Nothing against my British friends, but I'm really quite pleased with how our separation's gone so far. Happy 4th.
skimming arquilla and ronfelt's Swarming and the Future of Conflict. I put several RAND pdfs on my netbook. like carrying a bookshelf.
arquilla and ronfeldt's description of swarming substantially correlates to how @conjunctured describes working on projects.
wearing shoes = hot feet. hotter all around.
hoping the bus stop will be uneventful today after yesterday's tragedy.
Class over. To the bus.
on the bus, a guy with a mohawk and studded bracelet reads a book: "Rant."
... and in a matthew mcconaghey voice, drawls, "you got perfect timing." yeah.
at bus stop, a guy w camo cap smokes and eyes me suspiciously. I sit down, then see the bus coming. he looks up slyly ...
I pass a young woman crouching on the soil near sidewalk. looking at a puddle. sniffing. crying? not sure. sunglasses hide her eyes.
@Konstanze yes. Seemed like a good idea at the time.
ut daily headline: "west campus party ends with stabbing."
the guy from yesterday with the box is back. this time he has a bigger box. it stays in his lap, serving as a shelf for his sack lunch.
my phone supports youtube uploads. maybe at some point I will take some video of my bus rides. but I should exclude the people for priv sake
reading the latest issue of ccc, which is a slurry of pedagogy articles.
the teen gets off. he has a kmfdm backpack, which for his age counts as nostalgia music. I was right about his bike.
his is probably not the bike whose basket is stuffed with misc items, including several squares of cardboard.
teenager on bus evidently owns one of the two bikes on the rack. I deduce this because he is casually wearing his bike helmet.
wearing shoes to class for first time this summer due to injury sustained from dropping 15" powerbook on foot.
walking to the bus stop a little late today. I hear a woodpecker.
@billhd re npr reading decl of ind, who drew the short straw & had to read passage fulminating against "savagery" of "red indian"?
band-aid came off during practice. almost impossible to find on wooden floor. I guess that means that wood = band-aid's idea of flesh color.
just finished my first ashtanga session in a week. glad to be back, but I am exhausted.
@ifss I should have dropped by instead of having that peanut butter sandwich
btw, the article on terrorist nws was pretty good. specific strategies for hacking them. not detailed, but a start.
while @billhd enjoys chorizo, I am probably looking at a peanut butter sandwich. they each have their rewards, I guess.
into the sunlight, onto the asphalt. the outside smells like hot dogs.
two elderly women get on. 4-5 people offer their seats.
hanger guy analog; as we approach his stop, man with undershirt puts on ... a green t shirt.
run dmc gets off. I see him through the window, struggling to carry the duffel bag, walking with short steps, peering around the bag.
