and clicker.com are doing for organizing web tv content. With so much content out there, these are the curators we've been talking about for so long. Can't wait for one of them (or a newcomer) to implement what I envisioned years ago as the "Google TV Dashboard" (http://red66.com/2006...)."
- Carlos Granier-Phelps
This is super slick. I wish Apple had an option to download a local cache of an IMAP store like this.
- Sparky
thanks Zee...I'm installing it now with 6GB on gmail
- Simone Lovati
I tried buying it today, at the indicated price of $4.99, but the App Store kept giving me a "This item is currently being modified. Please try again later" message. When it finally worked, the price was back up to $9.99, even though their website states that it would be $4.99 until Sept. 17. Guess what? it's still Sept. 17 here.

If you use the Gmail theme "Tea House" you may not have noticed that, late at night, the ghosts come out to play. Have you found any other easter eggs in Gmail's themes?
- Carlos Granier-Phelps
from Bookmarklet
Whoa. I use that theme on one of my accounts, but I never use that account at night.
- Admiral Anika
haha. Love Easter Eggs. Thanks for pointing that out. Like Anika I never use that account at night. BUT I do like how the solar system rotates on my Gmail Theme throughout the day. Very fine. :)
- Melanie Reed
That's supposed to happen as well in the same iGoogle theme but I have the impression that that only works in America as I have never managed to see that in the iGoogle page, which is pretty disappointing. The rest of the world do like those Eastern Eggs in the Google themes, not that I have waited at night to see it (I'm lying on this) but if you, for whatever reason (playing Sudoku), are still up you should be able to watch and enjoy it in the same way as an American. Shame on you Larry and Sergey. ;)
- Cibeles
I use this theme, and i have never noticed. :)
- Simon Wicks
In Singapore, I can also see some. Like in the Phantasea theme, usually water is deep blue, but when getting late (2200pm i guess), it will become purple. and deep in the night( 3 or 4 AM, not sure, because usually never bother to look at clock at that time) it will be like bloody red.
- Kloan Zh
"That's a great list of missing features... I wrote this when the original 3G iPhone came out... Now it's the 3GS and still most of them are missing. I'm thinking of turning your comment into a guest post."
- Carlos Granier-Phelps
Isn't it a lovely, seamless experience?! I am a newbie myself, but already need to control my desire to post everything I like. It's just so darn *smooth* :-)
- Ilana Gurman
I really do not see Posterous as a substitute for Friendfeed users. FF works in both ways (aggregating from other services and publishing to other services). Posterous, on the other hand, only works publishing (not aggregating), if I understood it correctly.
- Caio Cesar
Caio: It is most certainly not a substitute - it's more of a seamless, personal blog with better autoshare options. That's how I see it.
- Ilana Gurman
from email
Posterous is fun. I'm using it with the bookmarklet to post in my Wordpress blog from time to time. Works well. :)
- Claude LaFrenière
I love the seamless handling of music files. Makes sharing all the cool new Texas Music I run into with family back home in Indiana a breeze. I'm a big fan of Posterous! !
- j a c k Williams
Ilana: As I commented, I do not see it as a substitute. But the way people are talking about it (as an alternative to Friendfeed) is really strange.
- Caio Cesar
Caio: Well, people are strange ;-) I think posterous and FF are complementary. Folks are just excited about it's potential, so they may make it seem like posterous has the capacity to make everything before it totally obsolete (like most new, shiny web things)
- Ilana Gurman
from email
FriendFeed rocks, Posterous rocks, but FriendFeed != Posterous. I'm at http://scherbi.posterous.com/, and I've just subscribed to yours, Robert. Have fun with it!
- Bill Scherer
How timely. Just this morning I was evaluating using Posterous for use as a casual blog (in the lifestream mode of Steve Rubel) and comparing it to the Wordpress.com hosted solution. I like just about everything about Posterous. Some customization would be nice, but I understand they are working on that and it's a trade-off with the simplicity they now offer.
- Scott Magoon
Posterous is really easy to use, specially when uploading video from cell phones... Webwise, they need to make their bookmarklet more user friendly, particularly when choosing which posterous blog to use (you have several, don't you? I do) (Friendfeed has solved this really well).
- Carlos Granier-Phelps
You should put it on a subdomain of scobleizer.com

"@scottgina It's an amazing book... fun and enlightening. And you're right, we should all pay more attention to family stories as we grow up - after a while it's our turn to tell them. Thanks!"

I'm having a similar issue with a Windows laptop. It boots in to Windows just fine, on battery or on power, runs for about two minutes and then instantaneously shuts off. When it re-starts there is no Windows failure message, so, my guess is something is loose in the power delivery or a faulty power supply.
- MVB (Curmudgeon of FF)
I was having the same problems with my Windows laptop which was going on its 7th year and I finally broke down and bought a Macbook Pro and I am elated to say the least
- Kirk Fontaine
Mark, that's exactly what happened with my Windows laptop. Some bit in there was fried from the heat of the laptop.
- Admiral Anika
Zee, do you have an external monitor? Maybe you can get it to show up there, which would point to a faulty graphics chip. Happened to my brother and Apple replaced it for free even though he was out of warranty.
- Carlos Granier-Phelps
Have you just installed any new s/w, especially anything that could modify the GUI? If you have, then try to boot in single user mode. If you cannot do this, then there is probably a hardware problem, because almost nothing get started or loaded in single user mode. If you can boot in single user mode, use the command prompt to go to the allegedly offend piece of software and delete it....

I agree that retweeting and "favoriting" per se are redundant, and think your workaround is kinda cool, but I think a lot of people (like me) use the favorite function more as a flag for later kind of thing. Maybe favoriting should just be repurposed? Twitter could finally embrace the retweet on their web site and rename "Favorite" to a simple "Starred" (whatever one then wants that to mean).
- Grey Drane
I use the twitter "Favorites" function as a quasi bookmarking tool (very handy). I see re-tweeting more as a "re-publishing" function. Maybe it's just a naming issue?
- Martin
I use favouriting when I'm on my iPod touch or school computer and I want to save a link to visit later. Retweeting is for sharing a tweet with others
- Bryce Roney
from iPod
I guess for me, I can't see why you would want to save a link but not retweet it...but hey, each to their own
- Zee.
I used to do it for sites that were hard to read on the iPhone, but now SimplyTweet and its landscape-aware browser (and Instapaper support) eliminate that need. Now I just do it for multimedia content that doesn't work on the iPhone (like Flash content) or for the odd really interesting tweet that I'll need time to ponder.
- Grey Drane
from IM
U can always retweet 2 different sets of audiences on Twitter or favorite 4 your own use 4 future reference.
- polou/indigo_bow
Nah, favorites are for me, I can retweet them later or share them using Google Reader. Retweet is more immediate, especially when you are retweeting emergencies or time sensitive information.
- Gabriel
The only time I *ever* favorite anything on Twitter is when I see a link to something interesting, while accessing Twitter on my iPhone, that I want to read later when I'm on my netbook/laptop/desktop. I don't use it to indicate a feeling about the tweet one way or another.
- Joey Gibson
I also use Retweets and Favorites as completely different tools. RTs are for tweets I find worthy of reposting to my followers, while I use Favorites as a poor man's bookmark-for-later system, specially while using Twitter on my iPhone. When I have time, and am back on my desktop, I go through my Favorites -deselecting them after I check them out. If I find one of them is worth retweeting, I'll do so too.
- Carlos Granier-Phelps
I with the favorite mark as a save for later crowd, like when there is a link that looks interesting but I don't have the time to look at it now. I use retweet to send out a message I see to everyone
- Kim Landwehr
I use "Favorites" as a way to bookmark items I want to come back to later.
- Steve Sill
I'm with Steve, Favorites are my way of bookmarking and just keeping track of tweets that I never want to forget or see gone from Twitter search at some point in the near future.
- Corvida
I agree with commenters that say RTs are for everyone but favorites are just for me. I don't use it just for URL bookmarking, though. I use the Save to Instapaper feature of my mobile twitter client (Gravity) to read URLs later.
- dthree
some reasons might include consideration for others, noise pollution or the simple fact that it merely amuses you or likely applies to only your own interests. They're completely different animals. I have to admit I don't favor many Tweets unless it's something that interest me. I would like to see a retweet function on the site since it's in evert Twitter client except Twitter itself

"But with just one branch, in San Antonio, and customers deployed all over the world, the company has been aggressively developing an anytime, anywhere banking strategy. Three years ago, it introduced the option of depositing a check from home using a scanner. That laid the groundwork for the phone deposit feature, which USAA plans to offer on other phones this year."

I've thought about it but have never done it. I don't like the idea of having to completely rebuild my phone experience every time a new iPhoneOS version comes out.
- Akiva Moskovitz
Nay. I don't have the time to deal with jailbreaking and patching.
- Bill Sodeman
Yes sir, jailbroken is the only way to go. Backgrounder and Qik are worth it alone.
- Nathan Chase
@Akiva - you don't - there's an app called AptBackup that will backup all the apps you download, themes, etc. and whenever you upgrade to the new firmware, you redownload AptBackup, hit Restore, and all your apps are redownloaded, and all your apps and settings are restored. It's fantastic.
- Nathan Chase
Woah, I hadn't heard of that. A may have to do this now. Damn you, Nathan Chase!!!!!!!!!!!!!
- Akiva Moskovitz
@Akiva - haha... now don't get Steven Perez angry by usurping his catch phrase

I want to, because I want video. But I keep hoping Apple will let a video app in the app store soon. Maybe I'll wait until my warranty is out anyway and then jailbreak.

just got it done yesterday at mass jailbreak session at 360 iDev conference. Nothing like having Chris Hughes break my phone.. Heard that Saurik has compiled his iphone app on the iphone! I totally want VNC server to demo the phone on the mac.

For discussion on jailbreaking, Ive opened The Jailbreak Room.
- Michel
About to finally jailbreak an OS3.0 3G (not the 3GS), but I've been jailbreakin' since it was uphc'ing... ;-p oh and to add... I don't really feel the need with the 3GS now that I have native video, although I do miss sbSettings and those quick toggles and with no VoiceCentral/gVoice it could be a possibility...
