"Since winning “Project Runway,” designer Christian Siriano has become one of the fashion industry’s most respected new names. But the young designer says he’d like to see more diversified options for women who wear above a size 8. At the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show pink carpet in New York last night, Siriano told FoxNews.com that he thinks it’s great that there has been a rising push to include more real size women in fashion"

"New LED tattoos from the University of Pennsylvania could make the Illustrated Man real (minus the creepy stories, of course). Researchers there are developing silk and silicon implantable devices which sit under the skin like a tattoo. Already implanted into mice, these tattoos could carry LEDs, turning the wearer’s skin into a screen"

A local greasy spoon here has an door labelled "smoke free entrance" about 4 meters from the open archway leading to the smoking section. I believe the words I uttered aloud upon first seeing it were "You have got to be fucking kidding me..."
- Michael W. May
You sure they weren't trying to just keep an entrance smoke-free? I mean, the smokers around here all cluster right next to the door so that you have to go through a cloud of smoke to get in or out of a building.
- Spidra Webster
No... this is Sticksville, USA, not enough people here to loiter. The loitering takes place inside at the big table from 5am to 1pm in an slow exchange of old men with caps. This is the halfassed attempt to provide a door directly to the non-smoking section. The smoke is everywhere.

Proud california non smoker, Dies from lung cancer contracted due to driving on the 405 freeway to work every day. Pick your Battles.. Polution from cars is 10,000 times greater then cigarettes. Watch Out non smokers, your cars could go away just as quick as the smokers rights have...
- SCS Watching the Sun
Our buildings at work have a smoker's area placed well away from the doors, but there's always a crowd right outside the door, it seems. Always have to take a deep breath, hold it, and rush through. Very happy to live in Cali now, where at least indoors, you don't have that disgusting habit forced on you. Glad to see other states following suit.

"The Sun is a bubbling mass. Packages of gas rise and sink, lending the sun its grainy surface structure, its granulation. Dark spots appear and disappear, clouds of matter dart up - and behind the whole thing are the magnetic fields, the engines of it all. The SUNRISE balloon-borne telescope, a collaborative project between the Max Planck Institute for Solar System Research in Katlenburg-Lindau and partners in Germany, Spain and the USA, has now delivered images that show the complex interplay on the solar surface to a level of detail never before achieved."

The agency did not recommend countries set limits on how many children people should have, but said: "Women with access to reproductive health services ... have lower fertility rates that contribute to slower growth in greenhouse gas emissions.""

""The out-of-context Newsweek approach is sexist and oh-so-expected by now. If anyone can learn anything from it: it shows why you shouldn't judge a book by its cover, gender, or color of skin. The media will do anything to draw attention -- even if out of context.""

Notice she doesn't say you shouldn't judge a book by its sexual orientation or religious afiliation.

What context is she talking about -- does she even know what "out-of-context" means?
- Brian Sullivan
What a moron. Out of context, yes, but wouldn't sexist imply that people only use photos of women politicians out of context? Something about Obama in a turban comes to mind...

"Reid got good news Wednesday when the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) reported the measure would spend $849 billion over 10 years to cover 31 million of the uninsured and reduce the federal budget deficit by $127 billion over that time. That’s under Obama’s spending limit of $900 billion, a concern of many in the middle"

Police arrested a woman at the Kotel Wednesday morning after she wrapped herself in the prayer shawl (tallit) traditionally worn by Jewish men. The woman was one of a group of women who had come to pray the new month's prayer (Rosh Chodesh) in the women's section and intended to read from the Torah – another traditionally male role. Anat Hoffman, chairwoman of the Kotel Women, said that this was the first time that a woman was arrested in Israel for wrapping herself in a tallit and read from the Torah.
