A building that produces more energy than it uses. Built in 2000 shows that the technology has been around for years. Shows it is possible to live a carbon-negative life!

On the face of it biofuels seem like a good idea, but ultimately they just replace one inefficient method of turning chemical energy into mechanical energy.

Great collection of symbols (and links) to videos that explain many scientific concepts. See how many you can guess or know before hovering over the symbol.

Great video explaining the importance of checking information and developing understanding before making an opinion about climate change data... and anything else. Stick with the video. It takes almost Five minutes to explain its point; something that those crying conspiracy have not bothered to do. They just took quotes out of context without checking what the author meant by 'trick' and 'hide'!

Follow the fun of converting the fastest production car chassis to electric power: "Racing Green Endurance (RGE), as part of the wider Imperial Racing Green initiative, is a flagship project of Imperial College London, and comprises of 11 highly motivated members of the staff and student body. With the growing severity of global warming being further augmented by CO2 emissions from today's cars, we strive to champion the use of electric vehicles (EVs) by proving their reliability and outstanding performance... We want to engage the public and demonstrate the exciting potential of EV technology by passing through some of nature's most spectacular landscapes. From the Atacama Desert in Chile and the tropical rainforests of Colombia, to the Great Plains of the USA and the Arctic tundra of Alaska's far north, the Pan American Highway represents the Ultimate test of endurance for any car!"

Inspiring video. I wonder what this will lead to? Just like the moon-shot nobody really knew. The team is going to share all its engineering: "The Bloodhound SSC team hopes the project will be an inspiration for children thinking of a career in engineering or science. Thousands of schools, colleges and universities are already using the educational resources provided by the Bloodhound team."

The chances of McDonnalds developing any environmental consciousness is pretty minimal. They would have to change their business completely. From the polystyrene packaging to sourcing Argentinean beef from slash-and-burn Rain Forest ranchers. I won't be holding my breath for it!!

I live in the UK so I may not be entitled to an opinion, but am grateful for a National Health Service and many other rights I have. Isn't the government supposed to goven and have a duty of care to its citizens? I wonder if all the fear and backlash against 'socilism' is inherited bullshit from the comunist witchhunts of the 1950's?

Petition to: abolish the proposed law that will see alleged illegal filesharers disconnected from their broadband connections, without a fair trial. | Number10.gov.uk - http://petitions.number10.gov.uk/dontdis...
If you think the legal system is in a bit of a mess just imagine what it was like before. The BBC min-series put all those hours of watching legal drams into sharp relief.

Great to see people pushing the envelope on Solar Power: "Instead of roof-sized panels, small collectors could be used on the roof, with the real machinery of solar power generation tucked away, for example, between a home's walls."

I can see a consultancy business in all this inspiring way of living... which may be missing the point: "What have I learned? That friendship, not money, is real security. That most western poverty is of the spiritual kind. That independence is really interdependence. And that if you don't own a plasma screen TV, people think you're an extremist."

This range would keep me going for over a week of local commuting. If I was travelling more and needed to recharge more than once a day I'd find myself a job nearer to home!

It feels really good to be contributing to making the world a better place. Unless you are doing some heavy number crunching then you have plenty of computing cycles to spare. I give away up to 60% on my 2.8 GHz Core 2 Duo powered Aluminium iMac and it takes no more than 30 Watts of electricity; and has little impact on the work I do. If any delay is incurred then I just go have a nice cup of tea. "Donate the power of your computer when it is turned on, but is idle, to projects that benefit humanity! We provide the secure software and system that does it all for free, and you become part of a community that is helping to change the world. Once you install the software, you will be participating in World Community Grid."

Shocking true analysis of the drugs industry... the clue is in the name. Drugs are their product... health is not really their focus; though I am sure that at the heart of it there are doctors that take their oath seriously, but many have become soulless organisations.

Excellent that a building is delivering on being carbon-neutral. "We should save energy, but it does not have to be at the expense of good architecture and indoor climate - what we need are buildings in balance" Now that it has show to be doable... aim for the carbon-negative... life. :)
