"I do doubt the "Google" phone will be free, but the hardware cost will continue to be driven down and carrier subsidies will eventually cover it. It's just odd that Schmidt's comments were never brought up by anyone."
- Chris Latko
"Hmm. Odd. I haven't heard of the XML problem before. Looking at that page, I do get a parse error on that page, but I'm going to blame it on this build being Engligh only. Other than this, I've been using 3.7 as my primary browser for the past month or so, using almost daily builds, without problem. 3.5 will not be 64-bit, neither will 3.6. I'll work on a GCD version of 3.7 in the new year. That will probably take me a little while though."

All FF Alphas are called Minefield. It really depends on the state of the trunk whether you get a stable build or not. Best browser there is, moved from WebKit to Camino, back to Minefield (3.7, 64-bit). Speed is great.

Disqus failed to install, even a programmer over there told me to give up on it. So I moved on to Intense Debate and found it easy to install and maintain. The WP plugin is kinda wonky - sometimes I have to approve a comment multiple times.

"Cool. I had the same ambition to figure out a use for it. Got into the Wave sandbox when it was first released so have been using it for quite a while now. Still trying to figure it out. DM me your email address."
- Chris Latko
"I believe that is an option that you can set in the about:config. I didn't touch these options at all so this is the default behavior for 3.6. Camino no longer builds for me. I finally figured out why, but that was after I already wasted an afternoon. Anyway, I can barely get any optimization out of it as they've done a great job of doing this already. I'll try again this weekend."
- Chris Latko
"Yeah, I'd like my wasted minute back as well. This article is trash. Microsoft isn't even going for SaaS so you can throw the whole premise out the window. Its S+S and MS is clearly taking this a different direction than you propose and assume."

"But there has always been the SEO friendly shortened urls: http://itunes.com/apps/<appnamelowercasenospaces> Working example: http://itunes.com/apps... Also, @Vishal the app store is already on the web. Just not in the format you would expect."

"Do you get a any kind of error dump? If not, can you fire up console and try again? Send me the error through the contact form and I'll look at it. Thx."

Chris I'm confused, it was to my understanding that Twitter among many (most?) web 2.0 sites, why are they taking it away? I wonder if that is the reason Google has created that "Go" programming language? This has got me quite curious !

There is just a moratorium on new features to allow a stable feature set to trickle through the Python-based languages - Jython, IronPython, etc. This is also for Python 3000 or Python 3.0, and most people are using Python 2.5 still. The moratorium is only on the language itself and does not affect library development. This isn't as big of a deal as it seems. Python isn't going anywhere, Guido still works at Google, and Go is not a response to this.

"I'll see what I can do. There is an official bug (#514495) that is causing problems when building Camino under Snow Leopard. There is no official patch, just differing config options."
- Chris Latko
"And that is where I did stop for two years. After the constant barrage of press and this notion of Twitter being the second coming, I had to at least try it."
- Chris Latko
"Plugins need to be 64-bit to work (there is no plugin wrapper like Safari). Flash will not work until Adobe releases the 64-bit 10.1 version. Add-ons should work. I'm using Firebug 1.5X with no problems."
- Chris Latko
"You'll probably have to save it as a text file and check the first couple lines for clues as to what type of file it is. Usually there is embedded meta-data such as PNG/PDF/JPG etc. Sorry, I can't be more specific."
- Chris Latko
"No. I've heard there is actually a degradation in performance when building with Clang. I'll do some experiment this week as I want to get GCD in there."
- Chris Latko
"My apologies to you and everyone else. I hacked up my own patch for the sqlite problem. The build worked, but no matter what I did, the wrong libsqlite was getting pulled into the packager. I've applied the official patch and now all is good."

Hope they add some new cool features involving social networking, including maybe the big thing about Google Wave addons ? That would rawk! TIM J. @ WWW.MHWD.ORG

Yeah, there is already a Firefox addon for GW. I'm running Namoroka (3.7) when I run Firefox which doesn't support many addons. Otherwise, I use Camino 2.1 as my primary browser.
- Chris Latko
"Thanks for the report, very helpful. I can run Camino for *weeks* on my machine with no problems. There is no way to do this in any other browser I've tried. My main issues are with debugging, but the console is good enough for most cases. If I really need to dive in, I open up Shiretoko and use Firebug. I can see the frustrations with the search auto-complete. I think this would be an easier thing for me to take on (code-wise) than implementing keyboard shortcuts. When I get the chance, I'm going to do another build with Clang, plus see if I can add the search auto-complete."

"Sorry, I've receive many public and private requests for this information and I'm not going to give it up. My account my have been unusually attractive due to the follower count so this could very well be an anomaly for an otherwise reputable company."
