Unsubscribing from everyone talking about politics or putting them in a separate list and removing them from the home feed, relentlessly, helps. You have to be ruthless about it: one mention of politics = unsubscribe or list delegation. Furthermore, it's not necessarily the exact words that are used, but rather, the divisiveness and meaning behind what is being said. There is utterly no reason to call someone stupid. John McCain is not an unintelligent and unviable candidate for the Presidency. I may not agree with his views but that does not make him stupid or anyone who wishes to vote for him stupid.
