The festival called Tori-no-ichi is held at shrines every November. Since the word "tori" is a homonym, it has a meaning of "get" as well as a cook. Therefore, Tori-no-ichi is always crowded with many people who wish good fortune and rush of business. Furthermore, we can see various kinds of kumade(rake), which is supposed to scrape the fortune together, being sold at the Tori-no-ichi. A Kumade is decorated with lots of lucky goods such as a crane, tortoise, pine, bamboo, ume (Japanese apricot), straw rice-bag, Japanese oval gold coin, etc.
