"Michael: I don't believe we're blanket-advising folks 'not to use' AV on a Mac. I think what we're doing here is weighing the requirement for installing AV on OS X against current security risks and doing so in layman's terms. If you're a user on a current version of OS X (not running Windows in Fusion or parallel), and you're patched, and you're not surfing pornography or downloading unknown files, then [as the article states] "you probably do not need anti-virus software on your Mac." Granted - installing AV software on any system is an ideal step toward strengthening your virus protection -- if you can afford the cost for an AV application and its performance hit on your system resources. Installing AV software for 900 corporate Macs [like your environment] is a no-brainer. Installing AV software on a single home Mac with a patched OS X is debatable."

"Good point in that last paragraph, but try putting the 'real' NFCU page side-by-side with a faked (phishing) SSL NFCU page and which one would you rather log into? You would probably ignore the 'real' NFCU page and enter your personal NFCU access number and password into the phishing page with SSL. No?"
- Rich Chuckrey
"I doubt many NFCU customers know enough to check what the 'target form' is and whether or not it points to an 'HTTPS URL.' We're talking about common sense. What's the point in not securing a sign-on form?"

"Neither am I, Scott. It was a lot of exciting hype that left me wondering. Not that I prefer Google over WA, but I found myself finding ways to duplicate WA results in Google search. Probably a result of doubting WA or possibly wanting to show that a better and more branched reply from Google exists."

"I have no problems with government subsidies for newspapers IF controls were in place that ensured the news wasn't politically influenced. Newspapers can either innovate, consolidate or fail. There will always be a need for quality journalism. It's only a matter of how that journalism gets distributed and who ends up being the distributor."

"I'm eating ham & cheese on Italian bread with mayo, drinking a 100% fruit mix and sitting straight up at my desk -- plowing through email."

"Pete: Great point. If it works, why upgrade. Unless your pockets are just cash deep. However and unfortunately, there comes a time when upgrading just makes sense. One example is hardware and software that comes up on end of life with no continuing support. Red pill or the blue pill?"

Firefox is like the long time girlfriend that you have a hard time breaking up with for the new girl ( chrome ) you just met. I'm debating if I should ditch firefox for Chrome. What should I do?
I left Firefox as it has become too bloated lately. Superficial, I know.. but after initial sorrow I liked IE8 and Chrome more. I've given even Opera some glances, but dunno about that...
- Jemm
I'm using Chrome right now, the one add on I miss the most is the all in one sidebar.
- Russ Jackson
I found another add on I miss Roboform.
- Russ Jackson
Ditto. Not feeling the love for FF lately....
- Rich Chuckrey
Firefox just seems so slow compared to Chrome.

"Was there no recourse? Albeit a great way to vent, these sites [I believe] have the ultimate responsibility to protect the accused. Too much slander is never a winner..... in court. Sad I had to say, 'too.'"

Exactly what Rich said, unless you have some niche needs that only the Air can provide. Otherwise max out the MBP. Biggest decisions should be 15 or 17" screen. 17 is purty as hell, but a pain in the ass to haul around.
- Chrimmus Tad
What Rich said. 15" paired with a 24" or 30" Apple Cinema display is the way to go.
- Akiva Moskovitz
MBP 15" unless you are constantly traveling. The Air is tempting for plane flights.
- Louis Gray
The Air is perfect for the Executive: it gets email, surfs porn, is trendy and looks good with a suit.

We have a MacBook for testing client apps now, and I used that for a while. Works very well except for that darn touchpad. You know what sold me? MS Office is easier to use on a Mac and the 2 button mouse works like a champ! That was the last hold out for me ;-)

So what's the best program you all have found for running Windows from the desktop of a Mac? (edit) not dual boot

"I like the FREE idea. But I'm not impressed with the VirtualBox community. Nor the options in its current release. Looks like the app has promise though -- if their developers stick with it and their releases continue to improve. We'll keep an eye on it. Was their something other than running faster that got you interested in it?"

"One thing that turned me off with Parallels is its limited number of pre-built appliances. VMware has Parallels beat hands down with it."

"Hey Chris, thanks for stopping by! Are you running your work through Aperture for processing? (Just curious here... Still using a Leica MP??)"
