"I live in Ireland that is true, only the truth and nothing but the truth. And it's not a stereotype and the drinking age it's just a minor inconvenience in the progression towards drinking more and more, of course until liver or heart decides to complain about, and that might be the only moment when drinking is reconsidered. I would like to highlight reconsidered because serious warning might not have an effect in most cases. You won't believe it until you see it with your own eyes. :("

"This is pathetic, that a blogger would criticise Robert Pattinson just to get readers because it's the latest fashionable thing to do if you want Digg readers. And more pathetic all the ones that go alone with it without even doing a real effort in considering honestly whether he can do it or someone else might be more suitable. It's pathetic, how he's become the perfect target if you wan to get readers (at this stage I'm not even considering if they are men those readers, as they behave like bullying cheerleaders from high school). The sign of a bad blogger writing about movies: he starts bitching about Robert Pattinson. Pathetic"
- Cibeles
"The best thing that could happened to this comment is that is ignored. Anyway there it goes. First, you guys bitching about Robert Pattinson looks really gay. You look a bunch of women talking bad about another girl just because she is pretty o boys pay more attention to her. Oh my God! I'm again in High School and the cheerleaders and bullying everyone in sight. You look a bunch of women or a bunch of gays any of the two but certainly not men. Men real men don't care about this kind of shit, get over it and grow up kiddos. Second, and more relevant to the article, I'm not saying there can't be better actors around, but several of the ones mention or most of the ones mentioned in the blog are simply too old to be Kurt Cobain even though they are terrific actors (Paul Bettany, Robert Downey Jr., Jude Law, Hugh Jackman, Ben Stiller, Liam Neeson, Kevin James, Nicolas Cage, Matt Damon, Mark Wahlberg, Paul Rudd, Hal Holbrook, Michael Douglas, Paul Newman's corpse, very funny the Paul..."

Whoa. I use that theme on one of my accounts, but I never use that account at night.
- Anika
haha. Love Easter Eggs. Thanks for pointing that out. Like Anika I never use that account at night. BUT I do like how the solar system rotates on my Gmail Theme throughout the day. Very fine. :)
- Melanie Reed
That's supposed to happen as well in the same iGoogle theme but I have the impression that that only works in America as I have never managed to see that in the iGoogle page, which is pretty disappointing. The rest of the world do like those Eastern Eggs in the Google themes, not that I have waited at night to see it (I'm lying on this) but if you, for whatever reason (playing Sudoku), are still up you should be able to watch and enjoy it in the same way as an American. Shame on you Larry and Sergey. ;)

I use this theme, and i have never noticed. :)

In Singapore, I can also see some. Like in the Phantasea theme, usually water is deep blue, but when getting late (2200pm i guess), it will become purple. and deep in the night( 3 or 4 AM, not sure, because usually never bother to look at clock at that time) it will be like bloody red.

Certainly hope your extracted tooth wasn't as bad as mine. I had crooked roots and a rotting crown.
- Chris Charabaruk
Thanks, I just hope it doesn't bleed again, like it did earlier (much to my dismay/shock) when I had a rest for a while...
- Tyson Key
@Chris - It was one that was already broken somewhat (managed to snap it whilst opening a cola bottle, of all things - yes, I know that's a good idea)...
- Tyson Key
Sorry it looks like a sore mouth. I found out last week that I had screwed one of my fillings eating and needed replacement. In my case it was just eating, nuts, popcorn, I like to chew my food and fillings aren't as tough as real teeth it seems, which is a fantastic reason to take care of them. I hope you're feeling by now :)
- Cibeles
Yeah, they seem OK now. There was one tooth that was almost impossible to fill, since it was in such bad shape (they struggled to fit a metal band around it, several times), but they managed it eventually. It's not as if I don't take care of them, either. Such is life...
- Tyson Key
WELL THEN. I watch both my cousins (boys, 2 and 5) on Tuesdays and Thursdays. I didn't think it was that weird but FF is making me second guess myself.
- Shawn Farner
@Shawn Those are your cousins. My nephew watches my kids. I am thinking more like someone who isn't related to you
- Shevonne
Meh, if it was someone I know I don't care if they're male or female. I never got the hiring someone you don't know to sit the kids bit....
- FFing Enigma
Tina, some of us don't have family or friends to watch our children.
- Anika
I don't mean watching for free, I meant paying a sitter that was someone known to you, someone in the neighborhood, etc.
- FFing Enigma
I'm willing to bet that, were there more male babysitters, there would be far less out-of-marriage pregnancies. It's certainly working for me.
- Shawn Farner
Well, I don't have that either. If we ever need a babysitter, I'll have to hire a stranger and I will hire the most qualified person regardless of gender. I don't do discrimination based on gender, only on qualifications.
- Anika
We don't hire babysitters at all. If one of the grandmas can't watch the kids, we pretty much don't go out.
- Brett Kelly
Christopher: Most 30 year olds, have jobs and actually work. Babysitting is more for women, and teenagers, I'm just saying when I was a kid, my parents woulfdn't allow a male over 30 to watch us. Because we had a pedophile in our town.
- Matt Ruiz
My brother was the neighborhood babysitter. I would hope that parents have their boys take care of their younger sibs. It is sexist to think of this as a "girls" job. Why wouldn't a 17 yr old boy or girl be about the same? What's funny is when men (not all!!) become father's, that's when the "baby sitting" starts.
- BEX
@Anika Pedophiles are usually men. Would you worry about that? This is the reason I said no.
- Shevonne
@CW I know women can be pedophiles. There was a horrible cause I heard that happened in Mexico. However, men are usually the ones who are more apt to do this than men.
- Shevonne
I don't believe in babysitters. I barely trust my kids with their moms....LOL.
- Rah-PM 2012
Pedophiles are usually relatives or close friends. Worrying about a stranger, where you can get a police report sounds a bit safer to me. I also don't do paranoia. :)
- Anika
I am extremely paranoid with my kids, so you're right. I do DO paranoia. haha
- Shevonne
So does that mean, you'd get a police report if a male relative was going to watch your kids? You'd ask other people he's watched if there were shenanigans?
- Anika
aye, we're all pervs. *waits to get arrested for being a stay-at-home dad*
- Joe The Sausage
I don't have kids, so I suppose this is somewhat irrelevant, but I really wish this stigma against men caring for children wasn't as prevalent as it is. It's one of the (many) reasons that I think we don't see more men going into education - particularly at the lower levels. And that's really unfortunate.
- Katy S
I'm a stay home dad. I've considered taking on babysitting other kids in the past, but I get enough criticism for not having a "real job" as it is. But I would have no problem leaving my daughter with another dad like myself. A childless adult man wanting to keep children, I'd have to say ummmm no.
- G Dub of the Carolinas
I've been a baby sitter, but I don't think anyone has reason to fear I'm pedophile, and kids tend to really like me. But I don't see myself much past fourteen anyway, except for the debt, driver's license, and masters degree. *thinks for a minute* Although people get weird and iffy about the gay thing too, so I'd watch my friend's kids as opposed to being a sitter for hire.
- Derrick
Matt - I'm almost 30 and I'm a nanny. By choice. I have a bachelor's degree from Duke University and graduate classes in Educational Psychology. I find your comment a bit offensive, as if what I do isn't work. Also, I know many qualified males who would be AWESOME babysitters.
- Lis
Depends. Just as you screen a woman babysitter, you gotsta screen a male one. I'd almost prefer having a male babysitter. If they're good, they'd 'be laid back and still get the job done.
- Brad Williamson
I babysat in middle and high school; also work the children's room at church
- RAPatton
I was a babysitter when I was a teen. We have had one male babysitter, but he was our pastor's son and we knew him and trusted him. I don't think there's anything inherently wrong with having a male babysitter. It all comes down to trust.
- Joey Gibson
Wow. Okay, when did it become weird for men to like children? And don't go where I know you're going with that.
- Marty
Yes, I would. Though I would want any babysitter to be personally recommended and have references, male or female.
- ☆ Mellyboo ☆
My daughter had a few male babysitters while growing up and I had less problems with them than with the female ones. Her first one was when she was about 3-4, an elderly man she liked to call "Hampa". I worried less about her when she was with him than with any other babysitter she ever had. And I was the seriously worrisome type of mom that didn't like leaving her with anyone.
- April
We hire boys at least as often as girls.
- Brock Haffner
Just as well, Shevonne. Your house is too far away. :D
- Steven Perez
yeah- my brother looked after us 4 girls just fine. If I was a man, I'd be really disheartened, and probably offended by this thread. Why do people think that 1) men are pedophiles and 2) men can't take care of children, just fine? I come from an extended local family, and wow, we love babysitters. Yes, it's about trust. But I'm asked repeatedly if I can find a babysitter for someone,...

Having a male babysitter apparently brings up a lot of discussion. I use to babysit a lot as a teen and I think I did an ok job. I also remember my favorite babysitters as a kid were teenage boys - one was the basketball "star" at the high school and we thought he was awesome. Now as a parent, I have no problem having the right people watch my kids, male or female. I think if I just had...

Definitely. They are harder to find, I think, but I would and will if I can find a good one.

I don't see the problem. There could be paedophiles amongst men, but you also have women that have either physically abuse or killed babies or children under their care so the truth is you might have some risks with one gender and you have other risks with the other. The advantage of a male babysitter is that men tend to want to play with kids so they usually love to be with men and run...
- Cibeles
I don't understand why this is even an issue. No one would dream of a thread "Would you hire a black babysitter" or "Would you hire a female manager" Making a decision based on gender is sexist and discriminatory. Pedophiles are usually men, really? Based on what? Would it be right to say most murderers are black? Could use the same logic.

- Stan Emerson
You are trying to install it from Firefox? You have to use Synaptic. System<Administration<Synaptic Package Manager and search for flashplugin-nonfree. mark for install and then click the apply button.
- Alejandro
You can try downloading the .so plugin manually and moving it to the plugins folder. Works for x64 anyway with their new beta.
- Shawn Chen
+1 Alejandro, that's probably the easiest and most reliable way to do it
- Louis Simoneau
I know what you are talking about you try to install the flash plugin once Firefox tells you it needs the plugin and it freezes Firefox. You are left half way through and I don't think you can go to Synaptic and try to install the flash plugin from there. For some reason the installation process got interrupted and it won't allow you to either retry or trying to install an alternative flash plugin. You need to go to Terminal and do: sudo dpkg --configure -a. Try that to see if it does the trick.
- Cibeles
Stan, just open Synaptic Package Manager and search for the package flashplugin-nonfree as Alejandro told. Its the simplest and best method. Works perfectly!!

Wow. I think before I die I would love to have a date / perhaps more with someone vastly older, but that wish is waning as I get older. :-/

- Mona Nomura
i recently learned that the younger men who cougar women like are called cubs. I find this amusing.
- Violet Mae Lim
It's hard to agree, Mona, considering the lightly lingering "cougar" thing I still have. But yeah...I've been really warming up to people more my age or younger.
- Jonathan Hardesty
The attraction to a largely older mate is generally due to the perception of the ability to learn or otherwise benefit from said mate. The attraction to a largely younger mate is generally due to the perception of vigor, fitness, or due to the older being a generational deviation. The two are oddly enough compatible in many instances. Though I still can't recommend it, but it's a gut instinct more than anything logical or researched.
- xero
Ok, I'll go there: how is Ashton doing anyway Mona?
- invariant
Not going to lie, there's a part of my brain that still clings to the cougar fantasy. And it's nice. But lately things have changed. Now this idea of younger has sprung up and it's not going away. And no. Not the creepy sort of "younger." :P

@Mona: Is a 15 year difference really that bad? I don't see it as such.
- Brandon
@brandon - no, as long as it's the guy who's older.
- Anthony Citrano
I agree with Anthony. 37 year old female with a 22 year old guy (in general) is just plain wrong.
- Mona Nomura
from fftogo
Scott FTW. Age is just a number, what matters is that the people involved are happy. If you don't like it, same advice we all give when someone complains about a post here: Just don't pay attention. Don't harsh what they got.
- Chris Charabaruk
Also, anyone who says that the man should be older is sexist, no matter how you try to cut it. That's pure old fashioned sexism.
- Chris Charabaruk
I don't think it's that odd. More that he must be a special 22 year old for a 37 year old to take interest. Age is important, but not an end all be all.
- Sparky, lurking
For reference I've dated people as much as 25 years my senior.
- Sparky, lurking
It takes males a lot longer to grow into themselves than females. That is why it makes me question what a 37 year old woman wants from a 22 year old (still in college) boy. Seriously, what does she want from him? And the answers to those questions seem fairly obvious. ;) Sparky - of course, there are exceptions to every rule like you. ;)
- Mona Nomura
She might be a 22 year old in her head and finds more in common with a 22 year old than with another 37 year old male. It's not the age you have but the age in your head. And that about women developing faster than men only applies until you are in your teens then things even up :)
- Cibeles
Mona, you are quite old-fashioned. Calling a private situation "gross" also strikes me as juvenile. Chiming in with Sparky, I have dated guys 15 years my junior. In fact, I sometimes have a problem getting away from the youngsters, but it's a nice problem to have.
- Rick Powell
A male under normal circumstances are not men until they reach at least 25, since a lot of being a man ties into security issues. Males and females have different needs to be met to be secure, in order to be a man.
- Mona Nomura
Mona - who says the man has to be a man? Women don't grow into themselves until much longer after men in my experience, really hitting their stride in their later 20's or early 30's. Just because one side of a dating duo is more mature than the other (be it the man or the women) isn't a bad thing. Sometimes the mature can learn from the spontaneous, and the young can learn from the wisdom of the more experienced.
- Sparky, lurking
Mona that about men not being men until they are 25 is a stereotype and a really, really bad one. The thing that really makes a difference about whether you are more grown up or not tends to be experiences in life. You'd be surprise by how mature some children are just because of the kind of life they had. Some older people are not more mature than some children. Everything is in your head, appearances are deceiving
- Cibeles
Of course we can all learn from each other, that is why I like people so much, Sparky. And tiffany that was probably the case but why does she want a fun date? That answers to that questions makes me wonder what she really wants from him. @Cibeles: There are other issues that come with being forced to grow up too early. ;)
- Mona Nomura
I have to agree with the part about other issues when growing too fast. But in any case I believe there are sometimes too many stereotypes, in any case it's true there is a big difference age, but so long is just a date I don't think there's anything wrong, it might end up in just a nice friendship. Of course if there is more I would certainly try meet the person in question to see what's going. On it's own a date is nothing more than a date. I wouldn't worry about your friend :)
- Cibeles

This is another situation where I might agree that in general such an age difference might be problematic, but I give more support to the individuals' doing what feels right for them. I seriously doubt that I could have a thing for a 50 yr-old man, and I'd seriously question how a 30 yr-old man could have a sincere interest in me. I'm not even talking 15 years, here.

"Question: What Are the Best Ways for a Vegan to Get Protein? I am thinking of switching to a vegan diet, but I am afraid I won't get enough protein. What are some good ways to get enough protein from a vegan diet? -Megan, About.com User Answer: Plant-based foods contain protein, but not as much as animal-based foods, so it's understandable why a vegan may be concerned about getting enough protein in her diet. Legumes, nuts, seeds and whole grains are vegan diet staples that contain protein. However, these plant proteins don't have all of the essential amino acids your body needs (why they're also referred to as incomplete proteins)."

"There are three macronutrients in nutrition, better known as fats, carbohydrates and protein. You will easily find all three of these nutrients in your diet every day, but not always as the healthiest versions. You might already have a good idea about what a good carbohydrate is (complex carbohydrate with lots of fiber) verses a bad carbohydrate (table sugar or high fructose corn syrup). And bad fats (saturated fats and trans fats) verses good fats (monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats). So what makes a protein a good protein? Unlike fats or carbohydrates, which can be good for you or bad for you based on their natural biochemistry, all dietary proteins are about equal. The quality of a protein mostly depends on how the food source is prepared or what fats naturally accompany the protein."

Kol, follow your heart and your mind. Talk on the phone, send some snail-mail, and have some face-to-face visits. One thing that helps Scott & me is that we've known each other from online forums since 1997, so we didn't have much we could hide from each other. I will keep my fingers crossed for you!
- Ladyepiphanybug
I think we should all try to set Kol up with a lovely lady
- sofarsoShaw BAZINGA!
Shawn, the chance would be a fine thing. ;-)
- Kol Tregaskes
Heather, it was merely a question, sadly no such luck for me. :-( But thank you though. Yes the relationship would certainly need a long time to grow.
- Kol Tregaskes
depends... now my sons are getting older.. i probably would :o)
- Rob Sellen :o)
My wife and I dated long distance for 4.5 years, so in time I would move to be together, but the courtship can be done at a distance. If you do move, you need to do it understanding that things might not work out.
- RAPatton
To those who said yes, would you move to another country?
- Kol Tregaskes
I'd say I would be fairly happy to move to anywhere in the UK or Ireland but not so sure about to another country, especially one where the native language is not English. That's not to say I would not want to learn another language, that would be great, but makes the decision perhaps a little harder.
- Kol Tregaskes
Shevonne, yep, nice, sunny, near a beach, hehe. :-)
- Kol Tregaskes
I'm in love with a Canadian gal I've never met! Linked thru FB... she's funny cute and just about my age...and 1300 miles away. Yeah, if I had the discretionary dough, I'd go see her...
- Russell Wagner
I think it depends on a number of things. If you have visited and spent a large amount of time with each other then maybe. I think it being in another country with different language and culture makes it a BIG move and you need to make sure you are ready for it.

Also Thomas isn't it more important the lenses they have? I could never fall for anyone but a Canon shooter
- Adrian
I think that the fantasy many times is better than the reality. Who wants to deal with all that daily stuff?!? Better to follow sofarsoshawn's advice and keep it virtual.
- Victoria Plautia
True story: I met the partner-in-crime online. We talked. I visited him for 3 days. A few months later he visited me for about 8 days. 11 months after the first time we talked online, he moved from Canada and in with me. Sometimes it really does just work.

It is my personal experience that Nikon camera owners are better in bed than Canon owners. Just sayin'.

Was in Belgium, now in South Africa, I don't regret a single bit of it...

@Martha, sorry. Couldn't resist a little tweak. My sense of humor.

@Shevone, Kol and everyone else thinking that way, never think "I would do anything for love". If things go wrong you not only regret it, you would think you are stupid. I have done that mistake once, I regreted the whole thing. Good thing for me was that "once is a mistake, twice you are stupid". Seriously think with the head. About moving to another country with a different language, I have done it as well, it can get really hard and you will only get through
- Cibeles
@Cibeles I am idealistic and have been hurt by this thinking. However, I don't have any regrets because it has shaped me into the person I am today, and if I wouldn't have been hurt, then I wouldn't learn for when I find my true love.
- Shevonne
if you are willing to learn the language regardless of the situation and are thrilled with a different culture and different language. Even if you move to a English speaking country you will find that things are different from USA, beware of that and just move if you know where you are getting into. I have seen people extremely alienated just because the cultural differences and I'm talking about Spaniards and other Europeans in Ireland. It's not just the language, it's that invisible every day net around
- Cibeles
@shevonne it's good that you don't feel any regrets. In my case I just it was stupid, and that the lesson to be learnt is to never do things thinking with the heart. I don't feel any regrets if I fail due to ignorance, you learn from the experience but thinking with the heart and the head saying don't believe in that person. I felt completely stupid, glad anyway that you feel it's a learning experience. I guess it depends on the person and your personality
- Cibeles
You always feel stupid, but then you pick yourself up. =D
- Shevonne
Given this is similar to my current situation, it's an easy yes!

"A “time traveller’s phrasebook” that could allow basic communication between modern English speakers and Stone Age cavemen is being compiled by scientists studying the evolution of language. Research has identified a handful of modern words that have changed so little in tens of thousands of years that ancient hunter-gatherers would probably have been able to understand them. Anybody who was catapulted back in time to Ice Age Europe would stand a good chance of being intelligible to the locals by using words such as “I”, “who” and “thou” and the numbers “two”, “three” and “five”, the work suggests. More nuanced conversation would be more of a challenge. The analysis of language evolution suggests that none of the adjectives, verbs and nouns used in modern languages would have much in common with those used then."

"Western culture seems at war with itself over moral values. This conflict, pundits tell us, has two opposing sides. On one side are those who believe one lives a moral life by following rules handed down by tradition and religion. This group accuses the other side of being "relativists" without values. Is this a legitimate dichotomy, and where does Buddhism fit into it? "Dictatorship of Relativism" Shortly before he was named Pope Benedict XVI in April 2005, Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger said, "Relativism, which is letting oneself be tossed and swept along by every wind of teaching, looks like the only attitude acceptable to today’s standards… We are moving toward a dictatorship of relativism which does not recognize anything as definitive and has as its highest value one’s own ego and one’s own desires.""
