I'm sure she was just trying to stimulate the economy... - Jeremy Zawodny
I am overjoyed to say that I don't care one whit about Sarah Palin today. Have fun in Alaska reachin' across all those bridges you've now burned. - Carla Thompson
Obama spent over $700,000 in campaign money on stage lights in Berlin. What's a bigger waste of money? - Spencer
Nice. "One senior aide said that Nicolle Wallace had told Palin to buy three suits for the convention and hire a stylist. But instead, the vice presidential nominee began buying for herself and her family — clothes and accessories from top stores such as Saks Fifth Avenue and Neiman Marcus. According to two knowledgeable sources, a vast majority of the clothes were bought by a wealthy donor, who was shocked when he got the bill. Palin also used low-level staffers to buy some of the clothes on their credit cards. The McCain campaign found out last week when the aides sought reimbursement. One aide estimated that she spent ‘tens of thousands’ more than the reported $150,000, and that $20,000 to $40,000 went to buy clothes for her husband. - Paul Buchheit
Well, it was pretty clear John and Sarah didn't get along when you saw them up there at the end of his concession speech. Can you say icy? - AJ Kohn
Spencer: that $700,000 was for the stage, lights, sound, etc. Large productions require lots of staff and equipment, so they're expensive. Palin just went on a massive shopping spree. And the biggest reason people are complaining is because the Republicans mocked Edwards's $400 haircut in the last campaign. - Gabe
What Palin allegedly did was wrong but come on anyone that pays $400 for a haircut deserves what ever anyone said about him. Besides I don't think that was the only trim he was getting - gfurry
Details about the $400 haircut(s!): http://www.slate.com/id/216452... - Stephen Foskett
Can we get over the stupid things both sides have done this last election and move on?!? You know, post-partisan, post-racial, post-sexist and all that? - Robert Worstell
She was trying to stimulate something... - Gautam Guliani

"The Church of England will concede in a statement that it was over-defensive and over-emotional in dismissing Darwin's ideas. It will call "anti-evolutionary fervour" an "indictment" on the Church". The bold move is certain to dismay sections of the Church that believe in creationism and regard Darwin's views as directly opposed to traditional Christian teaching. " - l.m.orchard
You have to remember that Conservative Evangelical Fundamentalists are a minority in the Church of England and there has even been room for Priests and Bishops who almost tend to be on the side of that "God" is more symbolic than really real, so this "apology" will come more as a shock to Americans who see Christianity in the narrow context of their country's most vocal adherents than the UK Church members who have been brought up with evolution taught as fact in school since childhood. - Stuart Woodward

"A distributed key-value storage system designed for persistent" and it's powered by BerkeleyDB under the hood. Nice. - Jeremy Zawodny
Nice? I don't see how this could be useful. Any thoughts?.. - Nikolay Samokhvalov
my question is: what does this offer that mysql in-memory does not? - MikeAmundsen
... or in-memory postgres does not ;-) - Nikolay Samokhvalov
Nikolay: it guarantees O(1) lookup (because you can't do anything else with memcached); it's perfect for semi-transient things like nonce tokens, cookies and icons - Bill de hÓra
What I've always liked about Memcache is it's non-blocking IO. The question is whether Memcachedb managed to preserve it. - Eugene
We tried memcachedb. It's not stable :( - Alex Kapranoff
2samokhvalov: in-memory is irrelevant here. memcachedb is a "memcached" interface to Berkeley DB which is a persistent file-based DB. Also, Berkeley DB is much faster than both mysql and pg (like, say, 10 times or more) doing simple things it's intended to (storing key=>value pairs). - Alex Kapranoff

"Obfuscated TCP is a backwards-compatible modification to the TCP protocol which adds opportunistic encryption. It's designed to hamper and detect large-scale wiretapping and corruption of TCP traffic on the Internet." Interesting! - Jeremy Zawodny
Simple and nice, thanks for the link. On the other hand I bet authorities will do everything in their power to prevent this opportunistic encryption from spreading. - Eugene
