Clare Dibble
My (former) 1995 honda civic was apparently stolen from my youngest brother at gunpoint this weekend. Bye bye cute little Clare-y car. Thank goodness Bret is unhurt.
wow, harsh - car jacking? - bob
Apparently... they took his cell phone too, so we can't call him to find out more details. - Clare Dibble
Yikes! - April Buchheit
Good thing they took his cell phone, too. You can activate the GPS and follow the car around the city. It's a shame he got a carjacker that can drive a stick. I've always thought having a manual transmission was a form of protection against theft/car jacking. - Gabe
Apparently the 95 civic is the most stolen car in America. Seems strange to me. I thought they stole expensive cars. - Robert Felty
Wow! Where did that happen? - Paul Buchheit
@Robert Popular cars = Liquid market for parts. I once had a Honda Prelude alternator stolen overnight; felt like having a kidney stolen. - Richard Chen
Paul, someone was waiting for him after he came out from closing the Blimpie's he works at. It sounds like the police have potentially found the car in "drivable" condition. We will see what happens, but if he gets it back,it is a vote in favor of having a POS version of the car (no air conditioning, for example). - Clare Dibble
Where was this? - Jim Norris
Dang - Rodfather
This was near Phoenix, right? - Gabe
I think this happened in Tempe, AZ, but definitely in the greater Phoenix area. - Clare Dibble
Clare - A POS car doesn't necessarily help. Don't forget the time I found a guy trying to steal my POS 89 Escort at CWRU. Then again he wasn't a very good car thief since I was able to difuse the situation by telling him I needed to go o work. - Sarah Miller from iPhone
Harsh. - Rick Cogley from iPhone
That's pretty funny Sarah. Were you like, "I need to go to work now, can you try stealing my car later?" - Paul Buchheit
Yikes! Glad to hear he's OK. - Eric @ CS Techcast
