I got a login to play around with it but I'm not planning on using it. Was just interested in how things work (i also have a twitter account that I used to play around there). But I still stand by my statement that, since I know myself and my abilities, I won't be using a service limiting me to 140 or 160 characters just cause I think I'm not smart enough to actually create something that's even worth the database space with that few characters. - Jürgen Geuter

I thought so too, but some friends of friends are just flooding stuff I am not in the least interested in ... maybe I've to figure out how to use the filters provided by friendfeed right ... - Michael Klier

You have to make sure to stay away from "the big guys" that just spam every little fart into twitter (which ends up here). There needs to be a filter to remove some people from friendfeed to keep it useful. - Jürgen Geuter

Yeah, and that's a good thing. I am just sick of all the will service foo change the way how people communicate ... or service bar makes protocol baz obsolete ... maybe, they will. Here's an example, and this is not a joke ;-): From all the people I know personally at where I live (colleagues), including all the people which I know from my home town family + friends (I repeat this is not a joke) there are just three out of maybe 60 where the words "twitter" or "friendfeed" would ring a bell and only one who uses it (*winks at Nils Hitze*). - Michael Klier

email is pretty much dead since ages, but everybody keeps using it, mostly to send ads about thingy enlarging products or seeking help for transfering biiig chunks of imaginary money from the philipines to switzerland. heck my 22 years old brother doesn't even know how to send mails with attachments, his primary communication channel is this cell phone. mine are mail, irc, jabber, twitter, friendfeed ... but, I am pretty much alone in this regard throughout almost all the people I know real life wise. @Michael that's been my experience. I have a set of friends who see IM as a good email replacement, another small group who use twitter and ff that way, but most people I know want to use email - and most want to use it for stuff that it can't do well at all, like group editing of documents. - Todd Mundt
